Ratings_icons Too Much

e d.

I used to shop at this store A LOT and thought it was awesome. Now, not so much. Their selection is not nearly as good and their prices have gone completely out of sight. Too bad. It was a great place to shop at one time.

Ratings_icons Beware of designer knock-off purses at Boise Savers!!!

Angie I.

I visited my local Savers today and happened to stop by the jewelry counter, where apparently they have started storing the "high-end/designer" items as well, including jeans and handbags. They had a "Louis Vuitton" and a "Coach" in the case, priced at $120 and $90, respectively. I like purses myself, a LOT, actually, and upon a closer inspection, the bags were KNOCK-OFFS!!! Louis Vuitton never locates their "LV" letters where they would be cut off by a seam, and the "Coach" bag reeked of fake leather and had a totally bogus lining pattern inside. I spoke with "Cathy", who supposedly prices the bags, and she got very defensive, saying that the bags had "serial numbers inside" and other markings that made them authentic. DO YOUR RESEARCH, CATHY!!! I hope no one pays what this store is asking for their bogus bags. I'm writing a letter to the store manager...

Ratings_icons Savers.. Great deals.. just gotta dig!

Jennifer J.

I always seem to find great deals here. Great selection.. I just spent 3 hours there today rummaging through some great stuff! I spend about 20.00 there and came home with BAGS of clothes, silver wear, plates and other little neat things for my apartment.
People walk in expecting to find a treasure or something really cool the second they walk in... but its all about digging deep!!

I noticed that people tend to comment on the 'overpricing' a lot, so I wanted to explain this to people real quickly.

Savers is not simply a thrift store. The items that are donated are not free, as Savers pays The Arc for every donated item- even the ones that are brought into the store.

The Arc is Saver's non-profit partner, Saver's pays towards their valuable programs, including battered womens programs, and all sorts of other extremely important life changing programs...

Thus, Savers prices their items from 30% to 80% of regular pricing, as they still need to make profit to pay their employees.

This is why the prices are not thrift store prices, because Savers is constantly trying to improve our community. When you shop there and you pay more than regular thrift store prices, you are paying towards the Arc's awesome programs. Keep that in mind.

Savers does occasionally make pricing mistakes though, so feel free to ask a manager if you have a question in pricing.

If you're looking for good deals,

Thursday through Sunday a specific color will be fifty percent off, and then on that Monday the color that was fifty percent off will become a 99 cent item. So keep an eye out for their awesome sales.

And the reason for the racks being so full? They are required to supply customers with a certain amount of new selections a day, so sometimes it gets pretty crowded.

P.S. If something falls off a hanger and you aren't in a rush, please hang it up. Otherwise, you leave a lot of work for associates and they can't spend time making the store more shoppable for you.

Ratings_icons is this used or new?

Jessica G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,224

This store is selling used clothing and household items. but the prices are over the top. I could almost buy new clothes for the same prices.
The store is dirty and a lot of the items are just really old and junk-like. There are much better thrift stores in town. The coupon days are worth it though if you can find some good items.

Ratings_icons A Nicely Organized Thrift Store With HIGH Prices!!

Donna M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,311

If you like the thought of thrift store shopping, but don't go because of the clutter...Savers might be a happy medium for you. Savers is a very well organized store that has all the clothing grouped in sizes (go figure), and everything else in logical, easy-to-find places. You can find some incredible treasures there. They have designer clothing and housewares, new items, antiques, etc; HOWEVER...don't expect to pay thrift store prices here.

The pricing of this thrift store is very high compared to other stores in the area. Granted, you still will pay much less than the original price, but definitely not thrift store prices. For example, I just saw a designer pant set marked at $24.99, and it was a used item.

You can find some deals, you just have to look. They have sale days, which are great. They feature 99 cent Mondays and 50 percent off other days of the week. These sales are based on tag color.

Overall, I really like Savers, but I'm extremely picky when it comes to what I buy. I usually won't buy anything over about $12.99 unless it's on sale...so just be choosy and you'll have a great time here!!

PROS: Organized merchandise that is easy to go through!
CONS: Prices!!!

Ratings_icons Lots of selection, but needs washed

Suzanne R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,531

I enjoy shopping at Savers because it is in a neighborhood full of thrift shops, and it is part of the list of stores I hit. It is a big store, and has lots of selection, but it is usually pretty dirty. Everything needs washed when it comes home, and I feel like I need to wash my hands as soon as I leave. But I have found some great deals there in the past.

Ratings_icons Depends on the day

Heather H. | insider Insider | Rank: 22,247

Usually, the associates are very busy. I find that most of them seem "put out" when you need special assistance. The store is pretty dirty. It is a second hand store so it is normal for items to not be in the best shape, but I think they need to take more time cleaning things up before they display them. I will continue to shop here, however because it is close and I like their sales. Some things are way over priced for being used.

PROS: sales, selection
CONS: cleanliness, lack of politeness of associates, many overpriced items
