Ratings_icons WARNING!!! DO NOT GO TO TEDDIE'S

Ginger S.

I've been to Teddie's a few times and each time was a disaster.
10 years ago, thinking Teddies looked like a quality salon, I booked an appt. for a light ash blonde color. The colorist completely screwed up my hair color - gave me red when I specifically told them NO RED! I went back to have it fixed and if that wasn't bad enough, the colorist was too busy with other customers and was going to have the shampoo girl (a high school student without credentials!) apply the color to my hear. I walked out. Like a fool I returned 10 years later willing to give them another shot since I live nearby.
This guy, John, their "master colorist" completely ruined my hair. He not only screwed up the color (again RED when I said I want a soft neutral blonde - I even brought in a swatch!!) but my hair is so fried from the damage he had done, my mother in law thought I had gotten a bad perm! Now I am going to have to get it cut very short and redyed somewhere else. Not to mention that John had a very snotty attitude and actually took a personal call while he was in the middle of putting highlights in my hair. The result was fried, blotchy hair where the ends were darker, alot of dark red streaks, the blonde streaks were brassy and stripey. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! This guy did not even LISTEN to what I wanted, he just did what HE wanted to my hair. I felt I had been punked that's how bad it turned out. Like it was a malicious prank. Then my mother in law said that she knew how awful Teddies was and would have warned me not to go if I had asked her beforehand. PLEASE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HAIR...WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!

Dear Upset Client... replied on 08/30/08
I am so disappointed to hear about your salon experience first-hand on Insider Pages...I am surprised that your unhappiness did not point you in the direction of management. I wish I would have know of your situation. I am concerned for you and feel that you should call me so we can talk about what happenned. We have a high regard for your satisfaction. I hope you will contact me. Regards, Alan Kossof

A good hairdresser would, on realizing that she is not doing a good job, send you on your way and let you save your money or find someone better, not at Teddie Kossof, First of all, a process that should have taken about an hour and a half at the least took her about half hour, this b!#%^ sent me out of the salon looking the same way I did when I came in!! I had my hair covered when I left home and had to cover it back, for $70 frickin dollars which should have at least bought me an acceptable hairstyle. For anyone looking into going to this place, you can do much better, keep searching.

(sorry about the harsh language, I just got back from there so the anger is still fresh. I still can't believe these people looked at my hair and charged me money for what she did, frickin unbelievable)

Ratings_icons I cried on my way home

kate N.

Receptionist was friendly, but only to her co-workers, barely gave me the time of day. I was shampooed before seeing any stylist. I asked for 2-tone highlights. She started coloring before asking how light. No color consultation. After, I was told to go upstairs for my haircut. Um, ok...where upstairs? I had to ask the receptionist. I sit down with my WET hair and again a lady starts trimming my hair without asking what I want. As she was cutting, I told her that I'd like an edgy, textured bob w/bangs, no layers. I ended up with an alright haircut. But it wasn't at all what I asked for (it actually was exactly how the stylist had her hair). Tons of layers, terribly cut bangs that wouldn't stay down. The bill was OVER $200! I went to my now stylist 2-3 months later, she had to give me a "corrective cut" to even it out.

Ratings_icons Pedicure

I think that my 2 1/2 year old could have done a better job than the woman who did my pedicure did. I was really very disappointed, I had expected so much more than I got from them. The cost was outrageous (and I didn't even have to pay for it), their chairs were uncomfortable, they had very little in polish colors to choose from and the woman I had kept speaking to the other women in another language and laughing (very uncomfortable)not to mention that she left several times while she was still working with me! Save your money!

Ratings_icons I have never had a bad haircut here

Amber M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,122

I have been going to Teddi's for years along with my mom and many other family and friends. I have never had a bad haircut and I trusted them enought to do my hair as well as most of the bridal party for my wedding. The prices can be high depending on your stylist but the atmosphere and great results are worth it.

Ratings_icons Unimpressive

I had heard good things about Teddie Kossof, but I was very disappointed when I went for a manicure. For starters, a basic manicure took almost an hour. The girl did a horrible job cutting my cuticles (cut me), and spent the whole time talking with her colleague behind her. The polish was thick and didn't dry well (she used way too much), and the reception folks were equally uninviting.

Ratings_icons Highly Recommend for Exceptional "downtown" quality and full service.

ParkRidge1

I have a been a longtime fan of this salon-I found them when I was looking for a place that was open on Sunday as I am so busy during the week, as well as a place that does gel fills for nails. To my knowledge, they are the only salon that offers this service and my salon expert, Vanda is exceptional.
I find it extremely relaxing to spend time there, paricularly with the congenial atmosphere of all the techs, the clients and the stylists. From the moment one walks in, everyone is warm, friendly and attentive.
Additionally, they have an incredible array of beauty products of all types and are very knowledgable about them. This gives the one-stop shopping experience a real thumbs-up!
I always run into friends and have a great afternoon there.
Finally, Alan and Teddie's committment to community involvement is extraordinary. They are well known for contributing and supporting local charities, including Relay For Life and National Night Out Against Crime. If you want a downtown experience at very reasonable prices with expertise, try Teddie Kossof Salon. And there is ALWAYS parking, a true plus in my book.

Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, expertise, and product selection.

Cons: None

THIS SALON NEEDS ALOT OF HELP, FIRST OF ALL IT IS VERY OUT DATED, THE RECEPIONIST ARE TERRIBLE THEY LEAVE YOU ON HOLD FOREVER AND WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE SALON IT'S WORSE, THEY TAKE FOREVER TO HELP YOU. THE STYLIST I HAD WAS HORRIBLE SHE IS FAIRLY NEW AND NEEDS SOME TIPS ON CUTTING HAIR, MY HAIR WAS UNEVEN WHEN I LEFT I HAD TO GO SOMEWHRE ELSE TO FIX IT. NOT TO MENTION I WAS WAITING FOREVER FOR HER TO FINISH HER SMOKE BREAK! WAS VERY UNHAPPY, WON'T GO THERE AGAIN!
