First off Mira was not the owner of the essence of you, it was still owned by Dr. Durboraw, mira was doing a lease to own, secondly if your wanting to get your money back from gift certificates i would recommend you contact Dr. Durboraw.

First and foremost I want to apoligize to every clieint for what happend with the gift cerficates and any other negitive exsperiance you may have had its a horrible situation. It saddens me that Miras actions may have reflection on me as a person of integrity. I love being a massage therapist and helping people and I know my dear friends and co-workers have the same attitude.
I want to be the first to let you all know Mira is a lyer and is probably telling BBB lyes to get them to get off her back she will say anything to get out of this situation she has created for herself. And yes there was a problem with the lease she quit making payments on the spa months prior to it shutting down.
She did not tell any of us the spa was closing we showed up for our scheduled shifts to signs on the door. The people that got a chance to confront her about the spa and salary were lyed to first hand.
I want to let everyone know there is a good chance she is not coming back. We never received our last paychecks or tips. Its frustrating because we all worked very hard during the two weeks around valintines day. A couple of staffs paychecks before the last paycheck we were supposed to recieve bounced putting staff with overdrafts in there bank account. She still lyes and says our paychecks were sent out weeks ago but we all know better now.
She will say anything to get out of paying anyone..

I just contacted the BBB about the Essence of You closing. I have a gift certificate that was given to me that I have not used yet. The BBB said the owner let them know that she is planning on opening in a new location and will honor the gift certificates when she has a new location. There was evidently some issue with her lease.

I really think that some kind of legal action needs to be taken against her for the customers with gift cards and the employees that she didn't pay. This is so unethical and is robbery. Someone would be prosecuted if the robbed a bank.

Horrible. The outside of the building was gorgeous but i expected the treatments and the staff to mirror that. I came in for a manicure and pedicure and was less than satisfied. The color options werent impressive and the lady who did them seemed more interested in hurrying and making money than doing a good job. Not to mention the price itself was a little outrageous especially for the job done. To top it off I overheard the staff talking badly about their owner and from the reviews below I can see why. When I went to pay the owner was upfront with the girls and seemed intoxicated or on some sort of drug. I could smell the alcohol from across the desk. At that point I just wanted to leave so I paid and I will never go back.
This place is unproffesional and not a place to go if you want to relax. Perfect place for gossip and poor treatment.

This is my review as a client. The spa is a great place to go to for a Massage. The atmosphere was wonderful and the massage was ok...not the best, but the atmosphere helped with that. BUT I have gone in on several occassions for Bare Minerals foundation and it is never in stock. For some reason, they only order 12 at a time, and the day they get it in, its gone. If you want it you almost have to prepay to make sure you get it, but the last time I prepaid, it didn't even arrive until 5 days AFTER they told me it was going to. Sage Day Spa in Rexburg also carries the product, and they have it ALL the time, so thats where I will go from now on. No price difference, just a short drive but hey at least I'll have makeup when I run out! The last time I purchased some, the girl at the counter, which wasn't the girl thats usually there, sold it to me without mentioning it was the Matte foundation. I didn't want the Matte. I don't like it. The owner then harrassed me as to why I don't like Matte asking a hundred questions. First of all, the dark haired girl that usually works the makeup counter usually clarifies which one you want, but since they didn't have any, they just wanted to make a buck and sell what was there so they didn't tell me. I then had to turn around once I got home, and go back for a refund. SUPER ANNOYING! NEXT...the owner is a drunk! Everytime I have ever spoken with her while she was there, she has smelt like booze. I actually overheard employees talking about how they have seen her drink 2-3 bottles of wine at work, and then she questions them when its gone...like she just forgot that she drank it! That doesn't sound very professional. All I know from my experiences, is that this place when it was owned by Dr Durborough, was an amazing establishment...and it is just going downhill. I feel sorry for the owner, its unfortunate for her, but maybe she should have a mental checkup before trying to own a business again.

