This is a great nature reserve and trail system, better than some I saw in the woodlands of PA. It's several miles of forest that runs along the Cedar River and connects Cedar Falls and Waterloo through miles of nature trails. And if you don't want ot go on the beaten path, there's numerous detours you can take to go into the forest and explore instead. Anyone who enjoys offroad biking should come here at least once.

They have some great short hiking trails to take a stroll through the cool woods on a hot summer day. We always enjoy going out during the week and taking an hour to walk around. The trails meet up with the Cedar valley Trails system so you can go on an extended walk. My daughter took a class during the summer and had a great time. They offer all different ones. The one she took was about tadpoles and frogs and they got to actually catch and touch some.

This is a really neat place for field trip[s for elementary kids. They can do experiements here, canoeing, and do soem touch/feel experiemnts as well. the people are overally nice and go out of their way to help you with whatever you need.
The hours here vary and you would probably need to make reservations if bringing a larger group of kids . The trails here are alot of fun too, and watch out for the owl pellets! :)

PROS: cool stuff to do.
CONS: none
