Coffee Smiths is a local coffee shop with a corporate franchise feel. It's "too nice". The coffee is fine. The pastries are all made from what they call "muffin pucks" which are frozen disks that turn into dry, crunchy muffins when you bake them. Lunch wraps and panninis are ok but there's no soup in the summer time and only one variety of soup in the winter. The owner has done weird things like put the Internet on a timer so it doesn't turn on until the store opens. This results in problems during the daylight savings time switch when it doesn't turn on until an hour after they open or turns off an hour before they close. The also have the thermostat locked down so the employees can't change it. In the spring when they haven't turned the a/c on, it can get up to 80 degrees or more and nobody can do anything about it.

Afternoon clientele tends to be all kids. They can be loud and disruptive. To their credit, the internet-timing, thermostat-padlocking fascist management has posted rules of behavior to address this, but it doesn't change the fact that it gets noisy in the afternoon once the kids show up.
