Top quality, fresh fish with larger than average portions - the sushi contains large pieces of very tasty fish. For $2 it's very nice to get real crab on the kani sushi and the daily special roll was great - not as many maki options as I would have liked but for someplace this small I can understand. It's still tough to beat Wakamono where the sushi and maki is so good it pretty much melts in your mouth but this place is a great hidden gem, just don't expect to park anywhere nearby.

Pros: Great fish, nice presentation, friendly service

Cons: Limited seating, virtually no parking nearby

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh. Is there a better compliment for a Sushi Restaurant.
Oh, also nice sized portions, wonderful and innovative Maki Rolls, and
very reasonably priced. Service is superb, with the multiple expert Sushi
Chefs (usually at least 3) serving the small (read quaint and comfortable) restaurant of only 7-8 tables.
And, they are always friendly and helpful. Best of all it's BYOB.

I think Green Tea is absolutely wonderful. The sushi is very fresh, positively delicious and VERY well priced. I have been to a large menagerie of sushi restaurants in the Chicago area, and Green Tea remains a personal favorite. The restaurant is very small with only a few tables and the bar, but the staff is very friendly, and the chefs are great. I am a huge fan of their Fried Tofu, Unagi Maki, and other Maki rolls.

I first discovered Green Tea Japanese Restaurant when I lived one block north on Belden Avenue. The restaurant is small and not highly publicized, but offers good sushi at a resonable price. Most of the crowd are locals and they accept take out and they also deliver.

The restaurant only seats about 15-20 people, so be sure to plan a good time well in advance.

PROS: Good sushi for the price, cozy and small
CONS: nothing exotic, won't be able to handle large parties

For straight up fresh and inventive sushi, Green Tea is the best sushi restaurant in Chicago. True, models don't frequent the place and they don't have exotic drinks (it's BYOB), but the sushi is by far and away the most consistent in town. The kani is to die for and all of their maki rolls are incredible. Try it once and you'll become an instant regular.

Green Tea is the best sushi I've had in Chicago, in food, value and general ambiance. Fantastic rolls include the crunchy roll with salmon teriyaki which is a special usually and the spicy california roll that uses real crab meat. Everything else is great and always tastes fresh, which is always a tough thing to find in Chicago sushi.
