This was the absolute WORST business I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The service here is garbage and I've never felt so disrespected in my life. My car was towed after a week of expired registration from my apartment complex,

These guys are nothing but THUGS! Worst towing company experience of my entire life. Had a guest come by to dropoff some food for me while I was sick, my guest was here for less than 15 minutes and got towed. My guest didn't have enough

Worst service ever! They are vultures of towing and looking to prey on any car that is unattended! They will even go as far as breaking into your car and remove your parking pass and tow you illegally!

They literally prowl parking lots for cars to tow, and when you go to get your car their customer service is HORRENDOUS. I went to my car one morning to go to work to find it was towed because my license plate sticker was expired (mind you, it was not). I go there and tell them the proof of registration is in my glove box and that I'd like to access to my car to show them it, but they refused and forced me to pay the $150 plus invoice fee prior to going to my car to get it. Apparently my sticker fell off or was taken off - sure I'd like to think no one would do this, but who's to stop them from peeling off these stickers to tow your car? This is not a legitamate reason to tow a car - even the police won't tow your car for that, to my knowledge they just ticket you. I asked why they don't call to check your plates before aimlessly towing and the guy basically said the police don't waste their time on this then proceeded to ?brag? about how they towed 10 cars from the lot last night. Needless to say I was pissed and showed my proof of registration to them, and they didn't really seem to care and wouldn't reimburse me at that time. After complaining to the apartment complex, the tow company did somehow reimburse us, but this should never have happened in the first place. Oh, and not letting you into your car in the first place is illegal. Shame on the apartment complex (who has proof of our cars registration by the way) allowing them to prowl the lots for this also. Why isn't there an option for 0 stars? This company is not BBB accredited and have a F rating on there. Then there's the article about a man who was stabbed by an employee there...yeah, great place.

Got my car towed by them, wasn't too upset about giving them $170, as I manned up and took responsibility for being negligent on my part. It was the way they handled my car which made me disgusted that these businesses are not being more closely monitored. I won't even bother complaining about how they jump at the first opportunity to tow your car, or how they refuse to give you a slightest break if you immediately run outside before they have even hooked the car up. Those things aren't even comparable to the big issue at hand, which is this company's negligence and pure unprofessionalism. When I got there I had to pay before I could see my car, and upon seeing my car I immediately saw damage to the bumper, which was snapped out of its position, bent the bolt which holds the spare tire in place (now the spare tire cannot be accessed), they dented and put a hole in the oil tank underneath the car (still getting the car inspected by a professional) and not to mention dragged my car, which is an all-time-4-wheel-drive, around the parking lot with all four wheels locked, leaving more potential damage behind! A boot would of gotten the message across just as effectively! I would gladly pay you to come remove the boot next time I forget to renew my sticker just to keep your greedy unprofessional hands off of my car. I wasn't going to write this review but like barb27 said, make an effort and leave a review, inform your association of the feedback that the real people are leaving behind and advise them to go with a more professional company. Oh, and what really was the boiling point for me, and what made me sit down and write this review is what Peter, in his Yahoo review had to say about his experience with this company: \n\n""After pointing out the illegalities of everything he had just claimed, he turned around in a huff and muttered ""stupid f-ing polish people"". To my dis-credit, I did not let that comment go and told him ""yeah, we're polish, and we're a lot smater than you"", which then triggered another barrage of profanities and threats to not release my car.""\n\n& \n\n""The lady behind the counter was very respectful, as was I. They are only doing thier contracted jobs. What became a problem was when the man behind the counter began shouting at the top of his voice ""Park your F-ing car"" repeatedly at my father who was obviously not parking his car fast enough for this person after dropping me off. After several shouts I said quote ""Quit yelling at my father, and knock it off"". I used no profanity, in this entire exchange.""\n\nWhat kind of a professional carries themselves in this way? Not to mention that like a third of our complex is Polish! I would love to hear how they feel about these comments, and them preying on our honest mistakes just to drag our cars away and leave us with a ton of damage to deal with. I strongly encourage everyone that lives in these complexes where NW Recovery gets business to video tape them every time they are towing someone. Regardless of whether it is your car or not, you at least want to give your neighbors minimal proof that any damages caused by them weren't there prior to the tow. We have the freedom to video tape police officers doing their jobs, we definitely have the right to keep an eye on a towing company as well.

