I have celiacs disease which means I can't eat anything with gluten. This is a common food allergin. The Co-op carries the best selection of specialty gluten-free pastas, breads, waffles, soy sauce, etc. of any business in town. I have recenlty discovered that many of the bulk items are gluten free and cheaper than the packaged items.
They haven't had many bakery items in the past week that are gluten-free but they have in the past...maybe just a bad week. I loved the scones and would like to see dinner rolls or a warm sourdough substitute.
Two downsides: very pricy foods, sometimes rude/snobby fellow customers

We can't afford to go there for everything, but they have excellent produce, foods, and products (many, many of which are not offered elsewhere in the area) and their hours are great. What's not to love? I don't blame them for their prices. They are in line with the product quality, and are akin to the prices at Whole Foods and Central Market (for people who have shopped at those places before). Sure, I get most my stuff from Winco. BUT, I love the buying experience and the items at this store, and shop here, too, for specialty items and those things which I'm not willing to compromise on quality for.

The Moscow Co op is a splendid place for those who are mindful of the junk added to low cost foods these days. The meat department is a new addition to this new location. I can say it's been a wonderful experience to shop there and also buy meat with peace of mind. They have a very nice selection of specialty meats. I really enjoy the friendly staff and large array of natural and organic foods. The produce is well stocked with local emphasis in mind. Aisle after aisle of healthy choices. I spend quite some time admiring the deli items and fresh baked breads. I for one am very pleased with what they've done with the store and will continue to support a store like this that gives me a choice of healthier foods.

PROS: Friendly staff great selection
CONS:

They don't have a lot of parking and the prices are high, but they also carry many things the other grocery stores don't - especially organic and vegan/vegetarian food- and for people with dietary restrictions (like allergies). For me, I only go to Moscow Food Co-op a couple times a year - beacuse WinCo fits my budget and has a larger meat section.

PROS: Wide selection of organic foods
CONS: EXPENSIVE

they just moved into a larger building last month and re-opened recently. they seems doing well by virtue of having lots of organic food. their prices are pretty high on these organic stuff yet it seems many local residents make it the regular shopping for groceries there (I am not one of them, though). the food court may be good to have your saturday brunch there. recommended.

I visited the Moscow Food Coop recently as it has just opened a new, bigger location. On this particular trip, I was also going to visit the Goodwill store that was located right next to their building. I was immediately stopped by a coop worker and instructed that if I was visiting any other store (even though I was also shopping at coop) that I was not permitted to park in their lot. This was a major turn off and I felt very violated. They lost my business that day due to a rude worker. The next time I visited, I took notice that they are selling meat such as turkey burger at extremely high prices. Why would I want to shop somewhere that won't allow me to support other local businesses and pay a higher price. 2 thumbs down!

PROS: Good location
CONS: Very high prices

Now upsized to its new location on Washington across from Goodwill and Howard Hughes Video, the co-op offers a wide variety of fresh meats, a bakery/deli, frozen foods, vegetables, fruit and a wide variety of organic and 'alternative' selections for people with allergies or specific food requirements (like vegans.) It is a bit more expensive, but patrons go here for the good food and selection, not for the price. If all you need is inexpensive food, go to WinCo.

one of the most interesting stores in the town. it is specialized in various organic food. most local people like it, albeit their prices are considerably higher that usual grocery stores. you can become a member (for a fee) and get a discount for many items though. they have a lot of hard to find items. worth a visit. they are doing very well and just in this month they are expanding and moving to a larger space vacated by the closed gart sports (also a fine store I am sorry to see them closing). has a small food court, as well.

Winco food is the most inexpensive grocery for 100 miles around. It is almost the only source of food for us. You can find anything you want, from cucumber to band-it.Although some foods are not as high-grade as you can find in Safeway, it still provides the most steady and authentic food in Moscow-pullman area.
