Ryan's Grill Buffet & Bakery

After being closed most of 2008 the restaurant reopened with a larger buffet and no steak house menu, The prices are still good and the choices are still wide but the healthy choices still need some help. Parents still don't watch their children but that is nothing new. I eat there about once a month and have never regretted any of my visits.

I see one person above had good sense to mention all the disgusting, rude, hyperactive children running around unsupervised in this establishment.
It's completely true, they pick up food with their grubby hands, drop it on the floor, lick it to taste it, and set it right back in the table for someone else to eat.
The food is mediocre. Most of it is deep fried, soaked in oil and butter, pre-made, processed, and instant. It may taste good to people who don't know much about food, but it is definitely not a good choice if you're trying to watch what you eat.

Pros: LOTS of food. Friendly service. Fair prices.
Cons: Piggy children. Fattening. Annoying clown.

I use to be a smoker and hated to go to Ryans for they are a smoke free restraunt. Now that I quit I enjoy the smoke free enviorment. Plus My kids love it Specially when Sparkles the Clown is makeing balloons. I dont see any unspervised kids except the teenagers. But its a great place to have family time. It is where I even had my wedding reception. No worries about what to cook there is plenty to choose from and the rolls are fantastic..

We used to go here quite a bit because the kids liked it and it was reasonably affordable. Now that the kids are old enough to watch the other (unescorted) kids around the food, they refuse to go back. I don't blame them.

This is slightly off-topic, but one of the problems in our society is the fact that parents shuffle their kids off to be raised by daycare centers and public schools. They learn their social skills from other kids their own age. As a result, as a group, they're a bunch of uncouth little tyrants. When these kids go to Ryans, they handle food with their hands then put it back for someone else to take; lick their fingers then handle more food; pick their noses then handle food, etc. And of course mom and dad are nowhere to be found, so there's nobody to keep an eye on them.

Ryans is a great place to go if you're fat and want to get fatter. Or if you don't get enough boogers in your food at home.

PROS: Cheap food in large quantities
CONS: Dirty little kids handle all your food before you eat it

I work for a sales floor and my team did SO WELL last friday I took them to Ryans....the food was spectacular for a group of six guys with neverending stomachs. We had quite the time...I think I might lose one of my employees (Chris) to Ryans considering how much he enjoyed seating people! LOL....We will be there again!

the food is not very good, but its super cheap, and if your really really hungry it is edible. The one nice thing is that the staff there is very friendly

This place is a nice place to eat at if your very hungry, sometimes you can catch them on special nights for maybe steak or fried fish or possibly everything else. Its only like $8 for the mega buffett and its worth if your hungry.

Desert is included in the salad bar, we do the mega bar only. We don't normally get any add ons. But that honey butter with your rolls is to die for!

One of the best buffets in Cedar Rapids and a must to visit. Great food. It can be a little crowded at times but since it is a good place it is worth the wait.

of all the all you can eat restaurants ryans is the most family friendle and i think the most reasonably priced as well.. i love their greens and salad bar while the kids like to make their own nachos and ice cream.
