I am replying to the Mama Petunia story. I see no reason why Dr. Wessels would need to lie about Petunia being left untreated, in the care of the other clinic. I think what Paula wrote, is an assassination of character of Dr. Wessels I

I first heard of Animal Wellness Center of Monee through our rescue I volunteer with. I seen how Dr. Wessels and all the ladies that work there treated our rescue dogs like they would their own. Very thorough and loving. I was also very impressed on how clean the vet is. Last week my personnel dog became very sick and I was very concerned because all of my dogs have been very healthy up to this point. I felt very comfortable leaving my Petey in Dr. Wessels care knowing she would do everything in her power to help him get better and she did no surprise to me. She explained everything to me thoroughly and kept me updated on his progress daily. My Petey is now home safely and I would never trust my dogs life with anyone but Dr. Wessels. Janey

I first became familiar with Animal Wellness Center while working for a shelter. Dr. Wessels and staff always treated our homeless animals with dignity, love, and compassion. After seeing the lengths she would go through and the generosity towards these animals, I quickly changed my dogs over to her as well. \r
\r
With my own dogs, Dr. Wessels has treated them for various ailments and surgery. She has always been more than fair with her prices. She has always studied and looked for new treatments for one of my dogs who had a lot of issues on her own time trying to solve his mysteries and find the best way to treat him, coming up with new things to try. I do not have the easiest dogs to care for but I have never had to worry leaving them in her care. AWCM has always given them a safe place when I have gone out of town. They have made sure my little men were comfortable while being treated. AWCM even treats my land shark (my little dog) with kindness and understanding even though he is never kind to the staff. Recently, I had to put one of my dogs to rest. It was a very difficult day for me and my family. Dr. Wessels and staff made sure we were comfortable and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. They made that day as easy for us as possible. Cathy even called me later to make sure we were doing okay knowing how difficult it was for us. I know each and every staff member knows what it is like to love a pet that much as they all have several themselves. I think this is why they are so great at what they do and how they can be so loving towards all animals. \r
\r
Recently, my brother's dog had an accident and required immediate attention. Even though it was right before closing time, AWCM stayed after hours to care for his dog. They could have easily referred him to an emergency clinic that would have charged him a lot of money and went home for the day. They were very kind to go above and beyond even for an unfamiliar face. Lucy is now recovering and my brother was very relieved and thankful to have AWCM care for Lucy.\r
\r
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Wessels and staff. They always make me feel at home while I am there. I am so thankful to have found this clinic to provide the best care possible for my ""children"". Thank you Dr. Wessels, Joey, Cathy, Mandy, and Karmalyta! My dogs thank you too! I recommend all of my friends, family, and even strangers to this vet. Animal Wellness Center of Monee is the best thing you can do for your loved one!\r

I wanted to take a moment and say thanks to everyone at the Animal Wellness Center. They were all very nice and understood my concerns about my cat. Dr. Wessels took the time to explain what was wrong, the treatment and what to do when my cat and I got back home. I was also very pleased with how the facility looked. It was very clean & bright and the waiting area was a pleasure. Thanks again, you are now our permanent vet center!

We use Animal Wellness Center of Monee for our lab Brodie and have always been satisfied with the service and treatment of our dog. We recently boarded Brodie for an entire week while we were out of town. The service far surpassed our expectations. We have no need to worry when we are out of town. I think he liked AWCM better than home. We love the care the staff provides our dog. I know they care about him and want to give him the best treatment possible. I find the staff always friendly and helpful. That's why I travel 17 miles to AWCM (passing 2 other vet clinics on my way). I wouldn't trust anyone else with my beloved Brodie. Dr. Wessels and her staff of professionals are wonderful.

