Mediocre

by Dorota K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,661

I was not impressed with this restaurant. The service was mediocre and the food was not as tasty as I expected. In fact, it did not smell appetizing. I went with several other people and no one really cared for the food they ordered.

Fantastic!!

by Brande O. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,474

I wish I lived closer to Yanni's. Beautiful atmosphere both inside and outside with flowers and architecture that takes you to another country. Perfect for a special occasion. A good sign is that we often see Greek families celebrating over dinner at Yanni's. The filo dough stuffed with salmon, feta cheese and spinach is more decadent than any dessert you will ever eat. Come hungry!

Yanni's Best Greek restaurant Arlington Heights,Schaumburg

by julieocs

This is a very nice upscale Greek restaurant. They have a daily selection of fresh seafood, steaks and all the favorite Greek dishes. I've never been disappointed, from the delicious fresh bread to the Taramosalata to any entree's I've had- Seafood & Greek dishes mostly. Yanni's is a nice spot for a business lunch with great ambience-like a short get away to the Greek Islands. The service is very good! The outside entrance is gorgeous with a majestic fountain & flora that wraps around the building, providing a lovely view from a window seat. I recomend taking a date to Yanni's for a nice dinner or business lunch. You will love the food, service and ambience

Pros: great food, ambience, service

Excellent time in suburbian "Greek Town"

by wifeofthegreat1

We have dined all over the city and suburbs. We try to "dine" at least twice a month. By "dine" I mean, cocktails, apps, wine, entree, after dinner drinks, coffee...the whole bit. In our younger years, we put ourselves through college being servers. I would bet some of the reviewers (especially ones that complain after being with a large party) have never been servers. Sometimes coffee does take more than 10 minutes to get when you are putting in a dessert order, taking out entrees and tending to other people. Every time someone asks for anything, be it an extra plate, or a lemon, that is another trip to the kitchen taking time away from getting what another person needs. In a large party, one half of the table usually doesn't know what the other half is doing and causes much confusion and frustration for your server. Cocktails should be ordered all at once. Once those are delivered, an appetizer order can be taken. If half the party orders drinks and expects apps to be taken, but the other half of the party is now ready to order drinks, it throws the whole night off and the server is to blame. The fact that one would give $0 tip is ridiculous. That server just worked an entire night for free and now won't be able to pay a bill. If there is an issue so horrible as to not tip your waiter anything, it should be taken up with the manager. Perhaps the server knew you would be stingy and stood over your shoulder to try to squeeze a little humanity out of you. Yanni's is an excellent restaurant with wonderful food and great service. We have never been rushed or slighted. You get what you give.

Pros: ambience, decor, food

Worst Dining Experience

by ShekStorms

Went there last weekend for a birthday dinner, and it was horrible all the way around, the only thing that made it bearable was the food was decent. Our waiter was so rude, it was shocking. Got angry at the smallest requests, and the only reason we made requests was because he never came around to provide us anything but our orders, which some were wrong anyway. Yet he had the nerve to stand right next to us and watch what we were writing for the tip on the check. We brought his behavior to the attention to the manager, and he couldn't even offer an apology and could only promise we won't have the same server again if we come back. Very arrogant, rude and miserable people. Will never dine there again.

Pros: There was an exit out of there

Cons: Everything

Most Horrible place EVER!

by celticdream

We went as a family for a birthday and it was the worst experience we have ever had. Don't EVER ask for seperate checks because it makes the wait staff extreamly angry! After that we never got refills on our drinks, coffee took over 10 minutes before it was served and then you could tell it was the end of it it was so terrible. Food was okay but nothing special. You can get 10 times better in Greek town. To top it off the waiter stood behind us to watch what kind of tip he got. He should have not been surprised to see that everyone gave him zero! Don't waste your money or your time at this place!!!!

Pros: The meal ended

Cons: Everything

Great food and even better service

by mm241

We had a very good experience at Yannis last week. Our servers name was Angelo. The grilled octapus was excellent and so was the braised lamb. Angelo was very courteous and really made our dining experience memorable by not rushing us and by his recommendations. We will definitely be back.

Best Greek food outside of Greek town

by luvs2travel

We love Yanni's. Everytime we visit we have an excellent meal, great service and a great seat. There really isn't a bad seat in Yanni's. It has multiple levels on in the main dining room. On the other side by the bar it is flat if levels are not manageable. In the summer they block off a portion of the patio and ring it with evergreen trees so it feels secluded. The entire indoors is decorated like you are in the heart of the mediterranean, but it is simple and elegant. It has great views of an outdoor pond by the windows or nice and cozy by the fireplace. It also has warm lighting, but not so dim you cannot see. It also has good acoustics so even when it is busy you can hear clearly. The prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious. We have never been disappointed in any item off the menu. Yanni's has a good wine list with several greek wines and popular favorites. It's also easy on and off the Kennedy since it's only a block away. There isn't any valet parking, but it's not needed since it has a huge parking lot.

Pros: great food, good location, reasonable prices

Best Greek Food in Chicago!

by reiffmb

You can't go wrong when chosing any item off of the menu at Yanni's. Everything is delicious, especially the lamb and saganaki. The outdoor seating area is perfect on a warm summer night.
