At the prompting of a few different websites that the Western location was the biggest and best in the area I made an excursion, hoping for a pleasant day of thrifting, only to discover a depressing drooping little store that was dark and sparsely stocked. certainly not the biggest or best, but after much poking found one pretty skirt.if you have a few minutes to spare and want a quick breeze-through, feel free, but serious shoppers really should look elsewhere.

When it comes to smelly second-hand emporia in Chicago, the good ol' Salvation Army can't hold an old halogen lamp to Village Discount. Still, I had a good experience with this Pilsen franchise. I found an electric-blue button-up and two pairs of black jeans that fit perfectly. (The third was too tight, but at two bones, it was an acceptable write-off.) No dressing rooms - are you joking? - but as with any such place worth visiting, you'll put together an office-casual ensemble for under ten dollars. You NEVER get a "helpful" staff, natch, but at least these people weren't outwardly impolite.

PROS: Good selection, low prices
CONS: Old Navy, it ain't, but who needs that?