These people are just unbelievable. My car was towed when I was already out on the parking with the car keys. A driver of a towing truck has ignored me when I asked him to stop, even though he was still on the property. \n\nOnce I got my car back, I found that the car was opened and searched, and the guest ticket that was displayed on the front was gone. \n\nI will file the complaint to make one small step towards pulling the licenses from this business. By the way, when I was there all their licenses that are displayed at the office are expired, and they have ignored my request to show their current license. \n

First of all, good luck with your complaints. Hope they are going quite well. Northwest recovery is a legitimate business contracted by the various establishments, be they apartment complexes, hotels, etc. They are contracted to tow people like you who do not follow the rules set forth by the said establishments. When you enter into, for example, a lease agreement with an apartment complex you are agreeing to follow their rules which are set and explained in the lease agreement. They have the right to change these rules at any time. The rules are set by the property management or governing boards, Northwest just enforces those rules. Much the same way a police officer enforces the law. If you break any of these rules you will pay the consequences. Now if you don't belong on the property, such as is the case with a lot of hotels, you will also be towed. For example, there is a bar in Schaumburg, people think they can park at the hotel and walk across the street. At this point you are trespassing. Would you rather be arrested for trespassing and/or have your car taken by the police or would you rather have Northwest tow it to their safe and secure location and have to pay only $150-$170? I think the answer there is pretty obvious. This company has been around for 15+ years now and I don't see them going under at any point in the near or far future thanks to people like you. And by the way, the owners, past and present, do not own any of these properties. Also, good luck avoiding these types of companies. They are very wide spread and do not work together. If you enter just about any parking lot you will see a sign with a tow companies name and information. These are the same types of companies. And, little tip for you, the city of Chicago is even worse, I myself was towed by Lincoln Towing a few years ago for parking at a Walgreens and walking around the corner, fully intending to come right back to Walgreens and shop. But I realize I did not follow their rules. And, no, I do not own nor do I work for Northwest.

Yes, to everyone else! This is a dirty shady business, that seems to fit right in with the area! They definitely have people spying and towing your car even WITH a sticker. Once they have it, all of it is up to them, since there truly is no other choice but to figure out some way to pay. No matter what! The really bad thing is that no one has stood up to these shady practices. They are obviously in kahoots with the apartment complexes, hotels, etc. in the area. Don't ever visit anyone in their area because there will be a way to get your car unless you are in a garage, and even then I'm not sure if you're safe. I am filing a complaint with the local Chambers, the US Chamber and whomever else I can find. I believe that the owners are also owners of the hotels/apartment complexes and as soon as I search and discover all of this....I will follow up with a conflict of interest law suit. Don't worry Kharma works all on its own with people who treat others (unneccessarily) the way they do. They could just as well operate their business by being kind and compassionate but it's their choice to be the way they are. They get their kicks from it. Well, not forever, I've lived long enough to know that things come around!! Love all you fellow towee's from the lovely Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, etc. area, ick!! Nasty place! (not even one star, but they make you put one) Oh, and the defensive writer, who obviously works there or owns the place may need to understand a bit about statistics. The reason not many complaints have been registered is partly due to the psychological fact that it isn't worth most peoples time. It's just easier to walk away and never come into your towns again. And believe me this is easy. I would pay for parking in the city and take a train in to visit relatives, rather than park or shop in this area again! Lucky for me, I'm retired and have all the time in the world. I will use some of it to file formal complaints, come and speak at Chamber events (yes I have great credentials and am a desired speaker) and have a better look into your practices! Maybe you've finally messed with some of the wrong people!!

Bascially these guys are just ignorant. When questioned ""why was my car towed?"" The response received was ""You didn't have a f*&king sticker"".\n\nI responded with ""Woa chill out dude"" and was greeted with more obcenities and vulgar language. I pointed out that the sign in thier own office says to treat people with respect, but the obviously doesn't apply to employees.\n\nSean (Big, fat and stupid) then proceeded to try and ""fight me"". Yeah..I'm gonna fight some fat slob on his towing property because HE has a stick up his ass. No thanks. Its not our fault that you deal with complaints all day, its the business you chose. Maybe if you weren't such an idiot, you'd be able to so something better with your life.\n\nAlso, to the review I saw about the BBB.....this company isn't even accredited and has an F rating. From YOUR OWN BBB! Most people aren't going to file a complaint against a company that already has and F especially if they aren't accredited since it basically means nothing.\n\nIf anyone else reads this, the best thing you can do is just get their contracts cancelled in various complexes in the area. Hit them where it hurts, complaining to the ICC is useless.\n\nBy the way, my tow was perfectly legal because we didn't have a sticker....we didn't even complain before the fat slob decided he wanted to try and pick a fight. I guess thats what lower life forms do though.