Dr. Wessels has to be one of the most caring veterinarians I have ever met. I recently took my cat Stevie in about a week ago because of something he had swallowed. I called them, told them what happened and they told me to bring him in right away. \r
\r
When I arrived, she worked quickly to get the diagnosis since we didn't know what he had digested. She needed to take an xray and literally had the results in less than 1 minute from her digital xray machine. I was amazed. The technology here is truly cutting edge. She took care of him and he is now back to living his luxurious, pampered cat life.\r
\r
The staff there is equally as wonderful. From the nice woman, Joey I believe, at the front desk to her technicians, everyone was very pleasant and professional. \r
\r
This clinic is absolutely beautiful as well. They have a fish tank with sting rays that separates the waiting areas to divide the dogs from the cats...genius! \r
\r
I can't imagine going anywhere else for my pets. Take my word for it, once you take your pet here, you'll never go anywhere else again.\r

I have been to the Wellness Center a half a dozen times over the last couple of years with my ShihTzu named Gomer. Service was always exceptional and I found the staff to be great. Apparently I am boring. I didn't demand any free service, bring road kill in for a miracle save, make a scene in the clinic lobby, or picket outside for animal rights. Some of you people need to get a life - not enough attention as children?\r
Service was great, staff was friendly, facility was clean, and rates were competitive. I will continue going and hope to be in the lobby when the next loon shows up looking for attention.

As a rescue person and animal lover, I feel compelled to respond to Don't go there. I've had a long term personal and professional relationship with Animal Wellness of monee. I've never worked with a more compassionate Animal hosp. Dr. Wessells and her staff have treated hundreds of our hurt, sick, broken, homeless rescue dogs. Not one time, in five years, have they ever refused to help one of our dogs. I cannot count the times we have called them at 2pm, saying animal control just called us, there is a dog who has been hit by a car, can you help. Everytime I've called AWCM, they say ""Bring them in"". Not only do they help us immediately, they treat them with such kindness, AWAYS going the extra mile for these thrown away dogs. I am in there many times a week, I've never seen anyone of the staff treat anyone in a rude or unprofessional manner. As far as the bird comment, that is ludicrous, that bird is a pampered parrot, maybe it was the bird who said shut up!!!, that would be more believable. So, Dr. Wessells, Joey, Cathy, Mandy adn karmalyta, keep up the great work!!! those of us who know you, know what a fantastic job you do, how all of you go above and beyond.

This lady who wrote, ""Don't Go There"" was denied adoption of Sugar because she did not meet criteria, i.e., financial means to care for her, and records from previous vet showed her current dog & cat were not vetted. Denying this adoption was in the best interest of the dog.\r
\r
She & two relatives decided to play a little trick on Animal Wellness Center, going so far as to lie about their identities. THEY GOT CAUGHT!. \r
\r
I am Joey, the ""nice"" one. When I found out they were working a scam to get Sugar, all of a sudden I don't feel so nice anymore.\r
\r
It is unfortunate someone who has a personal vendetta can write blatant lies and put them out there for all the world to see.