I went here to get my roots colored and figured they would do a good job because they charge so much!!! $130 WRONG!!!!! They turned my roots ORANGE! Then I went back the next day to have them fix it for free, which was nice, but this person only weaved very quickly through the orange and atleast half of it was still there! GROSS! I thought they were picking out the orange pieces but they didn't and they even went over my low lights bringing them up to an orange color while they brought the orange that they managed to actually foil up to a yellow blonde but still not as light as I wanted. The owner refused to give me my money back saying I should have said something before I left and she would have to see it herself. Great but I didn't realize it was still THAT orange until I got home. (The lighting in there is awful!) Plus I did not have the time or the patience or the gas to go down and have them do it again nor did I want them to touch my hair again! I had already made two trips from up by St. Anthony to have them ruin it! Supposedly I got the very experienced person the second day, but even I know lowlights and gold roots will not pull the same duh! Also they burnt my head trying to tone out the orange which is obvioulsy not going to work, then they were in such a hurry they did not leave the foils in long enough. When they were done foiling they simply started taking them out. Service was awful also. They pulled on my hair so hard I wanted to cry, and samcked me in the head with their blow dryer they were in such a hurry (or because they were to hopped up on rockstar.) Seriously they were shaking. If I had gone back I doubt I would have been happy with that result either. I've since had someone else fix it for a reasonable price ($35 bucks because they felt bad I had wasted so much money at this place and they had heard awful things from their other customers about the Essence also!)

I have to say that all the experiences I have had with Essence of You Day Spa - as a customer - have been great! I truly enjoy the pampering and the building is breath taking! It is just really relaxing. However, that being said, I have dealt with the owner in my own personal career (no, not in the beauty industry at all) and I can see where some of these comments regarding her could come from. She is abrasive and difficult to take at times. I do not agree, AT ALL, with reprimanding your employees in the public eye! That is to be done separate from other employees and most certainly away from clients. I do recommend the Spa because of the number of fabulous services they offer and the staff (as far as I have seen ?) are very courteous and intuit to their client's needs. Also, I have not personally seen the owner behave as others have noted, I can only say that knowing her in the business ventures I do, I can visualize the scene. I just hope that when she reads this, she does not take this as an attack, but as a word of advise. You are responsible to keep employees' integrity and drive up, but there is a time and a place to deal with certain situations. Much love and respect for an amazing Spa here in good ole' IF!

Well to Alecia W. I have been with The Essence of You Day Spa for almost a year and I have yet to have a problem. I was working here the same time that you were and I know the whole story behind you! and why you no longer work here. You don't have problems with Mira (the Owner) when you show up to work on time, when you do your job and when you actually do what you are told to do. GO FIGURE! You were unable to maintain your employment because you couldn't do your job. You called in at least twice a week. you were un professional while you were at work, and there were times that you called in sick after your shift had started or in the middle of the night sounding as though you were intoxicated. Mira wasn't the only deciding factor in your release from your job. You had your department managers whom had to dealk with you and your inability to work. You chose that path for yourself and I am sorry that you are bitter about your life. Your position could have been a better and you could have grown with the company but you chose not to take your job seriously.

There have been numerous reviews that have attacked me personally. As a devoted business owner, I wanted to take the time to respond and voice my concern for such vicious comments. I am continually bombarded with downright cruel remarks, such as being called a names, for doing the best I can to grow a business and benefit the struggling economy. Firing employees is an unfortunate part of being a business owner. But I cannot stand by while members of the staff lie, cheat and steal. I am put under attack for dismissing employees who lack the morales and good worth ethics that they should have learned in the home. My clients are very important to me, which is why I ensure that I give them the best experience. We try, but that doesn??t mean there won??t be people, that for one reason or another, do not enjoy the Essence. I encourage those people to voice their opinions to me so that I can continue to improve the quality of our services. I am also aware that many of the comments come from previous staff members who left of bad terms. You are entitled to your opinion, but waging a savage Internet attack with vulgar comments and false accusations is not the answer.
Our team is extremely tight knit. We are a family, which is why it surprises me so much that people accuse me of being mean to them. My staff is aware of how deeply I care for them, and to be perfectly frank, as long as they know my good intentions and are happy, I'm happy. Vindictive people are free to say what they want, but I wish they voiced their opinions more responsibly. The Essence of You is livelihood of all of its employees. the My staff is able to put food on the table because of the amazing group of clients we have and the hard work we put in. However, when people use their personal vendetta or anger against me to hurt the business, they do not realize they are hurting the very employees they seem so concerned about. I hope that any client, past, present or future, comes to talk to me if they feel any concern over these posts. I will be more than happy to speak to you and show you why the Essence of You is such a fabulous place.

I take it back... The employees try to be nice but I didn't realize that the owner has a reputation in town of being horrid and I have now witnessed it firsthand.

