Here is our story...

On an April Saturday afternoon in Chicago, my husband and I needed to board our dog at the PetSmart PetsHotel for the night as we were attending a wedding in Indiana. On our way to drop the dog off, we needed to stop at a Formally Modern Tuxedo store to pick up a pocket square for the wedding and grab a quick lunch before heading out of town. We parked in the parking lot of the Formally Modern Tuxedo store (2112 N. Clybourn) to pick out the square and grab lunch. We left our dog, Elwood, in the car while we ran our quick errands (it was a cloudy, 60 degree day). There are signs posted in the parking lot that state the lot is only for store patrons but since we were there to shop at Formally Modern Tuxedo, we definitely thought we fell into that category! After we quickly ate lunch, approximately 15 minutes later, we walked back towards our car and my husband said, 'Where is our car?' I look around and see that our car is GONE. We started panicking as our 'son' was sitting in the front seat! As a 'mom', I automatically start thinking the worst. Things like, 'Oh my god, someone stole our dog to use him as bate in a dog fighting ring,' starting going through my head as I tried feverishly to dial 911. I was so scared that it took me 3 tries to get to the keypad on my iPhone to even dial 911! My husband and I were both on the phone with 911, freaking out, when a couple walked up to us and said that they saw our car get towed with our dog sitting up in the front seat! We then see that there are two men sitting in a car in the parking lot just watching for people to tow. Can we say, scam artists? Crooks? Further, as we were patrons of Formally Modern Tuxedo, it seems like our car shouldn't have even be towed in the first place. Let alone with our DOG sitting in the front seat. At this point, all we cared about was Elwood. The car could have been stolen for all we cared. But our pooch was dog napped! We looked at the signs that were posted and there was a phone number to call for the towing company. We immediately called and they said, 'Yes,' they had our car. Mind you, the car still had to be in route with our dog inside because it was a nearly 30 minute drive to get out to the tow yard. We jumped in the next cab we saw and headed west. They towed our dog all the way from Lincoln Park to Cicero and Armitage. It took us nearly 30 minutes to get there due to Saturday traffic. By the time we arrived, our dog was stranded in a gated stone lot with his face pressed against the window, scared, wondering what happened and where we were. He's been traumatized ever since. After the whole ordeal was over, we were out nearly $200 in tow fees and the cab ride and were concerned about making it to the wedding on time as we still needed to drive the dog back to the Lincoln Park PetSmart! At that point we felt terrible for leaving him at the PetsHotel but what could we do? We had to rush to the wedding.

Lincoln Towing is run by unethical crooks who abuse the system and swore at us when we confronted them for taking our dog. DO NOT USE THEM. I will never shop at that Lincoln Park plaza again until they cancel their contract with Lincoln Towing and I used to be a very good customer of the businesses there.
