NOT HAPPY...at all.
I took my niece for her prom dress here. The women showed us the prom room. Not the right looks in that room , the dresses were a little to hooker looking.
My niece wanted a cream gown so we were shown the discounted bridal dress room. We found her a pretty silk gown for $200. I thought it looked faded across the front ...OH NO said the saleswomen his dress is not faded. There lighting is very poor in the dressing rooms, so maybe it was me seeing things. My niece loved it so we bought it.

When we took the dress to get it altered and it was in sunlight we saw the dress was faded and not only across the front where I first thought I saw it faded, but between all the folds of the gown..
I think it was probably in a window and got faded from the sun.
Also the alteration women we went to,noticed it was previously altered. So was this a used dress too ????

No money back as it was a final sale. I would not go back there as they had to know it was so faded.
But if you go there and want to buy a sample gown, take the gown out to the front by the windows, to make sure of its condition .

RUN don't walk away from this place. The dresses are all crammed into small hanging spaces along the walls. It looks as though they have kept every bad 80's prom, wedding, and homecoming dress and are trying to sell them as new and trying to sell them at the highest prices I have seen.

The worst part about this place has to be the people working there. They are rude, inconsiderate, and not helpful at all. I actually heard them yelling at a bride when she got her wedding dress and it was the wrong one. I was in the dressing rooms and could not believe what I heard. They blamed the bride for the wrong order. Everyone knows that the consultants write the reports, not the bride!

Again, RUNNNN do not walk away from this place. Eva??s has a horrible location, horrible dresses, and most of all a horrible sales staff which is the most important thing!

I remember a fews years back my mother and I stopped into Eva's Bridal on Harlem Ave. She needed a dress for a wedding that we were invited to, so we decided to do some browsing. After being there for about 35 minutes or so, we started trying on dresses in the fitting room. Suddenly my mother and I heard a women telling off another employee near the back end of the store. The statements were so brudal and belittling. I mean, this women was really rotten and nasty. I felt so bad for the employer that I wanted to cry for the poor girl. The mean women goes by the name of Dorothy who unfortunately turns out to be the boss or manager of the bridal shop. Dorothy has no respect for her employee's and 100% zero respect for the customers witnessing her cold hearted behavior. This was very inappropriate. Dorothy treated her employer like she was a dog versus a human being. Minutes later Dorothy acted to be such a nice lady infront of the customers, including my mother and I. From my perspective, Dorothy's behavior was absolutely unprofessional and very unacceptable. I was very disturbed by Dorothy's actions. We will never go back to Eva's Bridal and that goes for our friends and family as well.

I'm not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews of Eva's Bridal on here, but I hope that I don't have to find out! I went here this past weekend with my mom. I was having trouble finding the wedding dress that I wanted (at least in my price range anyway), after frequently some of the better stores in Chicago, decided to try coming out to a few of the stores in this area. We ran late from our previous appointment, but they let us move our appointment back, which was nice of them. The store is not fancy but I wouldn't say that the conditions were anything to notably complain about either. My consultant, Dalia, was amazing! She was so nice, she was really a treat to work with. I tried on a few dresses, some of which were eh, and a couple that I really liked, until I found "the one". She did not have any problem telling us the designer of each dress, so I'm not sure what the "no info" reviews were about (I know they wouldn't tell us designers at Kasia's, but they were also nice there too). But I was still torn between that one, and another one I had seen at Macys, and we were going back to Macys the next day.

On the drive home, I kept thinking about the dress. I called Dalia and said would it be okay if we come back in on Monday to see it again? She said that she had been thinking about me (so cute, lol!), and that normally she is not working that day, but she would come in just for me! I have to say that I was impressed. After trying on the other dress at Macys on Sunday (and having a less than great experience w/ some accessory trunk show people practically attacking me!!), we went back to Evas on Monday. As soon as Dalia started lacing up the dress on me, I knew it was the one! I was so excited!