Mira screams at employees in front of her clientele and seems oblivious to the fact she is verbally abusing them. I saw several people verbally abused and two employees in tears. I also talked to the employees and no one stays because of this tyrant AND she doesn't allow the employees to take their fed and state REQUIRED lunch breaks even when they work an eight hour shift.

If you care about how her employees are treated and also don't come to a spa to LISTEN to screaming, GO to other salons and tell you friends not to go here... Maybe this witch will sell it and we can all return to the salon I remember.

Mira I suggest getting in Tabatha Coffey to help you learn how to OWN a salon. She would tell you what a *unt you really are...

Two weeks ago I went in to Essence of You to have a corrective cut because I received a horrible cut at a different salon in town. I met with Zack who did my consultation and TOTALLY understood how I had wanted my hair. He not only fixed what the other salon messed up but also colored and highlighted my hair in such a beautiful way that I have had compliments everyday for the last two weeks.

BTW Essence is now open on Sundays and it totally worked with my schedule. I will be returning here instead of the other Brumble and Brumble salon in town

I'd just like to add that i too work at the day spa and recently moved here from the Boise area . Being from Boise i can tell you that the essence of you is exactly what a day spa of its caliber is suppose to be.
We have an amazing staff of people that are eager to please. Each department has very talented people in it that are considered the master in our industry. Here at the essence of you we work very hard to give you what you want, we pamper one client at a time.

Since working here i have received two services that are amazing, a mud wrap i would highly recommend that it was the best thing ever, made my skin moisturized and i was so relaxed i went home and slept 12 hours. I also received my first facial i know now what Ive been missing!!! I had a second one which was the fountain of youth facial and omg my crows feet are almost gone.

If for some reason your not happy with any of our services all you have to do is tell us, we are human too and make errors.

I'd just like to add that i too work at the day spa and recently moved here from the Boise area . Being from Boise i can tell you that the essence of you is exactly what a day spa of its caliber is suppose to be.
We have an amazing staff of people that are eager to please. Each department has very talented people in it that are considered the master in our industry. Here at the essence of you we work very hard to give you what you want, we pamper one client at a time.

Since working here i have received two services that are amazing, a mud wrap i would highly recommend that it was the best thing ever, made my skin moisturized and i was so relaxed i went home and slept 12 hours. I also received my first facial i know now what Ive been missing!!! I had a second one which was the fountain of youth facial and omg my crows feet are almost gone.

If for some reason your not happy with any of our services all you have to do is tell us, we are human too and make errors.

Have to say, when I first visited the Essence of You Day Spa several years ago, I was in awe of the service as well as the venue. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely, the employees delightful -- and it was the only place in town with products that tackled the problem areas of my delicate skin. Not to mention that the building itself -- a refurbished, historic home -- is a gem.

Sometime later, however (long after I'd begun referring to myself as a frequent customer), things seemed to unravel. Gone were the products I'd relied upon for my difficult skin, gone were many of the tandem services I'd so enjoyed with friends and family, and worse, it seemed the customer focus had faded entirely. Like another reviewer here -- I'd leave each appointment feeling as though I'd accomplished nothing, and wasted my money in the process. Still, I wanted to believe that things would improve, and that the wonderful experiences I'd had previously could be restored. It took a series of bungled appointments, and a rather embarrassing incident involving what was meant to be a wonderful gift for my friend (they certainly did their best to make reparations for their blunder, and I'll not go into detail, but some things can't really be rectified) to turn me off of this place entirely.

I whole-heartedly wish I could recommend this business to potential customers, but the best I can say at this point is that the building is still incredibly beautiful.

I wouldn't ever go here again. My friend and I watched the boss rip her employee a new one. It was ridiculous and the poor girl was so embarrassed, her eyes were welling up with tears. I would like to think it's not a regular occurrence, but after the boss left, all the employees were talking about how that's "just how she is". I watched them cower when she walked into the room. It was disgusting. I'm embarrassed for that lady. I don't think anyone should give money to a company that allows their employees to be treated that way.

so i want to say something about the last comment without coming off rude... k .. so i work at the spa and i really enjoy it so far... so i can totally relate to how u feel ... its hard finding someone u can trust to do ur hair (im growing mine out) ... and its just no fun sitting there waiting... and wondering is this going to turn out... right...
but with the alcohol thing i know that its not the only thing served ... and all u have to say is no thank you ...

