I am not sure where some of the reviewers were eating but this is NOT like my Italian grandma used to make at all. The food was lukewarm when it arrived and it was subpar at best...disgusting really . I felt sick afterwards not just because of the food but because of the money we could have spent elsewhere for a QUALITY Italian meal.

Pros: none

Cons: food was a disgrace, ambiance of which there was none

The best lasagna, sauce is fabulous. After owning and operating restaurants including two Italian restaurants, it was absolutely terriffic, the best Italian I've ever eaten. I fly in from Florida to have dinner here twice a year and fly out directly after --- its that good.

Pros: Pork Chops

Really bad experience. Smoke -filled (yes, even though it's illegal in Chicago to smoke in restaurants now). Cheap diner-type atmosphere and high prices. Forget this place.

i came in with a friend on a thursday night. The place was small and very dark. We stood for awhile without being helped or even acknowledged. When we finally were, we were sat down by an extremely rude lady (who I believe was the owner), who rushed us the second we sat down and sighed when we asked for a minute. After we decided what to order, she came back, asked us again more rudely than the first time what we were having, and left without once having smiled or showed her appreciation for our business. I used to work as a waitress, and I understand how stressful it can be, and how some customers can be absolutely a nightmare to serve...but this was awful. The worst part was there was only a couple other small parties seated. I ordered Veal Scallopini and my friend ordered a plate of ravioli with a sausage. The food was good, I couldn't complain about that one bit. My main problem, and the only reason I wouldn't think of returning would be the customer service. Talk about being completely uncomfortable and unliked. The lady came out yelling at her employee (who was a young girl) for a mistake that turned out to be hers. The bartender could be heard from the other end of the restauraunt shouting profanities and racial slurs to the television. And when we left, we heard no thankyou or goodbye, nothing
believe me, i normally wouldn't think of spending the time writing something like this out, but it was that bad. I left with a full stomach, but it was not close to being worth the way we were treated inside the restauraunt. If you want terribly poor, rude service...go to Gennaro's

I was looking forward to going to try this restaurant in the Italian neighborhood on Taylor Street as we have been to several others and really enjoyed them. I ordered the veal parmesan and my wife had the eggplant parmesan. We also had the soup of the day and the house salad. Each of the dishes was very poorly prepared. My veal was soggy and the accompaning pasta was very bland. For $20, I expected much higer quality service. The restaurant was very crowded the night we went but I do not understandy why. The best part of the meal was the cannoli which was very good. Perhaps the chef was not at his/her best that night but we will not be returning

The waitresses are rude. The wait is long. The tables are formica and the silverware is cheap. Hmmm. This is my favorite Italian eatery. The red sauce has been bubbling for days. The pork chops & peppers platter is easy enough for two truck drivers. The chicken vesuvio brings tears to your eyes. This is the real deal.
