My experience ends today as I'm rescueing my 85 year old mother from a poorly run facility after 100 days. Many promises were made for me to place her there, few were fulfilled, only after repeated complaints. My mother is blind and a brittle diabetic. She needs to be monitored to make sure she is eating. That was done only when I was there, or by her 91 year old tablemate. I found that the dining room chairs and floors constantly needed cleaning just to sit down without soiling one's clothing or sticking to the floor. As to the kitchen staff, plates are served randomly, instead of feeding the entire table at once. The only time I saw their undivided attention was when the state public health inspectors were there and then only because they brought in staff from every other shift to look competant. Incontinent patients are left for hours or ignored by cna and nurse alike unless told which many a resident can not. Even when they hold their hands up or push a call button often they wait 30+ min. for aide. Be very cautious if you plan to place your loved one there. Their motto "family caring for family" God help their family. Family is not to be ignored in a wheel chair parked by a big screen tv in a lobby. They claim that patients are taken outside but they are so understaffed that is next to impossible.
Also be aware that although you are quoted a daily room rate, they add on tons of miscellaneous charges nickel and dimeing you to death. Forced to use their medicine supplier, they only order 30 day supplies which are outrageously expensive rather than the 90 day supplies you can get from home. I was pushed into the donut hole of medicare part d, Adding over $1200. to the monthly room rate. Be sure to check your bill carefully as many contain errors, always in their favor.

My experience with Apline Fireside is with my husband, who was a long time diabetic...... He'd gone to Apline because it was the only Nursing home available through Medicare that would take him locally... It was the worst experience in my life! When he got there it seemed ok, but as he was trying to rehabilitate from an terrible episode in the hospital he had to go there to build up his strength.. Well while he was there ( almost a week and a half to 2 weeks) I got to see the real care they give.... He was put on a different insulin while he was there. One day when I tried to clean him up, there were no clean towels or washclothes!!!!!!! They had no wipes He was fed in a timely fashion. He then left by ambulance in a comatose state and the Nursing home only tried to notify my cell phone (at the time was a pay as you go and was charging) never once tried my home phone(and I was at home)
.... I was devestated at that time over the way they handled his cituation. My daughter-in-law had come to visit him and didn't find him in his room.... The nurses station said to her when she asked where he was, "and what relation are you to him" She told them to call my home phone. That was how I found out he'd left Alpine Fireside in Rockford to go to the hospital..... I would never put my DOG IN THAT PLACE. I hope this will save anyone making a choice as to where to place a loved one, the agony I went through! He was too sick for them to handle him and I was there practically every day to make sure things went according to the way they should. The one time I had to start some laundry and was at home. This is what happened to us, and my husband never came home from the hospital, he died there. Thank God!!!!! I only gave 1 star because I had to rate with a star from 1 - 5 There were no OOOOOOs!

I know of someone who lives here...and a few who work here. They alright. I would never put a family member in here. They are always short staffed, the kitchen staff does however go out of there way to make sure that everything is done correctly, would be nice if nursing was that great. They do go thru CNA's quickly. Admin. needs to get act togerher to keep staff there on a long term basics. Sometimes when I go visit resident at this place it is running wonderfully...then other times it seems like all hell is about ready to break thru. Be careful with this place like any type of nursing center.