with the color thats terrible ... but i know the guy he is just like me ... he does a great job and is willing to do whatever it takes to please the customer (ocd haha...).. and also i know that he wasnt fired from great clips you can go in and ask (its not a good thing so say about people when you say things about them without really hearing it from the source) ... id say a good time to just foil hair take around 45 min. .. and processing time around 30 min .. give or take a few ... and from what i checked that whole month he pretty much had 2-3 services per client... so im thinking there was cut or another color thrown in there... something .. if not well im not sure .. but im thinking it wasnt that 5-6hrs.. but im sure it felt longer..

but either way i know all of us ask what you think about the service and if there is anything else we can do for you afterwards.. we want all of you to feel great (i know i dont want to go to the mall and see something bad that ive done) ... and if it honestly doesnt seem like its what you expected than there isnt anything wrong with say you dont like it .. and i totally understand you already spent most of that day there but we are always willing stay later or re-schedule another day ... any thing we can do ...

also my advise is to try and get a client consiltation prior to the service if it is a color or something like that ... and also i wouldnt plan on doing a color or take alot of hair off ... any kind of change.. if ... your going on a trip...
or getting married.. you know some kind of speciall occasion... especially if your in a hurry .... color is just something that you shouldnt rush ..

and im not trying to come of rude or anything at all just want to show the other side thats all ... but i think the one thing that will solve alot of these things are just really tell us what you want and if you really do like how it turned out ... i always try and ask what was something you liked about it last time and what you didnt ... anyway if you have any question please come in and ask .. call 208-523-3333 or email me at muse86123@yahoo.com

i was going on a trip and i needed my hair done fast! so i called up a few salons in town and this was the only one that could get me in. i now know why. i sat there and while doing the consultation i was very uneasy about the whole process. i love my hair and its hard to trust a stylist. well my color was horrible, i could have done a better job at home. i couldn't even tell i got my hair done. when it took 5-6 hours to do. also while i was talking to the stylist i found out that they weren't doing color for very long just cutting hairat a cheap salon like great clips or a place of that sort. i talked to my friend after and she told me she knows the person and that they got fired from great clips. when I'm paying 95 dollars for a color I'm expecting a GREAT color. that's definitely not what i got. they have bad professionalism, i heard things i didn't want to hear or want to know. also they serve alcoholic beverage's and I'm a alcoholic in recovery and i saw employees drinking while working. i wouldn't go back there if my life depended on it!!!!

I found my solution!
I moved to Idaho Falls a few months ago. My skin was flaking and my feet were dry. It's always hard to find a good spa to go to.
I was lost.
My coworker suggested The Essence of You. Good choice! The best pedicure since I moves from LA. Great product's, great costumer service. They just got new client.

This place has the worst estheticians ever! They don't even know how to do a brazilian! I got the worst bikini wax of my life, and I've had plenty. I've never had bruising a peeling rash, like after going there! They let hair dressers wax eyebrows and they don't even know what RUBIS tweezers are! It is a serious disgrace to the profession! I will never ever go back! Where are the good salons in Idaho Falls?!!!

I love this place. Having moved from a large city where upscale salons and day spas abound I was initially pretty disappointed in the local places here, but then I found this place. The services, surrounds and professional attitude of the employees can compete with any place I have ever been anywhere.

Not only that but the robe they gave me was extremely itchy and uncomfortable, the receptionists seemed to ignore me when I checked in and out and acted like they were more interested in making a sale than actually helping me. To top it all off when I was checking out I could hear yelling coming from the owner downstairs and when she came upstairs she degraded her staff members right in front of me! I was completely mortified and felt so bad for the poor girls. People like that owner have no good reason to be in buisness and its no wonder the service wasnt great, all of her workers seem to be terrified of her. Its truly pathetic.
I will never go back to the essence of you again as long as it is owned by her, I will not support someone who yells at her employees.

I agree with sadforemployees giving essence of you one star is an overstatement and completely undeserved.

I received a gift certificate from the Essence for my birthday. I had never been to a spa before so I wasn??t sure what to expect. Turns out it was the best present I ever received! My wonderful husband treated me to a massage and a manicure and pedicure. It was such a thoughtful gift. I stay at home to take care of my 4 kids so it was so nice to be taken care of for a change! I don??t remember what the name of the pedicure was but it smelled so good! My feet felt great for days. And the place is really beautiful. If you??re going to do something for yourself, go to the Essence. It honestly is a wonderful experience.