So I had my car towed this Saturday by this worthless dirty business. I understand that I screwed up and parked at the Extended Stay (my fault, I take the blame for this) however, I was floored when I observed these ppl to see how they run their dirty business. \r\n\r\nSo here's the deal. When you first drive in the parking lot of Extended Stay in order to park there and go across the street to John Barleycorn, there is a ""spy"" sitting in a white jeep suv, on the adjacent empty parking lot. As soon as they see you driving into the parking lot of Extended Stay, the car (with no lights on) starts driving with you (in adjacent empty parking lot) and once they see that you park and where you park, and they see you going across the street...the spy (there are two of them in the white jeep) makes a call to these dirty ppl and your car is towed in 5 mins. Nice way of doing business, right? And, from what I noticed, the hotel and The All Star Cab Company are all in on this. \r\n\r\nWhile I was waiting for someone to pick me up so that I can buy my car back ($170) I noticed at least 3-4 cabbies pull up into the parking lot of Extended Stay in an attempt to drive the individuals who had their car towed to the towing place...nice huh? \r\n\r\nSo, please do not park at the Extended Stay across the street from John Barleycorn and save yourself around $200. And when you see the ""spy"" in the white jeep on the adjacent parking lot, please flip him from me :-) \r\n\r\nOh and I forgot to mention, that when you go to buy back your car....you will be greeded by a rude/disgusting/white trash looking lady at the actual office. \r\n\r\nAnd finally, you don't get to see your car unless you pay and you cannot take any photos on their property of any damage that these idiots might cause to your car.

Pros: Absolutely nothing

Cons: dirty, shady, scandelous, filty rip offs

Here's a little bit of information from your very own BBB. . seeing that you all seem to know exactally what is going on. This is taken straight from their site: \r\n\r\nCustomer Complaint History for Northwest Recovery, Inc.\r\nWhen considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.\r\n\r\nBBB processed A TOTAL OF 8 complaints about Northwest Recovery, Inc. IN THE LAST 36 MONTHS, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 8 complaints closed in 36 months, 1 was closed in the last year.\r\n\r\nSo what the facts are actually reflecting are that these claims are unfounded and inacurate. Maybe you should review the parking rules and try to obey them instead of blaming NWR for your short comings. Let me also say that some nights we tow up to 20-30 cars per night. . so for those of you that are able to do math. . i'm sure you can figure that the complaints really are far and few between. . that is because these workers do follow the rules and are just doing what the companies they have a contract are requesting they do. \r\n

Pros: They are hard working men and women

Cons: they have to deal with ignorance on a daily basis. .

We aren't reps, we're wives. \r\nNow, if you look in the complex rules, you'll see that visitors may only park for so long. That is the rule at almost any complex. As for not taking your card, they have the right (just like anyone) to refuse your payment. Especially if they think you might cancel your payment. By the way, that's theft & you will be prosecuted.\r\nIf you think a driver damaged your car, you should say so before you even get into your car. Once you leave the lot, there is nothing anyone can do. Unless you tape every second of your car there is no proof who did the damage or when. It's obvious if the driver damaged it or not. There are only certain ways your car can be damaged by a tow truck.\r\nYou're wrong, there aren't 19 employees. There's less. But you're right, they make alot of money. Because eople don't follow rules. I check this site quite often, & that's all I see.\r\nAgain, you're wrong. They can still renew their license. Complaints or not. 99% of the complaints are unfounded & the BBB & the ICC find them so.\r\nFinally, if you go anywhere with an attitude, upset, not listening, accusing the employees of things, then you don't deserve to be respected. Don't forget the golden rule-Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So, if you treat the employees like crap, you'll get treated like crap. \r\nThanks to people like you, the families of NWR are able to live comfortably. So, please, keep breaking laws & rules.