My mom and I decided that we would order the dress from there. Once we said that, she said we could take pictures (to send to my friends, dad, etc), she helped set me up in all these different positions and angles, it was really cute. They say it takes up to 6 months to come in, which is fine b/c my wedding is in 1 year. Alterations were a MAX of $300 (whereas I was quoted $500-750 at Macys - pretty much just for a bustle, nothing else!) So far, my experience w/ Eva's has been good. I just hope that I don't end up having to edit this review later, after hearing so many bad things on here!

Cons: kind of far from me

I did not purchase my gown there but a lot of my friends did...and were very happy. Eva's of Chicago is great if they can screen their brides and only service the ones that can read or have half an ounce of common sense. Everything in their policies that some of you resent is all posted and explained clearly to every bride...and, really, they are not the only bridal salon that won't give you the designer's name or a free zipper bag. Davids charges $15.00 for each bag. Other stores charge up to $30.00. Trust me, I've been there. I realize it is the consumer's market today, but enough is enough. Just because you're buying your gown at a bridal salon, they really don't have to give shares in the business. How else do you expect a store, any store, to stay in business, if they give you a great price, free pressing, free garment bags, free etc., etc., etc.,.E N O U G H! Look at their rating with the Better Business. They have the best rating in the entire state. They are obviously making a lot of brides very, very happy.

As I understand there are rules to be followed as in any other store, I do feel that there is a form of service that should be rendered if you're going to have a sh*t ton of rules to follow. The rules are not any different than any other store I've gone to - no pictures, no info, no deposit, no dress. Got it. I work in an electronics shop and understand why. If you can't make up your mind and you don't have favorites, then this is not the store for you, but if you do, just buy it. Ok, so I went in here and I found a dress that was a possibility and wanted my mom to come in and see it, holy cow....all hell broke loose! I was asked to leave the fitting room because it wasn't a waiting room, ok whatever. My mom lives in Morton Grove and was running late. As I was about to put money down even though my mom wasn't there and didn't see this dress I was about to buy, the sales girl tell me that the dress I'm about to buy is mistagged and that it's actually $2000 more than the tagged price! It was tagged at $900. I thought I miheard her! After the hell I went through and giving the store the complete benefit of the doubt, this is how they play me! I left without a dress. I was lucky though, a bride that was leaving the store disgusted as well gave me the number to another boutique in Chicago on Irving Park she had an appointment with, that was about 15 minutes away. I called and asked if they had an appointment and they did, so I called my mom to take a detour and meet me at that store instead. All in all, after making an appointment with Eva's, putting up with the cr*p they put me through, wasting an hour and a half of my time, and walking out with a bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience, I'm glad I didn't leave a penny of my money behind. Don't waste your time at this dump. There are other stores in Chicago that work for the money they make, Eva's won't lift a finger to help but will try to charge you as if they did. Terrible.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: How this store is still in business baffles me

.

I went there shopping with my friend who is getting married. The first thing that I found suspicious is that she had called requesting a certain designer, and they said they carried it. When she called to confirm the appointment and to give specific style numbers, they told her that they only carried certain items, not the entire line.

We got there early, and no one was there. The shop pretty much looked closed. When we finally were able to go in, they lazily told us to look around. There was no organization to the store except by color, and not by designer. The woman helping us told us that the style number ended with a certain 2 digit code, and that is how we would look for the dresses of that designer.

Once we got into the dressing room, we were appalled. The mirrors were covered in dust and looked like no one had cleaned the dressing room in months. Considering all of us (the bride, myself and another bridesmaid) have retail experience, the quality of the dressing room was well below our standards. The woman helping us only came to check on us once, after being in the dressing room for at least 20 minutes! It was a weekday morning, and there were no other customers in the shop.

We finally left after trying on different dresses. Do not ever go to this place!

Cons: Bad Customer Service, Dirty Store

.

