I have had amazing experiences each of the 2 times I have made a vehicle purchase at Billions. I had done a bit of research on the SUV I wanted and was thrilled that the salesman (Mike) filled me in on the things I didn't know! I am quite sure I will go there again in a couple years when I am ready to trade!

Thsi is absolutley the worst experience I have ever had!! STAY AWAY!! I went there looking for a used Civic for my wife, first of all it took forever to get a price. Apparently their internet department and their sales department are seperat so they were trying to charge me more than they advertised it for. What sense does it make to have a seperate internet department anyway??? Like who doesn't use email anymore.

Anyway, after getting switched around three people all telling me different stories about the car, I finally thought I had the car purchased for the price we agreed upon WRONG!! The whole place was running around like chickenss with their heads cut off. Turns out that the dealership is no longer owned by the Iowa owners, instead by one of these new mega groups from South Dakota. You sure could tell, I like everyone but the managers talk like hillbillies and it is not a friendly atmosphere.

I spent the next 30 minutes listening to a high pressure pitch about their cerification warranty process and other tiems that I didn't want, especially since their warranty wasn't even from Honda. Finally I had enough and we left! Wow, it was really bad!

It's not just Billion - my guess is it's the whole industry. But on my last check up they tried to convince me my brakes needed replacing - they told me the "measurements" of the brakes and were very convincing. Luckily I had the presence of mind to tell them I had to consult with my husband - who told me to take it over to the Brake place on Riverside. Those guys - specialists - put the car up, inspected it free of charge, and told me I had no need of new brakes.
My guess is Billion was just sticking to the average amount of time I owned this vehicle. But I always feel like the foolish female when I go into these places.
That said - I had a miserable experience with a Honda in Wisconsin who totally overcharged me for a fix. I brought it to Billion and they fixed it for the going rate I found online and did a superb job. The National Honda company ended up paying for my Wisconsin experience in total because they knew they had messed up.
I have only met very nice people in the Billion service department.

I just recently purchased an SUV here. The reason is I wanted to buy a new, safe vehicle for my daughter who was about to be born.

I was told the vehicle was fine. It wasn't. I expressed concern about the brakes when I test drove it but the salesman, who was less than a month on the job... told me it was probably nothing. Foolishly I believed him.

I didn't test the air conditioner that day because it was cool. But guess what? The air conditioner doesn't work at all! You can imagne my horror the first time I took my new born daughter out with this van only to discover the brakes were in bad condition and there was no air conditioning.

We called them to see what could be done. We were treated very rude, and it felt like they were trying to suck out as much additional cash from me as possible to fix it.

On top of that, just trying to buy the car was a headache in itself. I came in, picked the vehicle I wanted in 5 minutes, test drove it for 10 and was ready to pay for it in full with a check.

You'd think that we could've gotten in and out quickly. Nope. Took 3 hours because of how inefficient they are.

They wanted to clean and detail the car and the wet behind the ears salesman told me 5 minutes. 45 minutes later it was finally done.

Good grief.

I am a high level professional and my time is valuable as my bill out rate for clients is $250 an hour. They cost me $750 in lost work time just trying to buy a car that I was ready to purchase, check in hand, when I got there.

They have since cost my assistant considerable time - which I pay for - as she and I have been on the phone trying to resolve these mechanical problems which were conveniently hidden from me at the time of purchase.

I feel like a fool - I shouldn't have to bring a mechanic with me to purchase a car... but I guess I will from now on, just to make sure I don't get taken for a ride like I did with billion honda.

I am usually a good natured person but when you put my new born daughter at risk I get a little perturbed. I have serveral influencial business connections in Iowa city and I have told them to avoid this place, and they in return have told their customers.
