Kalypso Island Bar & Grill

Ate here for lunch. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Oh, not to forget the drink. Service was fine. It was pretty busy in there during the lunch hour.

A great variety of food choices. Fish tacos are the BEST. Friendly service, but don't be in a hurry...it's slow. Worth the wait! Centrally located to shops and beaches.

We waited for a table in the rain for quite a while. Once we were seated, they gave us a table right on the outer railing. My son thought this was cool since the rain was within arms reach. The service was slow. We had burgers and tacos. All the food was really juicy and flavorful.

Located in the center of tiny Hanalei, this place is nearly perfect. Open air bar and eating area, a great lunch menu (try the fish tacos) and a very laid-back mix of surfers, locals and pink-skinned vacationers. The only criticism is the slow and regimented way they seat guests. We waited for 10 minutes to be seated for lunch when there was an entire room of empty tables. The locals behind us grumbled that they do it all the time, but it's worth the wait. They were right.

PROS: Fish tacos, cold beer, open air hawaiian restaurant
CONS: long, unnecessary wait for a table
