I don't know many other places in the Chicago suburbs where raw oyesters are a menu staple. The food here is great (though if you're looking for healthfood, this might not be your first choice) with lots of seafood, gumbos and lots of choices for the land lovers too. The atmosphere is laid back and the service is great! Perhaps my favorite feature of Poor Phils is the fantastic beer selection and bartenders and waiters who know their stuff about all of it. They are more than willing to bring you samples if you are uber picky about your beers. Cheers to that!

Excellent choice for a great meal

Poor Phils has a nice casual atmosphere. The food is always fresh and delicious. Try the beer-battered shrimp with great fresh-cut fries and a sumptuous cole slaw. Nice spot to catch the latest sports events too.

I've brought friends and family to Phil's and the food is great and so is the service! No need for reservations makes it easy to do a last minute meal! Also, I just found out that Phil's is open for Sunday Breakfast. Look forward that experience.

Poor Phil's is one of the only bars in the dry town of Oak Park. The bar is quite small and can be smoky but the outdoor patio is nice. Beware of the patio seating, Oak Park regulations require food purchase for outdoor alcohol consumption. The beer selection is impressive and the bartenders and servers are always friendly. The real treat here, however, is the seafood. The oysters and lobster salad are can't miss. The crab cakes are also a good option. Specials are offered daily and change with the seasons.