I live in a complex with no assigned guest parking spaces, however, as a guest you have to have a guest parking sticker and it is recommended to park at the end of the complex. My parents have been visiting and staying by me for the last few weeks, and they have a quest parking sticker displayed in their windshield. Their car got towed twice already, first time NWR claimed that they were parked too close to the complex, the second time they claimed that the guest parking sticker was not visible (it was hanging on the mirror of the front windshield! - I don't know how could it possibly be not visible). I had to call police to be able to take the car, because they only wanted to get cash and wouldn't take a debit/credit card, even though they DO accept VISA/MC/Discover. They threw my card at me and told me to get cash or just leave. \r\n \r\n FYI: they don't like to take card payments because it's a legal paper trail and may be disputed with your bank or credit card carrier.\r\n \r\n Also, when they do process credit card payments they record your full credit card number on their invoice and your copy of a receipt, which is ILLEGAL. If this happend to you, you can send a complaint on the reverse side of your copy of a ticket, and they WILL get a fine of $100.00 for not following Illinois Personal Fraud and Theft and Identety protection laws. \r\n \r\n Also, if your car got broken into or just damaged as a result of their towing, you should mention it on the same complaint form, and you will be provided with their Insurance information, which you can take to your insurance company, and they will make a claim. Hope this helps. People and businesses like this should not be on the market, and it is up to us - consumers, to make a difference. \r\n \r\n Their annual revenue is $1 to 2.5 million dollars for the employee staff of approximatly 19 people! They make that money by doing what they want and creating their own rules and they wont stop unless someone does something about it. After speaking with Police dept and Business Commerce agent I found our that if there is sufficient ammount of legit claims/complaints filed against NWR - they wont be able to renew their business license. \r\n \r\n I have nothing against businesses that perform their job correctly, following the laws, and with human respect. I understand that this is the kind of business that deals with many frusturated customers and sometimes has tough situations to work with. HOWEVER, there is a difference when you come into a place and being treated disrespectfully from the getco, and when a business just breaks the laws and gets away with it. I work too hard for my money to pay for their ""weddings"" (as mentioned by one of their reps below), and I believe in fair treatment for all.\r\n Please spread the word.

I can't believe this company still exists. Needless to say the cops needed to be called because the driver pushed the owner of the car and called him obsenities. Telling him that if he didn't have a witness he'd be on the ground, also that he'll tow his car even if it's in the driveway next time....its his word against the owner. The owner of the vehicle DID have a sticker placed in the rear window with the date on it. They tow just to tow. They should be PUT out of business! It's unfortunate the association deals with this company. \r\nAt least a police report was filed, the guy is an IDIOT for treatening the person that lives there. He should be fired for that.

This is no way to deal with people.\r\n Our lighting crew was working inside a target store in palatine, so we have authorization to leave our truck parked out of the way in their lot. At 3:25 am on our second and final night of work in the store our truck was stolen by Northwest recovery and held for a ransom of 520$, cash or personal credit only, they refused our company card. A co-workers personal credit card was refused on the grounds that his state issued ID and temporary drivers liscence was insuficient. This company is Extorting monies off of legitimate working Americans. Something must be done, and i for one am publishing a complaint.

I don't understand what the problem is!!! All people that are upset with NW Recovery need to re-examine each scenario carefully!!! If you parked where you shouldn't then it is understood that you will be towed, therefore, you need to pay the fine! Most cases $150! It is unfortunate that you people are discriminating the employees of NW Recovery, when they are simply doing their job. It is a job that is putting food on the table! I Love Northwest Recovery and Repossession and all of their employees are hard working, strong, and smart individuals. You all tell them to get a real job, well thanks to you guys you're keeping them in buisness and paying for both mine and my best friend's wedding! Thank you!!! Muah! Call for your buisness, it's appreciated! =)

I understand that people who tow cars don't have the best customers coming in to pick up their cars especially when they have to pay $150 after the cars was towed and broken into. The people at Northwest Recovery are very rude and really have terrible customer service. I definitely will never deal with this towing company even if I was stranded and had no other way to get car towed. I think that a little understanding would be appreciated and hope the employees of this establishment are reprimanded.

