A Joyful Occasion

In the spring of 2008 I traveled all the way from Wichita Kansas to my daughter's new home in Chicago to go wedding dress shopping with her. After two days at the finest shops in Chicago we ended up at Freida's. Mission accomplished! A custom made gown made in California, expertly altered in Chicago and perfectly boxed up by Freida before its express shipment to Wichita for the formal October 2008 wedding Erica has planned. The perfect dress for the perfect day, we couldn't have been happier! Thank you Freida from one very happy mother of the bride!!

The second I walked past the window to AJO, I felt instant relief - the dress I had been describing was right in the window! Once I, and the six other women with me, walked through the door, Freyda was the only dress shop owner that didn't cringe to see such a large group! We had so much fun there! She really listened to what I was thinking of, and ended up walking out of her closet with the dress I had been dreaming of - with a few alterations that she confirmed on the spot with her seamstress (how amazing is that!?!). She just really wants you to find the perfect dress - that is priority #1 with her. I couldn't imagine a better experience, and will recommend her to any girl I see wearing an engagement ring - whether I know her or not!

I loved this experience. Every other bridal shop was pushy, but Freyda clearly does this because she loves it. She was constantly running back and forth bringing out new gowns for me to try, and ALWAYS in my budget. She was sweet to my mom and roommate, and gave us big hugs when we left.

The selection is huge! I got my Winnie Couture dress there for $500 and know it retails for $2000. She has higher end dresses as well, but I stayed away from those... haha. Freyda also has lots and lots of veils, jewelry, etc. It's a one stop shop. I think she even had shoes!

Freyda is absolutely wonderful. She made the whole experience so fabulous. I found the perfect dress and couldn't ask for better service. I have referred so many brides to her and every single one had the same experience and purchased gorgeous dresses. Now my sister is getting married and is all set to find her perfect gown at Freyda's. Can't wait to see her again!

Freyda (the owner) is fabulous. She is so very helpful and sincere. She ensures that each bride who comes to her home is comfortable and happy in any dress she tries on. I bought a gorgeous dress for a great price. I will recommend Joyful Occasion to any bride in the area! Thanks!

The owner is so sweet and genuine. You can tell that this is her passion. She is very helpful, and the dresses that she has are so pretty. You feel definitely at home at this place, and have personal attention here. I did not end up buying my dress from her, and I do feel bad bc she was so sweet, but I would recommend this place to anyone.

If you're looking for a designer gown at a bargain- this is the place. The samples she sells are in excellent condition and very affordable- a fraction of thier original cost. Has such designers as vera wang, peter lagner, amsale and more, but selection varies so check back frequently.
