I wouldn't take my car there if they were free. I can't stand the commercials, that high pitched, prissy, whiny voice of "Ron" This commercial comes on and I can't change the channel quick enough. If they got rid of him on the commercials,

It was like a SPA for my car! Westside is clean and professional, I watched tv in the private waiting room while enjoying a complimentary beverage. When the work was done they came and got me and took me back to show me what they did and explain the repairs - this has never happened anywhere else! The repairs ended up costing me $50 less than I was quoted at another shop and I felt when I left that I had made a good decision - they earned my trust in just one visit. I will recommend this shop to all my friends and family!

Called Westside Auto Pros to get my vehicle checked out. They claimed it would cost $100 to do a thorough check up. When I brought my vehicle in the check up price was $120.00. Early afternoon I received a phone call with my vehicle status. They stated what needed to be repaired and claimed repairs would cost $400.00 and made recommendations on other items I should have fixed. I told them I would discuss the repair options with somebody I know who is knowledgeable about auto repairs. After discussing the repair problems and calling them back they stated they forgot to add in some of the repair costs and jacked the price up another $300. At that point I decided the repairs could be made by somebody who was more trustworthy. I was burned on the 120.00 but who knows how much more they would have charged me for repairs.

My tire went flat on my way home from work. I work second shift and no one was open. AAA sent someone from Westside Auto Pros who put the little tire that come as a spare on. The next day they were able to fix my tire and put it back on. I am glad they were able to come out at night and help me.

My car has had a problem for 6 months. It has a mind of it's own. Several times a week it just will not start. Four shops have tried to fix it replacing hundreds of dollars of parts. I gave Westside Auto Pros a try based on their reputation and on the first visit they replaced a part for $400 dollars. The very next day it did not start and they towed it back. This time they installed a $200 part and said it was fixed. They also paid for the tow and gave me my original $400 back. Two months later it still starts everytime and I am happy!

*** WORST REPAIR SHOP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO *** DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! I recently needed my water pump replaced in my vehicle. i came to westside auto because the originally quoted me $350 to do the work. I had 3 other qoutes in the same price range but opted for westside because it was closer to my work than the others. after i scheduled a time i did some reading online and saw all the bad reviews. i almost cancelled my appointment based off of what i read but then i thought that ""only people who get poor service write reviews"" and i gave them a chance. WORST IDEA EVER ! they contacted me halfway through the day and stated it would be $500 to replace but would not give me a reason for the difference in price. i was needing my vehicle done as soon as possible so i just told them to do the work. 2 days after i had the work done my vehicle started to act funny. the gauges would tick up very high (never happened before), my heat was kicking in and out (never happened before) and it eventually went out 7 days after my ""work was done"" and now it was leaking engine coolant at a very high rate. my car is not old and is not a junker and this was not anywhere close to being a normal thing. i took my vehicle into my dealer (very trustworthy and where i have always gone except for this one time) and they advised me that the water pump that was put into my vehicle did not have the correct size fittings and therefor was ABSOLUTE JUNK in my vehicle. I had to replace it at my dealer 2 weeks after i had the work done at westside auto. now i went back to westside auto the day after i got my vehicle back in working order with a new water pump that WAS MEANT FOR MY VEHICLE. i let them know what happened and even showed them a write up from a CERTIFIED repair shop showing what was wrong and i was told i would be taken care of and they would respond back to me via phone later that afternoon. i called back in 4 times that afternoon and was blown off each time. NOT ONCE DID SOMEONE TRY TO CONTACT ME BACK AS I WAS TOLD! i finally got a response the next day (again i had to make the contact) and this is what i was told: THEY ARE NICE ENOUGH AND WILLING TO GIVE ME A $200 STORE CREDIT ON A FUTURE REPAIR. **!!!! WWWHHHAAAATTTTTT !!!!*** ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! I spent $500 on an originally quoted $350 water pump replacement that was done by a negligent repair shop that ended up messing my vehicle up more after the fact and not only do i not get my money back but these jokers think i am going to bring my vehicle in for another future repair ??? And to think that when i brought in the crap water pump they tossed in my vehicle they tried to take it back without giving me that portion of my money also. I wonder how long that would have sat in the shop before they tried to dump in the next person looking for HELP - probably would have gone into the very next car. THIS PLACE IS USELESS IN REPAIR AND EVEN WORSE IN SERVICE. Please believe in all the bad reviews of this ""repair"" shop and DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING NEAR THIS BUSINESS FOR REPAIR!!! Also read into the positive reviews because 4 out of 5 of the good ones are from the owner himself trying to defend his ""business"" from all the bad reviews. Here is an idea: do respectable work and treat people the right way and EARN GOOD REVIEWS!!! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Give yourselves a hand Westside Auto Pros! Hopefully your business won't be around too much longer to lie, cheat and steal money from people.