I had brought a stray dog that was wandering around our property in rural Green Garden to the Monee police department on Sunday morning at 3am Sep 12th. They took her to the Animal Wellness Center so she would be reunited with her owner if micro chipped.\r
Well on Monday I called to check on status of the dog I called Sugar. \r
Joey I spoke with was polite helpful and sincere. There was no micro chip she explained that if in 10 days no one claimed her that she would be sent to a shelter but at this time they where all full. I offered to contact my family and friends who might be interested in adopting her.\r
My sister inlaw contacted Joey expressed interest and gathered information about the stray Sugar. My sister inlaw is a Vet Tech. Her main concern was Sugar getting a long with her other dogs. Joey agreed.\r
As time drew closer to the tenth day my sister inlaw made plans to come 2 hours south to pick Sugar up. We both took day off work made plans.\r
3 days before she received an email with costs for spaying and vaccines. Which all pet owners know are not free. \r
My sisterinlaw asked if costs could be reduced knowing as Vet Tech what charges are, they where fair to begin with but both she and I where loosing a days pay and she had a car ride 2 hours each way.\r
\r
The following day Kathy called my sister inlaw revoking the adoption!!! They called her Vet and her dog was up to date on rabies but no other vaccines. She expalined because she does this herself with her backround.\r
This is where rude ignorant and abbrasive begins. Kathy told her the Vet said no because of irresponsible pet ownership! it was more about the money!!!\r
We wanted Sugar to be reuntied with her family and we wanted to be humane and provide a good home knowing all shelters are full!!!\r
\r
I went into the wellness center on Wednesday totally unaware of what had transpired to walk Sugar and get her out of the cage. When this Kathy treated me with disdain, very rude ,told me I could not see her and she was no longer available. I left shocked saddened called my sisterinlaw from parking lot where she informed me of the above.\r
I returned next day to retreive my collar and leash I had lent the Monee Police officer.\r
\r
Where I meet the Vet. When I went in the door a green Parrot greeted me with a hello and continued for 7 minutes saying hello When the Vet began yelling to shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!! & came down the hall to do who know's what to the bird when there I stood. She looked shocked she asked what she could do for me in an abrassive tone, when I told her who I was and what I was there for she sent Kathy up to give me the leash. She was rude also!\r
How anyone can say they work with animals and be so rude and unsincere I do not know.\r
I hope no one takes their dear pets in there!!\r
I pray Sugar goes to a no kill shelter where she will find a loving home.\r
please don't use this vet she has bed side manner.\r
Joey is best person there! I thank her for helping but warn you the Vet and Kathy are rude, incredulous, questionable and do not have the animals best interests in mind!!!

I am very impressed with this facility. The doctor is very knowledgeable and compassionate. The staff is extremely friendly. They all go out of their way to give yout pet the best care there is. The best testament is that my dog actually wants to go there. He wags his tail the minute he gets to the front door.

I went to look up the phone number for the clinic and found this ridiculous review. I had to write a response. \r
\r
I was actually in the waiting room when this guy came in. Yes he had an injured rabbit but I do not know what he expected the Dr. to do? She is running a business caring for family pets. This was not a family pet, it was a wild animal. I remember this clear as day, when the receptionist said that it would be $40 to euthanize the rabbit, he said that he came in to do the humane thing. This was his demand: ""Either euthanize this bunny or I am going to run it over with my truck!"" Hmmm.. that does not seem very humane. I guess his wife forgot to mention that part in her review. That is when the Dr. came out to handle the situation because he was yelling and making a scene in the waiting room.\r
\r
So form your own opinion of what happened with this particular case.\r
\r
Personally, I think that Dr. Wessels is a wonderful and caring Dr. and so is her staff. I have been going to her for years and have always been treated with respect and care. Then again, I come in with the intentions of paying my bill when she fixes my cats. \r
\r
I would totally disregard this guys experience. Wildlife is exactly that, wildlife. Let the circle of life take its course and bring your family pets here because they will be well cared for.\r
\r
She gets 5 stars with me on all levels.\r

We found an injured rabbit that obviously had a broken back but was still alive. We brought it to Animal Wellness of Monee assuming they would know what to do or who to call.

They wanted my husband to fill out a form. He told them I am just dropping off this poor rabbit. I wanted to do the humane thing and not leave it to suffer. They said you still have to fill out the form. Then they wanted $40.00!

My husband basically said - what is wrong with you people, I am trying to do the humane thing here and you want to charge me for a wild rabbit?

Then the vet stormed out from the back and angrily said ""You the one with the rabbit?"" ""Give it to me - you can go!""

I realize that it costs money to put an animal down but how much can it cost for a small rabbit? And how often do people bring wildlife into the vet where it would be a constant expense for them? A little customer service and compassion would have been nice.

We live 5 minutes away from this vet and were thinking of switching because they are so close. That's NOT going to happen! One star is too generous for this vet.
