I visited Dusties on a Thursday early evening. I was forced to wait in line behind 1 other person while the cashier was shuffling wads of cash between 3 registers. It literally took over 5 minutes for her to accomplish this, all the while ignoring me as I stood there. There were 2 other employees standing there and everyone made an effort to avoid eye contact.

After realizing that this was either monetary theater or complete ignorance on their behalf, I left to the sounds of their protest. Either way this place would be one of my first targets if I was a stick-up artist. Shoot, based on my experience thy could only describe the back of your head as you walked out, wads of cash in hand.

I just left and had the worst dining experience ever at Dusties in Matteson, not only was the staff unprofessional, ghetto and very hood, but the food was aweful and bland.

Ok, it was 91 degrees today, I had my 64 oz mug of coke zero with me at the time I went into Dusties to sit and dine in, I asked the young lady at the front counter if I could see what was on the buffet before deciding. The polite young lady said, "sure".

I walked in and around the buffet to see if there was anything that I would like to eat (still with my 64 0z mug of coke zero in hand), and I saw several items that i would have liked to have for dinner (or so I thought).

I walked back to the front desk and a women who was walking behind me immediately approached the counter and shouted something to another male employee who was standing there talking with they yong lady working the counter, with his pants saggin beyond his knees (thugged out).

He (the young hood, thug) then turned to me and said, "Umm, did you just fill yo mug wit pop?" I then turned to him and politely told him, "No" and further went on to explain that I had already had pop in the container before entering into the establishment.

All the while the lady who had been appearantly following me around still standing ther and not saying a word but had a very strange look on her face (as you could tell that she was also very hood, unprofessional and just messy).

I further went on to explain to the young man that I asked the young lady who was working the front desk, if it was ok for me to check out the buffet before deciding and she gave me permission to do so and asked him if that was alright with him.

He then said very hoodly, "We'll, I was jus askin, Uhh, I was jus"
AsI gave him the look of death, the young lady behind the counter then asked, "will you be dining in sir, that will be $16.75?"

I then replied, "Well, I dont know, I was thinking about it but..." waiting for the young man to give me his permission as if I needed it and as he was still standing there muttering inaudibles (the other woman who had been following me sensed that I wasnt having it and had moved on by at this point).

After being treated like that before even deciding whether or not I was going to dine in or not, I have made up my mind that -That will be the last dining experience ever with Dustie ANYWHERE.

I could take my $16.75 and go to the Golden Corral where they charge a lot less and the food "aint" bland and you are treated courteous and with respect and I am 47 yrs old and the young man had to be all of 21 or 22. WHAT EVER HAPPEND TO RESPECT FOR ELDERS?

There is another way he (or they) could have went about asking me that without insinuating or making a false accusation. Why was he just standing around anyway, wasnt there a table or something that needed washing, or some dishes needing ccleaning? Appearently, he needed something else to do but, confronting me like that wasnt it, because "I CAN GET HOOD TO. Rodger IT."

I dont want no free nothing from Dusties, no free dinner, no coupons , no NOTHING, they "aint" ever got to worry about getting another dollar from me and Im gonna let anyone else I know, not to patronize that establishment. Apparently, they dont need OUR money anyway.

DUSTIES IS NOT THE SAME AS WHEN IT FIRST OPENED, ITS LOST ITS SOUL, IN ITS COOKING AND STAFF

AND I WOULDNT GIVE EM ANY STARS BUT I HAVE TO IN ORDER FOR THIS TO BE PULISHED. SO KNOW, THEY GETS NO STARS FROM ME... 0 STARS VERY VERY UNSATISFACTORILY

My first (and last) experience with Dustie??s Buffet was February 12, 2010. My family convened there for my Grand-Aunt??s 90th birthday celebration. Since this was a Friday evening and I had come there straight from work; I arrived a little early. I explained to the hostess which party I was there for and asked if I could be seated and have a cocktail while I waited for my family to arrive. Also, not being a big fan of binge eating, I asked if I could pay for a to-go order and get it on my way out; wanting to say hello briefly and eat later after my long drive home (BIG MISTAKE!) After the supervisor informed me that I COULD NOT EAT take-out food in the back, I explained my requests again; I did not want to eat at this time, that I would purchase food on the way out; I just wanted to order a drink? What I got was a high-chair pushed up to the bar where she (the supervisor) ignored me for about 20 minutes as I listened to both the supervisor and hostess complain about how they needed a drink! Apparently, paying patrons worked their nerves.

My family finally arrived, so I left my detention area and sat on the benches as they paid and waited to be seated. I kid you not, the supervisor shouted at me across the room, ??You ready?? After looking around and realizing she was talking to me (after all she have ignored me this long), I replied, ??Ready for what?? ??Weren??t you sitting here waiting for a drink?? she asked. Looking at my watch, I confirmed that was well over 40 minutes ago. I replied, ??No, thank you,? and proceeded to tell my family why I would leave after they were seated, refusing to eat or drink there. I only gave 1 star because 0 was not an option and prefer to patronize places where staff has a much higher level of professionalism and courtesy.

We tried Dusties on a busy Sunday, hoping that since iit is buffet style food a crowd would keep the kitchen hopping filling up the line with fresh, hot choices.

It didn't. If you're looking for quality, fresh, well-seasoned Southern comfort/soul food, head further north into the city and get some freshly made elsewhere. Much of this food had the same taste, as though everything was fried in the same grease...that wasn't changed often enough.

Everything we tried was either gummy and clumped together; dried out and overcooked or oily/greasy. Not recommended, especially not at the prices charged.

The restaurant is very new and good floor plan. The buffet is easily excessible from any place you sit.

PROS: The food is great with a very good selection. Sundays are especially good for after church brunch and Saturday mornings for breakfast. You can also choose the carry out option.

CONS: A bit overpriced for a buffet. The area designated VIP or RESERVED seems like a waste of space and is too close to the bathroom and kitchen!

The service was bad for me, the women act like you owe them something for going in there. The food is great though. It's very expensive considering the quantity of food offered. I would visit again but not for dinner, lunch would be cheaper and fresh.

serves tasteless food. Most of the fried food were served cold. Ruined dinner on one of the cold winter evening. Food is extremely expensive compared to the quality. Will not visit again.

It was Okay. I have had better. They don't have anything on MacArthur's. The service was fine, but I felt the other patrons were way too loud.