I dropped it off for an engine diagnostic and brake repair. They didn't call me that day to give me a status update, I had to call them. The following day, they called at 11:30 am right before they go to lunch, to ask for authorization to do the brakes. They didn't get done until 3 pm, which is when I was supposed to be at work. They could only tell me that the spark plugs were misfiring, but they would have to fix them before they could finish diagnostic. I lost wages because they took an entire day to diagnose a misfire.

My air conditioner quit working and I was supposed to go out of town the next day. I called Allen and explained my situation. He got me in and fixed that same day. The compressor was bad and I really liked that they gave me an option of a new part or rebuilt. While I do not like car repair bills, it was good to do business with friendly people who understood my situation, thank you Auto Pros.

I just recently move to Des Moines. My car had recently been reving on it's own and had been overheating. Took it to this place because I had read about all the good things people said on these reviews. NOT! Needless to say they claimed it was my thermostat. A tow charge of $80 for 3 miles away. Then the total bill was $380. I did get an oil change but apparently the thermostat only costs about 20-30. AND it should only take about 15 min to fix. They told me my car was to be ready by 5 and I received a call 15min before telling me that it wouldn't be done till the morning. The next day I called multiple times asking the status of my car and they told me someone would call back. Finally at 5 that night they dropped my car off. WITH NO FUEL! I had just filled up my car when it broke down. They tried to tell me that the test drive is only 2miles and it was 3miles to drop it off at my work. Then they admitted there were 12miles driven on my car. IT doesn't take that much gas for 12 miles. I wasn't able to test drive it because I needed to make it home, when I left work at 830pm I turned my car on and the brake and abs light were on. When I backed up there was a huge bang under my car. Every time since when I turn the steering wheel something Pops really loud and IT DIDN""T DO THAT AT ALL BEFORE I TOOK IT THERE! The next day now my trac off light is back on also. Needless to say, yea my car isn't over heating for now. But it's about to break something else which I didn't have before, I had to get a fuse for the brake also. They dropped it off and that light was on because I had no fuse in my car for the ABS. WTF? I would NOT reccommend this place to anyone unless you have time and money to waste and want to risk having something else broken on your vehicle!\n

My engine overheated on I-35; I called AAA, the tow truck came, and I went to Westside Auto Pros at the recommendation of AAA. AAA customers are "guaranteed" a 1-hour turn-around to receive a diagnostic evaluation of what is wrong with the car. I waited an hour and 45 minutes. The diagnostic alone cost over $100. The problem? I needed new radiator hoses and a coolant flushing. Total cost (including the diagnostic) -- $598.98 -- $216 of which was for "labor" on what couldn't have been more than a 45-minute job, my car-savvy mechanic friends tell me. Called my own mechanic when I got home -- he gave me an estimate for the same work of a little over $300. Maybe being an out-of-towner just passing through inspired Westside Auto Pros to make a little extra money off of me. Very disappointed -- and robbed.

I drive an older car and it is by no means perfect. When I go to Westside Auto Pros, they always look things over and offer me advice. I choose to keep it safe and reliable, but not everything needs to be fixed. I choose to live with small oil leaks and my ABS light being on. I never feel pressure from this place to fix stuff. They tell me the pros and cons and let me decide. Easy to do business with.

I took my Camry to the dealer for a recall. They did the recall work and told me I needed a timing belt and some other work. My Dad works for AAA and told me to get another opinion from Westside Auto Pros. I went there. They confirmed the need for the timing belt and the radiator flush, but felt the other suggested items could wait a while longer. I appreciated their honesty and will continue to go there. They completed the work on my car the same day.

