We (my wife and I) have been a member for several years. Our needs are fairly basic. We both lift about three times a week. I like to swim for aerobic conditioning and she likes to use elliptical machines. The gym seems to benefit from being in the Long Branch Hotel; the hotel can offer a great gym and the gym gets access to a quiet pool, hot tub and sauna in the hotel. I regularly swim at noon and I usually am alone or sharing the pool with 1 or maybe 2 others. This isn't true on weekends when there are hotel guests using the pool.

They have the needed equipment and there usually isn't a problem getting access to equipment. The biggest bottlenecks are the squat rack and the elliptical machines. The other members are pretty easy going, so they will not 'hog' the equipment. As long as I give them a reasonable time to complete their sets, I have rarely had any issues. There is a nice mix from 20-somethings to retirees. Most of the people there want to stay in shape and have a bit of fun doing it. There are serious lifters, but there isn't a heavy-metal 'roid-head sort of feeling.

The spinning classes are the most popular class they offer. The room they use isn't well ventilated, so it does get a little rank in the winter since its too cold to open the windows. That doesn't really matter much to me, but it could be an issue for some.

I have looked at some of the larger gyms in the area, but the price and small size keep me at Gold Point.
