My cat did not do well with both the insulin and the diab. cat food.
She was taken off both. The insulin (she actually got it only once/day because she refused to eat for the 2nd dose), and yet her insulin went from 477 to low to mid 80's within 7-10 days.
The vet (Dr. Christy Fields) then put her on Diab. food. On abt. the 3rd day, my cat started having diah. & blood in her stools. Abt. a wk to 1 1/2 wk. she was taken off the food, & the diah & bld. in stools were gone. Dr. Fields' comment (as I was going to START) taking her off the Diab. food was "I just don't know what to do ". Leaving the customer hanging. She is supposedly the vet, yet SHE doesn't know or can't think of anything else to try???
Last fall, I noticed my cat shaking now & then & mentioned it to Dr. Fields, & she just had a questioned look on her face & shrugged her shoulders - NO ANSWER for it. DON'T GO TO HER. Now, suddenly, when she diagnoses my cat w/diabetes, she suddenly can think of the reasons why my cat may have been shaking for MONTHS?????
The staff can also be rather irresponsible. The same cat had also reacted badly to an arthritis med. I'd asked their office for a listing of the side effects of the med; their office staff first of all told me that cats DON'T respond that way; I asked them if they could get /copy information of the side effects. The staffs answer was "Do you really want us to get up & get that book down???"
Another time my cat reacted badle to a med. I'd gone up to their office & they - both a staff member & Dr. Fields BOTH brushed off my descripion of my cat reacting 'wildly' to a medication given by the Emerg. vet. And this office again told me that cats do not respond in this way, nor did they have any information to print out. Yet on my own computer I could find information stating things like foaming at mouth, sudden fearfulness/hiding, then sudden friendliness, crouching, & other 'bizarre' behavior & this beterinary office just BLEW it OFF.
BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR CHOICE OF STAYING WITH THIS OFFICE.

We love Kimberly Pines and have been taking our animals there for years and years. I think Dr. Moulton is one of the kindest, most professional, caring veterinarians around. I would never hesitate taking one of my beloved pets to him