I'll start by saying that most of my wedding planning has been through email correspondence, either to my parents or my bridesmaids, all of whom are out of state. So far email has worked fine, but I didn't anticipate the problems I would encounter with regards to dress shopping. I've managed to overcome most of these issues ... until I visited Eva's. My problem began (unbeknownst to me) when I walked through the door, where I was stripped of any sort of human decency and clothed in the cloaks of treachery instead. This business is so blinded by a fear of losing business to other stores or the internet, that they can't even see that they lose more business by the policies they've put in place to prevent such crimes. Rule #1 - NO PICTURE TAKING. Ok, that's fine. I've been told that in other stores and although it's a little inconvenient to go back to each store to re-try on the dresses, as long as I can find it on the designer's website to show my out-of-town bridesmaids, I'm fine. But wait - there's Rule #2 - YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THE DRESS UNTIL A PURCHASE IS MADE. What? I'm not entirely sure, but I think ripping the designer's labels off of a dress and then trying to sell it as your own exclusive design is more of a crime than anything I could possibly do with that information. Rule #3 - YOU MUST PUT 70% DOWN TO ORDER A DRESS. So I practically have to buy the dress before they'll give me any information on it or let me take a picture. RIDICULOUS! And when I told this to the manager (in tears) her reply to me was, "We believe in the old tradition that a bride's dress is kept secret between her and her mother." Well I don't know when that tradition started, but I bet it was back in the day when a handshake used to seal the deal, not a signature on a dotted line contractually binding you to 70% of an item you know nothing about. So here's a little business analysis for you Eva's: 70% of $0 is $0, which is exactly what you're getting from me.

A note to Roma S: Ignorance really is bliss isn't it? Where I am from DEATH is a perfectly acceptable reason for a refund. Not that she was asking for her $1800 back (I would have!), she just didn't want to pay the $200 balance. I am not surprised that someone with so little regard for the finer details (spell check is such a hard feature to use) would stick up for this business. Birds of a feather ....

Pros: Delia, my consultant, was very nice - it's a shame she has to work in such a lowly place

Cons: No pictures, Labels ripped off dresses, Dirty store, Rude manager who cannot empathize with the stress of being a bride

.

Bottom line: The people at Eva's just aren't helpful and are terrible at troubleshooting to fix what I would think are common problems when it comes to ordering and fitting bridesmaids dresses. Four of us ordered bridesmaids dresses four months ago - plenty of time before the September wedding we are all attendants in. And all four of us got dresses that are way too small - mine didn't even come close to zipping. When I called the store to explain the situation and ask what I could do - swap out my dress for another size, let out the seams, order more fabric etc - the woman on the phone basically told me it was my tough luck and there was nothing they could do or would do. I realize the sale is final on these dresses and I wasn't expecting to get another dress, but all the woman on the phone said was the brand we all ordered fits very small, which would have been good to know about four months ago when we were ordering. They're just very rude and terrible problem solvers. I ended up spending $50 on another yard of fabric - the woman on the phone acted like it was a huge favor that she was even allowing me to do that. Meanwhile, this was two weeks ago and I still haven't gotten the fabric...or lost the 10 pounds I would need to in order to fit into the dress. Sadly, I've had a terrible experience. I really would not recommend Eva's and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for brides that have bridesmaids living outside of Chicago. It's just been a total headache for all of us.

This store has a HUGE lack of communication. I chose this location because the price was right and the young girl that answered the phone was a delight compared to other bridal shops I had spoken with. Unfortunately, her co-workers (Dorothy in particular) weren't so delightful to me or to my bridesmaids.
One of my girls went and the woman helping (if you want to call it helping) her was rude and this detered her from altering her dress at this location.
My other girl went and was hassled because she didn't have an appointment to try on her dress, the woman helping her was also rude to her and when she went to pay off her balance with a check she was told they do not accept checks for final payments (in the message left on my voicemail it was not mentioned that they needed an appointment nor did they mention cash or credit only for final payments). She wouldn't have even had a balance had they processed the full amount in the first place, lord only knows why they didn't tell us they were only processing 60 or 70% of the balance, had they told us we would have told them to process the full amount.
Plus, they also told me there was a discount when ordering 2 or more dresses...didn't see that. I was also told the pricing of the dresses would be $145 for each girl, in total I they paid just under $176. Not sure when where the extra $20/$25 came from after the taxes but I'm sure this store is making good money off this unknown charge.
Basically, if you want to have no grasp on what the hell is going on with your bridesmaids items I would go here for sure! Otherwise, look elsewhere for a bridal shop with more polite associates who are willing to provide you the best possible service as this place has turned into nothing but a headache for me.

