We made reservations as suggested but had to wait at least fifteen minutes to be seated. The hostess was very apologetic and sincere even though I knew she was stressed out. It seemed she didn't know how to handle the volume but no one can fault her at all for it. When we finally got seated we tried to appreciate our surroundings but it was difficult to because we were seated at a plain table. There were no settings, no placemats, no flowers, decor, or even condiments. The menu was okay with a decent selection, but I had read somewhere online that a customer commented how they used black permanent markers to erase the "Sushi Bar" part of the title restaurant. I wanted to see it for myself, and there it was... The server came over very casually and cordially, but after ordering, it took forever for us to get our water and dinner roll (just a plain roll, which doesn't follow the Asian theme they were going for. Our alcohol took a while to get to us as well, but we were just relaxed so it didn't bother us. As our entrees were served to us, I was reminded immediately of a Cosby Show episode where Bill Huxtable tells Vanessa's fiance that it was like being served a filet mignon (sic) on a trash can lid... The food can taste good but if it isn't served well, it's not so appetizing, especially for a restaurant that was featured on the front page of a popular circulating restaurant digest.

It's not the staff's fault per se, but management should either turn people away, spread out the seating time and not be so greedy as to think only of filling up the seats, close off a section, or get a bigger kitchen and more staff in order to keep up with the volume. The quality of the food suffered because of it: the lobster ravioli was cold, though at the time I convinced myself they did that on purpose, my date's New York steak and lobster tail had absolutely NO FLAVOR (they ruined STEAK!!!! AND LOBSTER???!!!?!?!?) What I think was the only redeeming part was my duck. I'm no huge fan of duck, but it had surprisingly good taste, wasn't salty, dried out, or oily at all.

We are in our 20's, know what good food is, know good quality of food, know when food is prepared well. And, of course, we've experienced the complete opposite. However, we are not terribly harsh, and so for me to have stated all that I have, it'd be accurate to assume that Lemon Grass fell on the latter end. Again, we were intoxicated and enjoying our couple of days of relaxation so we were enjoying ourselves. However, I couldn't say the same for surrounding customers. In our small section of six tables or so, I saw two tables (of foreign people) get absolutely FURIOUS and walked out without their meals, demanding they be comped. Even with everything aforementioned, THAT ruined our evening.

I would definitely try this place once more, because you never know if it was just a freak incident or if it really is a terrible place until you've experienced it at least twice.

Would I recommend it? No. I'd say to give King and I or Mema Thai a try (only a minute or two away from Lemon Grass. They serve more traditional Thai cuisine and... I don't know, I haven't tried them yet but I'll try those two before (eventually) going back to Lemon Grass.

It sits on a very noisy street, food preparation was below average. To top it off, similar entrees were priced higher than very fine restaurants in the area.
