I strongly discourage you from using Rowens for your kennel or grooming needs. In July 2011, I left my two dogs in the care of the kennel. About a month later, I had to put one of the dogs down because she never recovered from the lack of care received at this facility. Upon arrival to drop my dogs off for the week, the front desk attendant was on a personal phone call. As she checked me in, she proceeded to tell me about her night shift at Wal-Mart and how tired she was. These should have been red flags that she was too busy or tired to properly take care of my dogs. Upon arrival to pick my dogs up, the front desk attendant (who I later found out was the owner?s daughter and the person primarily running the facility) was on a personal call yet again. She told me that at one point during their stay, Cinnamon was not coming back in when called after being let out so they stopped taking her out and let her go to the bathroom in her cage. When she handed the dogs over to me, Cinnamon (Yorkie) had green oozing out of both eyes and looked greasy (they had groomed her at the beginning of her stay rather than when she left). She made no comment about the dog?s condition. I was in such sock that I just took the dogs and started to leave. Once outside, it was apparent that the Cinnamon was disoriented. My other dog (Sissy) proceeded to use the restroom. I then noticed blood in her stool and about an ounce of blood that just pooled out after. I went back inside to ask for a paper towel to wipe the blood off my dog. The front desk attendant was on a personal call yet again. Her only response to what I told her was ?that didn?t happen here?. I took the dogs to the ER to have them checked out. Cinnamon was severely dehydrated, lost 2 lbs (she only weighs 8 lbs), had an eye infection in both eyes, and an ulcer on one. Sissy was dehydrated and had a bacterial infection in her stomach. The doc said this was likely from the stress of the stay. The ER doc wanted to keep Cinnamon in the ICU for several days. We opted to treat Cinnamon at home after they gave us the supplies and coached me on what to do. Cinnamon never fully recovered. She would have a few good days and then several bad. We tried to nurse her back to health for a month. Eventually she stopped eating and drinking. The owner?s response to this tragic event was that she was old. While that may be true, we took a healthy dog in and returned to a dog on her death bed. They never once called me to let me know that her health was deteriorating. But then again, they were not watching her close enough to know that she was sick. Sissy made a full recovery. But is now a nervous wreck anytime we take her somewhere in the car. I am sure she fears that we are taking her back to Rowens. If only she could talk. I bet she would tell me enough damaging information to shut the place down. I did call the dept of Ag. They did make a site visit to Rowen and found the establishment in proper order, but made some process improvement suggestions. My advice to all pet owners is to ensure that the people you leave your pets with truly cares for animals as much as you do and has processes in place to regularly monitor your pets so that they know when there is a decline in health. Since their stay, I have talked to several people that have either had their dog stay there or have worked at the facility. None of the experiences were good. I also strongly discourage you from using this facility.

Rowens Kennel is a family owned and ran business. They have a love for animals and it is a good place if you need to have you animal kenneled while going out of town. But, their grooming leaves alot to be desired, I would not recommend their grooming to anyone, they do a horrible job.
