CarX held my car ransom! I went to CarX to get my brake pads changed. After receiving my quote, I told the owner to go ahead with the job. The owner mentioned that they were pretty busy and that the job would be completed in about two to two and a half hours. Less than 5 minutes went by and I decided to hold off on the brake job and shop around for pricing.

The Owner of the franchise told me that they had already started working on my car and that he would have to charge me $85 for labor.

Upon inspecting my car, I noticed that only 1 of the calipers was removed and the other was still intact.

Now $89 was the total advertised price to replace both brake pads. I don??t understand why 1. I was charged for a service I didn??t receive and 2. I was charged for brake pads I didn??t receive. Furthermore, if I was charged for the labor of removing one caliper why was the labor cost higher for a single caliper that the labor cost of replacing both brake pads plus the costs of the brakes themselves.

I attempted to explain the math to the owner but he refused to 1. negotiate on a lower labor cost, 2. include other services such as a $24 oil change, and 3. give me the brake pads I already paid for. He also refused to return my car keys until he received payment.

Since the owner was holding my car ransom, I decided to call the police.

A few officers did come and visit the auto shop, however their presence didn??t help the situation. They mentioned that it was a civil matter between the business owner and myself and they weren??t going to get involved. They suggested that I pay the service fee and complain to the better business bureau and CarX??s corporate headquarters.

After wasting 2 hours, and realizing I didn??t have another option, I finally decided to pay CarX the labor fee.

After having such a bad experience with this individual CarX franchise and discovering that CarX doesn??t drug test their employees, I will never go back to a CarX for any type of service.

I went to this location for a brake inspection and they told me I needed new brakes and rotors. When I got a 2nd opinion, lo and behold, my brakes and rotors were fine.

Do not go here!
