while i was hapai, i couldn't eat any raw fish - no sushi, no poke, no lomi salmon. after i gave birth to my daughter, yama's was the first place that i went to get some ahi shoyu poke and kalua pig and cabbage and some lomi salmon all in one spot. you can even pick up local kine goodies, i.e., haupia, li hing candies, and cookies. there's only one little table outside, so bring your cooler full of ice and pack up your assortment of poke and head to the beach!

Yama's Fish Market has a good assortment of poke (marinated raw fish) and hawaiian food (laulau, kalua, lomi salmon). They also have local style plate lunches. All of the food is very good. I especially like their laulau and poke.

It's a small place (easy to miss) on Young St, so keep your eyes open. The parking is rather limited, especially when there is a crowd. It's really a take-out place, so there is no seating.

Recommended when you're in the mood for Hawaiian food.