Business Response:

Business Response All of our receipts clearly state our policies, indicating that "No Personal Checks are Accepted on Final Payments." You were given a copy of this receipt the day you purchased your dress. You were also told that the minimum deposit was 70% (also written on your receipt), but that you could pay the full amount if you wished to do so. Finally, you were aware of the price of the dress and any additional costs when you paid for it. Our consultants go over the entire receipt with you, explaining all charges, going over your measurements and choosing your size, and asking you to read all of our policies before agreeing to purchase a dress. All of your complaints now can be answered in our Policies section, should you have taken the time to read it months ago. If you had any additional questions, you should have asked your consultant that day. If you don't ask us any questions, we are going to assume that you understand and agree with us. But we cannot be held responsible if you did not read what you signed first.

If I had written this review 2 months ago, I would have given rave reviews to Eva's Bridal, however, my issues with the alterations department have caused me to change my mind. One of my bridesmaids when in for her final fitting only to find that her dress was not ready. The alterations department decided that I (the bride) would pick up her dress for her when I came to pick up my dress (a week later). When I came in to pick up my wedding gown (2 days prior to the wedding), the bridesmaid dress was not ready and I was told I could wait around for 30 - 45 min and the dress would be ready. If you've ever been a bride, you know that you DO NOT have 30 - 45 min to spare 2 days prior to your wedding, and if you did, you'd probably be getting a mani/pedicure with that time. After voicing my concerns, the owner decided that nothing needed to be done to compensate for this inadequate service. He said that everything worked out ok, we got the dress and she had it in time for the wedding. Yes, but at whose cost, mine. I certainly hope this man (the owner) does not have a daughter, and if he does, I hope she has a much better experience with her wedding than I did. I sure wish I would have seen all of these reviews prior to purchasing my wedding and bridesmaid dresses there. I am offended by their lack of consideration and would not recommend Eva's to anyone!!!

Cons: Where do I begin? Alterations and The Owner are my biggest complaints!!!

I went with my fiance to shop for a dress. We put money down, and continued to make payments on it. The dress was almost paid for, except that my fiance was in a car accident, where he lost his life. Months later, I contacted the store and I told them what had happenedd. They told me that they were sorry, but that there was nothing they could do to pay the $200 balance of the $2000.00. They also told me that I could re-sell it. I know that there are mean people in this world, but I did not know there were also poeple without a heart.
How sad that people can take advantage of such a tragedy for their personal gain.. A. Del Real

Business Response:

Business Response As we explained, we are truly sorry for your loss, and we understand the delicate situation you were in. However, you have to realize that there were people who did take the time to make a dress for you. These people were paid in advance for their work long before we received the dress in our salon. Once the dress is made, the designer has no need for it. They will not refund us the money for a dress that they already made, which means that we can't refund you your money. We understand that the situation was out of control, but you cannot expect your salon or your design to have to pay for your dress. As we have said, if you were so concerned about retrieving your money, you could have sold it to a consignment shop or another selling avenue, but it is extremely cold and unfair to tell us we have no heart because we nor the designer offered to pay off your dress.

Came here with my mother to look for a mother of the bride dress. The attendant, Judi, was the best thing about our experience there. She was kind and patient with my squirrelly and very demanding mother. I also picked out my bridesmaid dress there, and Judi was a lot of help.

