Very good food, very good service. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for and the food is top notch.

I've only been here twice and each time was unsatisfactory. The food and service was not the best. The first time I came here our waitress forgot our appetizers and the second time I came here the waitress forgot our drinks and got my order wrong. Due to my dining experience the first time I probably wouldn't have came back but my little sister wanted to come here for her birthday so I decided to give it another chance. The food here is only okay, it's boring and bland and it is way overpriced for the quality of food you receive. There are many other restaurants that offer better Italian food at a cheaper price. Due to my experiences, I probably won't be eating here again.

We had a table of 6 and everyone at our table ordered a main meal for the menu. One of the couples in our party shared their meal with each other. Because they shared their meal together the waitress added additional $4 to our bill. I questioned the added charges to the waitress and she said it??s our policy to add the $4 to the bill since they shared their meals together even though everyone in our party ordered individual meals. I can agree with the added charges if they only ordered one meal and split it between them selves. $4 isn??t a big deal but it??s the principle of the matter for adding in the additional charges. Because of this I will never return to the Brown Bottle in Iowa City.

Pros: Food was average
Cons: Expensive, Service was poor
Brown Bottle is a nice restaurant for both family dinners or a date night. The food is consistently good and reasonably priced. The menu has a variety of items so that there's something for everyone.
4This is an upscale Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food is fantastic. It is on a quaint street with little parking, but you can park in a ramp or further away and walk because it's beautiful
5We had a late dinner on a Friday of a weekend football game. Our reservation got us right into our table. Service was good, though a little slow as they were still very busy that evening.
The menu has a wide variety with an emphasis on pasta. The pasta is excellent and served in decent sized portions. My son had the prime rib which was huge and very good. The salad and bread are excellent.
Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is very family friendly. It is located in downtown Iowa City and within walking distance of campus and some hotels.

This little cafe is right in the heart of the ped mall area and great people watching experiences while you dine. I recommend the salads and they have a great wine selection.
5WENT ON A COLLEGE VISIT FROM INDIANA AND HAD DINNER AT THE BROWN BOTTLE. WE WERE SEATED QUICKLY AND ORDERED DRINKS AND AN APPETIZER. THE BRUSCHETTA WAS JUST O.K. NOTHING SPECIAL--THEY COULD OF LEFT THE PEAS OFF OF IT! WE HAD 3 DIFFERENT PASTA DISHES AND EACH ONE WAS EXCELLENT. THEY ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR HOMEMADE LASAGNE. WALKED OUT OF THE PLACE QUITE FULL AND HAPPY.
