.

I traded quite a few paperback books a couple months ago. I got $30 worth of store credit (they do not buy outright). I could use half of whatever credit balance I had for purchases. That worked out fine for me. The young girl who helped me was quite nice. I purchased some books I needed (which are overpriced for used books and they are permanently marked with stamps or writing on the first inside page). I was explained that they allow 25% of the cover price when you bring in books to trade- they then sell them for 50% of cover price.

However, the next time I came in, it was a different story! I brought in 3 books, a was a collector's item, and 2 were books that were only 2 years old (which I was previously told they prefer titles from the last 3 years). Total cover price was over $ 85 for the three. This time, I had to ASK how much I was getting - a whopping $1.50 ! I was shocked, to say the least! The girl who was ringing me out has absolutely no skills at dealing with a difficult question and kept saying "I don't make the rules- it's the owner). Funny, but the rules seem to change between visits....I told her that there's no need to be nasty, as I wasn't being argumentative. I took back my books- I would rather send them to goodwill than to have Book Rack make a huge profit by ripping me off. That girl's attitude lost them a customer. I will never return and I will not have anything good to say about that store.
