I am biased so take it for what it's worth. I began working here 8 years ago as a server and moved up to assistant manager and now GM. The great food is an unmatched value anywhere. This is due to the margins the kitchen is given to work with. House made booze (1st on site Distillery/Pub in the U.S.) provides the extra cash to support this. Portions are very good to sometimes as big as in Texas. (I worked in Austin for 5 years) Menu is extensive and easily broken down into apps, satays, entree salads, sandwiches/burgers & lastly entrees. The place is big & casual...no hosts, no reservations...ie act like you own the place...walk in and scope out the seat you want and grab it or ask for assistance. The staff will find you so don't worry, you may be served by just one or eight people depending on the business. They are very knowledgeable and work as nice team. The Cocktail Program is tops in the city...Multiple award winning and has a menu and a Rolodex to back it up. The bartenders have all been here for years...no rookies! Lastly, besides producing high quality Gin, Rum, Vodka & Lemon Vodka we make in house desserts like White Chocolate-Banana Bread Pudding and Creme Brulee (Flavor of the Week???) as well as Small Batch Ice Creams (Scotch or Hot Buttered Rum) spiked with booze or without (Vanilla) for the kids. It'll take you a few times of coming in before you can truly appreciate this Boise staple. I'd recommend becoming a regular like myself. I don't just work here. My wife and I eat here regularly on our dates. Most industry folks avoid their workplace when making dining decisions...my choice is a relatively easy one.

Pros: All of it!

Cons: A bit noisy if your romancing.

I am a regular! I can't get enough of their food and love their cocktails. Great beer and wine selection. The service is always exceptional and the outdoor patio has beautiful flowers in the summer time!

Loved this restaurant. Located on a small lake, it is a wonderful place to hang out in the summer and drink martini's from ice blocks. In the winter is is just as breathtaking with a winter view. The food was amazing. The presentation of the kabobs on these ornate wrought iron plates was stunning. I must recommend the salmon, to die for.

They have a great variety of delicious salads. My favorite is the grilled shrimp salad. Service however is sometimes slow. Allowing smoking on the patio is annoying.

Food was cold and the waitresses were unfriendly. There are so many good places in downtown Boise, cross this one off your list.

Pros: Not very expensive

Cons: Everything else

This is one of two locations for this restaurant here in the Treasure Valley. The other is located next to the Boise River and Marriott hotel in Eagle. Casual place, either way, not the kind of place I would want to go for a romantic evening out, but decent food, a little overpriced. I would suggest it for a wonderful drink, especially the Huckleberry infusion, made with Huckleberry puree, sparkling wine, and Huckleberry Vodka. Very tasty drink to sip, but not much drink for a whole lot of money. They serve it in a martini glass, but charge almost 8 bucks for it, a little pricey for the small amount. If they were to lower the price of their specialty drinks I would be more apt to have a few instead of just one. The food is good stuff though, and perfect for a nice bite before or after another date destination.

Went to Bardenay based on friend's recommendation and insiderpages review. Very disappointed!!!! Service was extremely SLOW. Steak arrived almost COLD and server only offered to comp a couple of drinks (like this happens all the time... would much rather had a hot steak! Drinks were good, but there are much better restaurants in Boise!

PROS: Good drinks.
CONS: Slow service. Cold food. Server doesn't really understand customer.

Loved the Ginger Bellini! Wonderful club sandwich and it was available to order just half. Great place. Not so busy on a weeknight that there was a wait for a table but not many empty tables at any time either. Great place! I'm not knocking the service or value, just nothing absolutely spectacular....

Pleasant enough restaurant. Tasty food. Lovely Gin made in house. Nice adult atmosphere. Food is a little overpriced, though.

Great food and great atmosphere Bardenay is always worth a visit. Take a tour of the distillery. Where else can you drink alcohol that was prepared on site. The salmon sandwich is delicious as is everything else on the menu. Situated right on the Basque block, Bardenay is a great choice any time of year.
