In spite of its name and sign, this is more than an ice cream place. They serve grilled sandwiches, soup in the cold months, baked potatoes, salads, and as of this week, "Broasted" chicken, biscuits and potato wedges.

Do not let its exterior and location fool you. The inside is clean and updated with a brand new kitchen. They have plenty of Perry history hanging on the walls and in glass cases to peruse while you wait for your order. The tables and chairs do not match, which I think adds to the charm. They have plenty of space for a large group to be seated together.

About the food, wonderful! They serve grilled PB and J or grilled cheese sandwiches for the younger ones. The Brushetta sandwich is my favorite. They have the standard deli meats, as well. The soups are really good too. They don't leave their soups out to get that brown crust on it. Today, I tried their chicken strips, potato wedges and biscuit. Delicious!, even the wedges, which I normally am not a fan of.

They serve Pepsi products which I cannot stand, but they also make Shirley Temples, which is what most of my family orders, and a drink called Green River. I am not sure I can explain the flavor of that.

The service is really good, too. There has only been one or two times that we been there while there was only one employee and a rush of people coming in. I have never seen that lone employee frazzled taking care of it all. She would handle it well, it just takes a little longer for your food. When the owners are there, they take time to chat with their customers and make sure the order was how you wanted it. One time I was not happy and they made it right quickly.

Save room for dessert. They serve both soft serve and hand dipped ice creams. Maybe a couple dozen different flavors of the hand-dipped. Always fresh too. I've never had any with freezer burn on top.

No, I do not work there, but our family thinks highly of them. We wish to support local places when we can. We live outside of Perry some ways, but think it is well worth the gas money spent to get there.
