Hillis Elementary School

Its all about the kids at Hillis Elementary School.
From the Principal Larry Streyffeler to the Janitorial Staff this school has a "top-notch" group of individuals that are there for one reason and one reason only - to provide an excellent empowering fun exciting education to our deserving K-5 children here on the NW side of Des Moines. Its not about politics and numbers at Hillis, it is about providing every kid that enters and their families with a school that helps them help themselves. A school they can be proud of and a staff that helps empower that pride in each child that attends Hillis. Equal opportunity education and caring at its finest, not a school trying to "have total control" of your children but one that helps put you and your child in control of receiving a meaningful and complete K-5 education so they have the tools and attitudes to carry on to Middle School, High School and College. What more can I say except that with the problems we have existing in our citys school district these last few years, Hillis is doing what a school should be doing. It is a community, not just an elementary school full of teachers and children. Your child will not be a number here, they will each be a person deserving of respect. It is true that it takes a "village" to raise a child and here they have held true to that concept. Thanks Hillis for putting our childrens education first !!!
