that entire block in clarendon hills has been replaced by a new brick building with a restaurant in the main floor. haven't been able to find any real info on their fate. if they had moved, rather than closing, perhaps they'd have found a way of getting word out?

I shopped here 2 years ago and this review has "festered" in my brain since then. I was a new knitter and had purchased yarn and a pattern here for my first sweater project. When I got stuck, I ventured back to the store with my project and instructions to ask a few questions. I do not know who "helped" me, but she was extremely rude and belittling. She criticized my knitting, beginner skills and even my needles! She was loud enough for everyone in the store to hear. I just wanted to hide and run from the store. She seemed angry that I asked for help. While I was being chastised, I noted two other store personnel observing the situation and giving me sympathetic smiles, but they did not come to my aid.
Needless to say, I cried the whole way home and my Husband and Mother had to convince me to continue my pursuit of knitting. Happily, I can report that now I've advanced to Intermediate skills, but rely heavily on printed materials and the Internet when I have questions! Once bitten twice shy.
Pros: Great selection
Cons: Crabby Staff (OK at least one crab in the group)

This store is a very busy small little store. It is run by mostly elderly people that are great to deal with as they are so friendly and love to chat. This store has great products and an endless supply of high end and normal yarns. Their prices are some of the best that I have come across for specialty yarn stores. They have demonstration products in store to inspire you to re-create what they have made. I was so inspired with the funky and hip new-age scarves that they made (which is unusual for a traditional yarn store to create) that I purchased so much yarn to make them for myself.

PROS: lots of speciality yarns
CONS: very small store that gets crowded very easily
