It has a nice atmosphere at the Marriott Resort & beach club, but their food wasn't amazing, just good Italian. the exception was their amazing tiramisu. It has a nice view overlooking the beach.

Pros: great tiramisu

Cons: average tasting italian food

This establishment serves really good Italian food. They have a great view of Kalapaki Bay. The owner himself is Italian and this shows in his cuisine.

I first went to Portofino's in 2005 when my mom and I were on vacation. We were staying at the Marriott and this was just down the beach from the hotel. After a disappointing dinner at the restaurant next door - we were a bit skeptical about the restaurants nearby.

From the minute we walked in the door - all that changed. We had a reservation and were greeted and seated immediately. We got to sit on the deck, overlooking the bay and the sunset.

Order the Veal Piccata and you will not be disappointed. From start to finish - the meal was just first class. Some of the best Italian I have had anywhere in the world. With the best service in all of Hawaii.

The icing on the cake? There is a wonderful Harpist who plays during dinner. It was breathtaking. We went back a few nights later for dinner and our experience was just as good.

In October 2007 I was back in Kauai and I knew I had to get back for dinner. If possible - it was even better.

Message from Cafe Portofino

Imagine a tropical Italy or a Hawaiian Riviera. That's what you'll find at this northern Italian restaurant overlooking Kalapaki Bay. Owner Giuseppe Avocadi was born and raised in Italy, when he opened his Restaurant on the Island of Kauai, "Kauai reminds me so much of the Italian Riviera", Mr. Avocadi says.
" A marvel of contrast between mountains and sea surrounded by palms and fields of vibrant greens…..
It's truly a paradise."
