I had a very unpleasant encounter this afternoon with Illinois Driving School. So much so, that I feel the need to contact anyone associated with this company to voice my complaint, particularly because when I called the driving school myself, the individual who answered the phone was so snide and rude and actually laughed out loud at me and didn't bother to take the complaint. Whether you choose to continue reading, is of course up to you:

The driver of the driving school was on Western Ave (one of the busiest local streets in the city) today (Saturday) at approximately 5:10 p.m. driving in the left lane at an approx speed of 15 miles per hour. He inexplicable stomped on his breaks (no stop sign, speed bump, animal in the road, person crossing the street) and came to a near dead stop, apparently just an inexperienced student driver I would assume. Thankfully I was able to stop in time, being that I was only going 10 mph behind him, however my groceries, including soup, spilled all over my car. I called Illinois Driving School to speak with someone, because 1.) I was upset about it, and 2.) an inexperienced driver, at that rate of speed should not be traveling in the left lane of a very busy street. All I wanted to do was voice my complaint.

The ""gentleman"" that answered the phone was awful. He asked me such questions as why I was following behind a student driver and why I didn't go around him. My answer to these questions was that Western is an extremely busy road (which he said was true), and secondly because it was so busy I was unable to go around the driver - I followed behind him for quite a number of blocks because it was unsafe to go around him in the right lane - which is fine, no problem if the driver didn't come to a dead stop for no reason. When I told him about the groceries, he literally laughed out loud, so much so that he continued to laugh as he tried to ask me questions. This of course infuriated me, I am not without fault I was so angry that I did yell and swear at him. My only reason for the initial call to Illinois Driving School was to make the complaint that the driver should not have been in the left passing lane and then stopped in the middle of the lane nearly causing an accident not only for me, but the line of cars behind me. They could have easily hit me as well.

The company refused to hear my issue, failed to provide any customer service, and apparently employ ineffective instructors who allow student drivers to drive at 15-20 mph below the speed limit in the left lane of a very busy road.

Up to you if you want to either ""learn"" to drive from this company or, if you are desperate, choose to work for them. I'm sure it will be a laugh-a-minute, until someone is injured or killed.

My wife took the lesson from this company. She basically helped the instructor to do her shopping, pick her grandchild and run her errands. It was such a waste of money and time.

PROS: none
CONS: not professional

I had heard that IDE specialized in female instructors so I decided to give them a try because guys can be a little impatient. After two weeks I gave up because I couldn't get an appointment with an instructor. An absolute waste of time. They shouldn't advertise a service they can't deliver.