I am going to have to agree with the majority of the reviews that are here in saying that Northwest Recovery is an awful company thats full of a bunch of jerks. Unlike most of the other reviews here though i will admit i should have paid more attention to the one and only sign that was posted in the half mile parking lot where i was parked. when i went into get my car back i actually did go in there without an attitude not being rude or disrespectful in any way and when i handed the woman behind the counter my visa, which on the sign does say they accept, well when my receipt printed out and i signed it and she said my signature looked like chicken scratch and told me ""now lets try this again"" in a very rude and degrading tone of voice. There's no need for this kind of disrespect. so i told her ""if you didn't like my signature then i don't know what to tell you"" and she started just giving me this cold stare and went on to explain that if i dont resign it then i can go get cash and ""ill say whatever i want to say"" im sorry lady but its not my fault you have a miserable life. This company should rethink how they treat ""customers"". while my car was relocated against my will it doesn't give them the right to treat people badly or any different than a customer who actually had requested their services. success in a business is all about word of mouth to build your reputation and I don't think theirs is to good at all. F you northwest recovery you can lick my sack.

Too bad my homeowners' association doesn't read your reviews. NW Recovery isn't even listed in the BBB's Accredited Businesses listing--did I miss it? The car was parked in it's authorized parking space and it displayed the association's parking permit. This didn't stop NW from towing it at 2:15 a.m., Monday, because my son's license sticker broke off. Did you know that if your license plate sticker breaks apart, is stolen or lost, NW will tow it? According to a clerk at the State's Licensing Dept in Schaumburg, stickers are often stolen or break apart because of Chicago's extreme winters. CHECK YOUR LICENSE PLATES DAILY! To add more insult, my son's car broke down shortly after he reclaimed his car: A battery recharge by AAA, another $130 towing off of a two-lane hwy--w/o a cell phone (w/his 4 yr old son in the back seat) and an additional $163 charge to reconnect his battery. His car works great again. If I understand correctly, according to Illinois Commercial Relocation of Trespassing Vehicles Law, ""It is illegal for any towing co. to tow vehicles from private property if the owner...is at the scene...."" Hello! He was sleeping not 40 ft. away at 2:00 in the morning....I'm proud to add my ""not recommended"" review.

You guys are right. Trailor trash. My car was towed I picked it up and it was damaged they denied it and when i came home I saw marks all over my drive way. They were totally rude to me when I was there. I tried to pay with a credit card and i wrote ""under protest"" on the reciept then he voided it and said he would only take cash from me and he wouldnt talk to me til i came back with cash. So I did and my car was damaged. Bunch of jerks. I have filed all sorts of complaints and will take them to small claims court if i need to.

The people that hire these scumbags to do the dirty work of towing must be going for who ever is the cheapest. They definately ruined my car after towing it and denied it and said I did it myself! I am too reporting them! Being towed is a seperate issue for whatever reason the individual is being towed and I think we eventually get over that anger, but when these jerks are damaging cars that is over the limit! Companies and buisness places BEWARE before signing a agreement with these people to tow cars off of your properties. You will be in the middle of lawsuits!

I agree with a few of these reviews that this company [as well as the companies that work along side them] are CROOKS. I understand that I may have parked in a hotel lot however I was going to stay there at the end of the night...there was no documentation saying that I needed a receipt in order to NOT get towed...hun!?! you people really need an education! Second, my license plate is bent and smashed inwards, and trust me, I would not let that happen to my car! There are 2 noticable scratches on the driver side of my car that were NOT there before because I had just had my car washed! I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE THIS [they were taken at your ""business""!!] !! I have no hesitation calling a particular business that has the power to put you out of business because they need to be aware of this scam and damage to personal property! If this issue is not resolved I will have to take this to court. There are many many other towing companies out there that are friendly and willing to help others rather than stealing their money and damaging their property! Good luck with this business because unfortunately you will eventually lose.\r\nOnly to add to my frustrations, I spoke with the ""Manager"" and he literally YELLED at me calling ME names because I simply inquired about slight damage to my car and why someone didnt just tap me on the shoulder telling me to move my car [instead of sneaking up after i had JUST walked away to tow me!] THEN he decided to call ME a scam artist!! haha MORONS!! Just so people are aware, I did contact who needed to be contacted if you know what I mean. So i'm hoping this situation will be resolved very soon.

What can I say, these guys are crooks. I've complained to everybody but nobody will listen to me about how unfair the way these guys treated me and my friends. First off there isnt aany sign saying I can't park on the grass, and there aren't anny parking spaces available so it isnt my fault. Then when I went to pick it up they wouldn't give me my own car back unless I paid them. I've been sending them mail to their website @ northwestrecovery . com and they just keep saying I can file my complaint with the state. Somebody needs to do something about this crime. Keep sending them mail to nwrecovery@msn . com and let thhem knoe what you think of their deceptive practices.
