This the place to come for plate lunch. Once you have eaten here you keep searching for good Hawaiian eats and keep coming back to this one. Their loco moco and chicken katsu are delectable!
5Plate lunch. Great concept. Not well understood on the mainland away from the west coast. But here in the islands, it's what you do if you want real (not real heathly) food, lots of it and a reasonable price. From my experience eating plate lunches for the past 20 years, this is the place. Good food, price, and portions. It will "break your mouth".

This little place serves up very good local style hawaiian food. Nothing fancy, just good food with friendly service. We ordered a variety that included Saimin, Chicken Katsu and Chicken curry and everyone was happy.
4The only thing you need to know before ordering food at Da Kitchen is that the individual portions will easily serve two people. We had the chicken and rice, and had more than enough for a snack later. The service is good, and they very much appreciate a good tip. The quality of food is far above what you might expect for a "fast food" place, so don't let the spare surroundings fool you. This is a locals place, with very tasty local cuisine, and best of all, easy on your budget (when you get sick of being gouged at such Maui "legends" like Mama's Fish House (see my review of that joint).

order here, and it will fill your stomach up with enough food to satisfy many locals. THREE large fillets of chicken or fish when you order the chicken katsu or the fish and chips. service is great, and always friendly.
be ready to wait for a table.

Cons: waiting
We're from the mainland but stopped by DA Kitchen when vacationing in Maui. We're staying at Grand Wailea Resort & Spa and found DA Kitchen a welcome retreat! Prices are very reasonable. Only a few platters over $15. Portions are HUGE! Kalua Pork and Teriyaki Beef are amazing. This is a nice break from the fancy resort restaurants and resort prices. Located in a strip mall location, seat yourself, watch a little television and sit back and relax. Definitely a diamond in the rough and a place where locals frequent.