All the bad experiences came later. Judi told me that their payment plan requires the maids to pay a deposit of $110 and the balance later. She then told me the price of my dress, with 6 girls ordering it, would be $138 per girl. Well, turns out that's not the actual price. It's more like $160something. They charge an extra $9 to ship the dress TO THE STORE - but don't tell you about it. My maid of honor called up to order (she's out of town), and the lady gave her a hard time over her measurements as well as the charges; she called me up crying. As if I don't have enough stress planning a wedding. They charged her full price, incl. the "shipping," without telling her. She's in college, and obviously missed the extra $50. When I called the salon to try to smooth things over, the manager, Dorothy, was fairly calm and nice, but would not redact the hidden fee. I had to threaten to call the "better *enterprise* bureau" and post nasty reviews on citysearch. Well, then shipping price came off and she wasn't so nice anymore. They also recommended that she order a dress two sizes too large for her. Thankfully the dresses arrived without any more problems.

Anyway, lesson learned: make sure that you get all the details about pricing from this place before you order (or just go somewhere else that has good customer service), and steer clear of Dorothy.

I went in today to look for my bridal and bridesmaid dresses with my MOH. We didn't have an appointment, but they took us anyways. I do recommend making one though, cause they were pretty busy. I didn't have a real clear idea yet of what I was looking for, so my sales consultant brought me lots of different styles to try on. The dress I ended up getting was one of the first ones she brought in, but I decided to try on a few more just for the heck of it. My consultant was very patient, and didn't seem to mind all of the dresses I was trying on. They have TONS of bridesmaid dresses, so we were only able to narrow it down to a few. I still have to return with the rest of my bridesmaids, but we will definitely be going back. The staff was very accommodating, despite the fact that we didn't make an appointment first.

We went to eva's today as our first experience with trying on bm dresses for our best friends wedding. Not only were we completely satisfied (because we knew what we wanted when we walked in), but the bride, who was also prepared, knew what she wanted.

We had a great day trying on dresses in a low stress friendly environment. Olivia knew exactly what we wanted and how to treat us. She gave us the freedom to try things on, look at the swatch books, and get to know different designers and styles.

We had expected to spend an hour or so here and ended up spending the majority of our day finding what we wanted. Not only did we find our dresses but the bride now has a good understanding of what her perfect dress is.

I just went for my final fitting on 8/1 and even though I had already expressed concerns about my dress from the beginning they said not to worry. I walked out of the shop without a dress for my son's wedding on 8/11. They can make every excuse in the book, but when a shop returns your money even though they have no money back policy, it tells you right there that they did to the dress was a nightmare!

To add insult to injury the Owner of the shop was there and didn't even afford me the courtesy to meet with me. My repeated pleas just fell on deaf ears!!

There are plenty of other shops on that same strip and as I drove away sobbing only wished I had looked there first!

Buyer beware!!

So part of this was my fault. I got caught shopping for a bridesmaid dress at the last minute and ended up paying close to $500 for a dress including the b.s. rush charges. The alterations were terrible. The local department store could have done a better job. The dress was too long and one of the straps kept falling down at the wedding. To add insult to injury, the crafty little seamstress charged me $20 for the shawl which suspiciously matched the fabric for my dress perfectly and was probably a remnant. What a horrible experience. Pls look into dresses that can be worn again and don't shop at these outmoded "bridal shops".

PROS: Long hours on weekdays
CONS: Expensive, unfriendly service, did I mention overpriced?

To add insult to injury, the crafty little seamstress charged me $20 for the shawl which suspiciously matched the fabric for my dress perfectly and was probably a remnant. What a horrible experience. Pls look into dresses that can be worn again and don't shop at these outmoded "bridal shops".

PROS: Long hours on weekdays
CONS: Expensive, unfriendly service, did I mention overpriced?

first eva's kept me waiting 20 min past my scheduled appointment. they asked me to describe what i was looking for and then proceeded to bring me everything but- i was looking for a simple sheath. they have a ton of ballgowns if that's what you are looking for, and their bridesmaid dress selection is great too. put personal attention, which i find important for this large of purchase, is lacking.

This place doesn't have a wide variety of dresses and its "fashions" aren't anything special. at least for my size They have no variety and they're rack was only several feet long. . I would recommend another place over this. Its bridal fashions, but not alot of plus sizes from what I managed to see, were not very appealing either.
