We had such a nice time. We were in there for over four hours and I wasn't aware the time moving so quickly. The girl was very knowledgeable of every single thing we observed!

I always thought of the Field Museum as boring, but now (maybe because I'm older), I think of it as kind of interesting. They are most famous for "Sue" the biggest T-Rex that was found only a few years ago. This museum is for someone interested in areas of Biolog7 such as fossils, dinasaurs, mummies, the extinction of animals. It can be quite fun. $12 for adults and $7 for children. Free wheel chairs. parking. Give this place a try!

A world class museum with fantastic exhibits, this museum has something for everyone in the family. With exhibits containing beautiful jewels, to Sue, the T-Rex, to ancient mummies and pyramids, nobody will get bored here. There is quite a lot of ground to cover, so expect a lot of walking.

This must be one of the most fasinating museum I've ever gone to. The first object that strikes me was the biggest complete skeleton of a dinosaur name Sue. And the archiologist who discovered her was signing her book about this discovery. Many exhibition was very visual appealing. They make you feel like you are actually in the period of that exhibition, for example, the accient Egypt. I spend one afternoon here but haven't have a chance to see everything here, I will come back here soon to see the rest.

The Field Museum: A Geek's Paradise! I am a geek and I can tell you straight off, there is no better way to spend a day in Chicago than at the Field Museum. There is something for everyone here: dinosaur fossils, ancient civilizations, an extensive [and regretfully macabre] collection of stuffed animal specimens - including the lions that inspired the film 'The Ghost and the Darkness'. You could spend hours getting lost among the artifacts and fossils; the Egyptian exhibit alone, which includes a replica Egyptian tomb AND ship, could be a full day adventure. Each time you go, there is something new to browse, and always some traveling exhibit - ranging from artifacts from the famous King Tut to items from China's Forbidden City. The Field Mueseum is a gateway to another time, another place... high recommended!

PROS: Amazing artifacts, amazing fossils, great area, lots of fun!
CONS: HUGE - it takes several trips to see everything!

If you're visiting Chicago, this Museum is a must see. It has all different exhibits that you can spend the entire day. Their most famous exhibit is their T-Rex named Sue. Other exhibits include Africa, Birds and prehistoric animals and mammals. They also have temporary exhibits such as dinosaurs and previously...mummys. There is underground parking and entrance fee is minimal. This is a great place for children to learn History at a grand setting.

The Field Museum is a wonderful museum with a variety of exhibits, but is best known for Sue, the resident T-Rex. The museum can be extremely busy on the weekends, which may create lines for some of the more popular exhibits. Additionally, the size of the museum can be a little overwhelming. Its definately a place that the kids will enjoy, but be sure to plan on spending the majority of a day here.

This place is definately a MUST to visit if you are planning a trip to Chicago. The Field Museum has something for everyone. The kids loved seeing Sue, the giant T-Rex on display. They also loved the dinosaur room where they had several other dinosaurs on display including a pteradactyl. My wife and I loved the Egyptian exhibit which allows you to do deep into a replica of a pyramid. They have a room filled with the prettiest gems you have ever seen. Admission is a bit pricey but where else can you find a place to visit where everyone will enjoy it?

This place would be great for families with small kids or anthropology buffs, but if you're not into seeing a bunch of dead animals that you could see for free alive at the Lincoln Park Zoo and some uninteresting cultural artifacts, I'd avoid this museum. Its basically a less interesting version of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. I'd spend my money on the other museums in Chicago like the Musuem of Science and Industry and Art Institute.

The field museum is one of the best history museums ever. The dinosaur exhibit is excellent and you cant beat the price you pay for the things you can learn in one hour if not the whole day. I would highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting or a permanent Chicago resident!

PROS: Everything!
CONS: Nothing!

Chicago's Field Museum isn't one of the most visited for no reason - it's amazing! They have so many exhibits that you really need to go several times to take it all in. One of the best parts is the dinosaurs - real dinosaur bones and replications with great descriptions. Also check out the gems. They have a huge display of rare gemstones which will leave any woman drooling. There is also a great section on the evolution of man.
Beware that there will be large groups of school children during the week. They have a few places to eat but it can be kind of expensive - I recomment bringing your own lunch.

We love this museum for its fantastic Egyptian display, but there is always something new and interesting on display here. It's not too geared towards kids, but they do have some things for them. The only downside is the ridiculous cost of admission and extras (yes, some exhibits are not even part of the general admission cost!) and the restaurants aren't exactly cheap as well. It's a good place to visit 1-2 a year.

Field Museum of Natural Industry is an educational museum of nature. They have several exhibits including dinosaurs, mammals, Africa, Asia and mummies to name a few. It is located on the Lake Shore right next to Lake Michigan. It is a excellent place to bring your children to learn natural history with several displays. The Field Museum is so big, you can practically spend the entire day just going through all the exhibits. They also have new exhibits each year as last year they had the Jackie Kennedy exhibit. A must place to visit in Chicago!

This is a great museum to visit. There's lots to see here, mummys, dinosaurs, and much more. My favorite part of the museum is the precious stones chamber -- there's so many neat stones here! This is a great place to check out and there's lots to see and learn here. Also, they offer good discounts to students and children, so you can get a bargain out of the experience too!

Another amazing Chicago museum. It's right on the lake on the "museum campus" (located within walking distance from the Planetarium and the Aquarium). What I always remember about this museum are the dinosaur displays (a giant T-rex recontructed in the main room named Sue) and the Egyptian exhibits. One time when I was little the museum was closing and they locked me and my dad in the mummy room accidentally! We found a security guard luckily... the mummies are very cool but I certainly didn't want to spend the night with them.

Anyway, there's a lot more to this huge natural history musuem. Lots of great special exhibits, like one just opening on Pompeii in Oct. 2005. Like all the Chicago museums, there's one free day a week.

The museum is a little pricey but I think it is a great place to spend an afternoon. Seeing the dinosaur bones and other exhibits were very interesting to learn about.
It is a great place to take a school group of kids. Very educational for people of all ages.

This museum provides a great and entertaining forum to learn about history. There are dinosaur bones and other artifacts from history. Additionally it is right by the lake and Soldier Field, Home of the Chicago Bears.

If you think about getting to this museum only to have an educational day with your kids- you'll be surprised. The museum has many features interesting to every age, and there are many interesting things I discovered every time I went to this museum. And with so many special exhibitions year round, there is always something new to see here.

PROS: very large, lots of great things to discover, for any age
CONS: too large, you'll need to come back at least one more time...

The best time to go to this museum is during a weekday. Take your kids out of school so they know it's a special day and show them the fun sights at this museum. They have "Sue" the dinosaur exhibit as well as other exhibits on different cultures including Pacific Islander, African and Japanese. I thoroughly enjoyed the PI exhibit and spent at least an hour there just looking at the plant life, clothes and elaborately set up exhibits that gives you a great view into how it all comes together. That's why it's great for kids - they can visually see how thing are or were and can then look for themselves (if the exhibits pique their interests) at the placards or descriptions that give them more information.

PROS: fun for kids and adults alike
CONS: expensive parking

If you want to take your kids somewhere and have it be educational this is the place for you. There are plenty of artifacts and exhibits to go around here. The price is not bad at all, but on one certain day, I think Tuesdays, admission is free. They would prefer a small donation on that day though.