AAA suggested I have my car towed to Westside when it would not start. I am in Des Moines attending Drake and did not know where to go. They were able to get me in that day and let me know in advance of the testing costs. They called me later in the day to let me know my fuel pump was not working. Westside got my car fixed that day with no hidden surprises on the final bill. Their service was fast and very professional.

My car would sometimes not shift up in gears. I took it to a shop and they replaced some parts for $200. It still did not work, so they sent me to a transmission shop who said it needed to be rebuilt for a lot of money. I was looking for a second opinion and read about Westside Auto Pros on line. I went there and they found a bad wire to one of the sensors. They found the real problem and fixed it. My car works fine now. The mechanics there are very smart.

My check engine light was on. I called the dealer and they said it was probably nothing and gave me an appointment two days out. That night I was getting gas at QT and it would not start, it was 10:30 pm and the dealer was closed. The clerk at QT told me to call Westside Auto Pros emergency number. I did and they sent a tow truck. They fixed it the next day. Turns out I should NOT of continued driving with the check engine light on and was given poor advice by the dealer guy. I will continue to use Westside Auto Pros, they were very helpful.

Wow ! I am glad I found this place. My car is my lifeline for getting the kids to school and myself to work. When it was not running smoothly I went to Westside Auto Pros. They were upfront with me and said it would be the next day before they could look at it, but gave me a free loaner car to use. The next day Brian called me with an update, a $300 part was needed, but they could also get a rebuilt version for $190. He said he would trust the rebuilt on his car, so I went with it. All is well and they even washed and vaccumed my car. Best of all, the final bill was $28.00 LESS than quoted. Nice clean shop that is honest and looks out for me. I have since refered my sister who also had a good expierence.

    Pros: Free loaner car

I have been taking my car to Westside for a couple of years and have always enjoyed good service and 1 day as I was running some errands before going out of town for a short trip my car started flashing a light on the dash and since I know nothing about cars I quickly called Westside and relayed my story and told Jeff how urgent it was to get it fixed since I was leaving to go out of town and he told me to drive it over immediately and they would see what they could do. Ten minutes later I was at Westside and within a few minutes my car was in the shop and another few minutes my washer fluid was replenished and after some good nature ribbing I was on my way out of town. It is this level of service that keeps me coming back and I know that my vehicles are in good hands. I always recommend Westside when asked and typically I do not recommend anyone as I am afraid it will come back on me but I have confidence in Westside.

    Pros: Quick and accurate service

Cons: Nothing that I have experienced

We were refered to Westside Auto Pros by AAA after we were told by another shop that we needed a head gasket (very expensive) on our Nissan. The staff at Westside were very friendly and explained their testing process and the related costs up front. Their tests showed our head gasket was fine, but there was a problem with the water pump. We had them replace it and now everything works fine. The owner, Ron, even called me a few days later to make sure all was well....I've never had that from a car repair shop! I can see why AAA refers people to this place.

Pros: Clean lobby, free shuttle, friendly staff, accurate diagnosis

Cons: Good car repair anywhere is expensive

I have used this place for 8 years. They not only know what they are doing with cars, they make the whole repair process easy. I usually use the shuttle service, but if the repair takes longer they give me a car to drive. Everyone is friendly and they are very trustworthy. Once I requested new brakes, and they told me they were ok, just needed to be adjusted. My car is always done on time. When they quote you a price, it is right on and there is never a surprise when you pick up your car. These guys are awesome ! Give them a try.

On a recent excursion through Des Moines, my vehicle got the hiccups! After visiting several other facilities who couldn't find the problem, I was recommended to Westside Auto Pros. They were very professional and understanding...and their mechanic found the problem (minor) very quickly and the bill was less than I was expecting. I was impressed! Thanks!

I have been using these guys for 10 years now and have watched them emerge froma small town Amoco mechanics station to their own business. Yhey are so thorough. If there is a car problem, and I have had them all, they will find the ailment. They are literally Nascar material. They are perfectionists though...and with that comes many reccomendations to "fix it all" which sometimes need to be sorted out...as well as pricey, but they semm honest and they know thier stuff!!

    PROS: Very Good mechanics...the best!!!!
    CONS: expensive at times!

    Message from Westside Auto Pros

Westside Auto Pros was started in 1997 by Ron Haugen and Paul Kennedy. Accurate repairs, pride in workmanship, and friendly customer care quickly grew this two bay facility to the 14 bay repair center it is today.
