The short version:

If you are considering this gym for instruction or classes for your child, keep looking, since they run a disrespectful and dishonest business with terrible class instruction. It will just be a waste of money and time. And if you are already at this gym feeling frustrated, just call up the other local gyms and ask for a trial class or evaluation because you will be blown away with how much more they are doing in their programs. Leaving this gym after 7+ years was our best decision and I am not the only one with such sentiments. They treat the parents with disrespect, the kids with disrespect and the office has a reputation for being extremely unfriendly.

The long version:

We spent over 7 loyal years with two children enrolled in classes at this gym, foolishly hoping they would progress and learn some new skills.

An instructor once privately informed me that they had just received written orders from the owners to keep kids in beginning classes as long as possible and not to move anyone up. Yes, that is how greedy they are at this gym. They intentionally keep kids in their beginning rec. classes doing nothing as LONG as possible, so they can take your money. Be warned. It is nothing more than a glorified horse market, where they cull certain children for their team around age 5 and the rest are put out to pasture!

Week after week for years, I watched my son and my daughter, in different classes, with different instructors do the same exercises with zero progress. They went from station to station and spent about 2 minutes on each exercise, the rest of the time standing in a line. You could set your watch on their schedule and it rarely varied. I went to the office and inquired about the lack of progress, they told me to talk to their instructors and then the instructor told me to talk to the office, specifically Mike...Ah the great run around! No one was remotely interested in addressing questions about progress for some reason. My son lost interest eventually sitting in beginning class for 4 years straight, no wonder! We feel it was a real loss, if we had only realized what what the other gyms in the area offered for his age. It's a shame. For my daughter, the idea of competition was repeatedly dangled in front of her, but she only moved up a level when I made a big racket. They raised her hopes apparently to keep us paying for those worthless classes because they were doing nothing with her! It is almost criminal the way this gym operates! So many parents in the same boat and as frustrated as me by this I found out later. I finally decided to bite the bullet and to write this review, as a cautionary tale to those still stuck paying through their noses at that gym, and those who might be looking for a gymnastics program. It takes a lot of bad treatment to push me to publicly post a bad review on any business... Sorry BGGC, you earned this one big time they way you operate!

One parent in our class wisely pulled her daughter out of the class and went to American Academy for Gymnastics where she was much happier. Besides the lack of progress that was apparent, she didn't agree with the slapping, poking, and name calling from the coaches. I have now run into many others who left this gym for the exact same reasons. When we were having evaluations done at other gyms, we actually ran into another one of our classmates who was doing the same. What does that say?

Well, the last straw was when I was given the FINAL run around by my daughter's coaches and the gym owner, Terri. I caught them in a bald faced lie and they tried to cover it up, pathetically I might add. This really disgusted me especially when I had been so patient and loyal as a customer. It was sickening. It spoke volumes to me about their business, so I decided then and there never to return. 7+ years of classes...no phone call, no concern, but I wasn't surprised at all. If there had been a problem with the credit card on auto debit every month you can bet I would have heard from them!

My daughter tried out classes and was evaluated at a number of gyms. I really had my eyes opened. She was doing more in one hour at these other classes than what she would do in 6 weeks at Buffalo Grove Gymnastics! Unbelievable! We found a new gym and everyone there is fantastic, friendly and very direct. It is like a breath of fresh air. In two weeks progress was absolutely noticeable and her confidence was soaring! My daughter is thriving on a competitive team and is getting direction and the quality instruction that will help her progress to whatever level she wants to go to now. The difference between gyms is mind boggling. We should have left that cruddy Buffalo Grove gym center years ago, believe me I am really kicking myself.

Don't waste your money or time at this gymnastics center! I would recommend American Academy of Gymnastics and Dance or Gym Spot!

THE WORDS OF THIS REVIEW ARE TRUE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THERE ENTIRETY AND SHOULD BE READ CAREFULLY AS THEY EXPRESS THE INNER WORKINGS OF THIS PROGRAM, ITS FACILITY AND ITS STAFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buffalo Grove Gymnastics was created in 1992 to serve the needs of the community in this area by promoting many standards. Development, Growth, Fun, and Exercise are some of the standards which have been upheld since its start. There are so many opportunities that can be achieved through multiple facets of the program like; Dance, Martial Arts, Adult Zumba, and of course...Gymnastics (from recreational age all the way up to competitive level 10 for both genders). Criteria That I've created allows for a better understanding of this program.

ATMOSPHERE: This place has many opportunities for children to explore there abilities and allows for personal growth of children, whether disabled or not. The staff are as helpful as can be and take true interests in there participants inside and outside of the gym.

TEAM: So many gymnasts have started from the beginning and left this particular program to be very successful!!!! The Boys program consistently pumps talent into the collegiate sector of gymnasts and Countless Boys have gone on to compete internationally, become members of the regional and national teams. The girls program has seen much success as well. Promoting good basics and technique that allows these young girls to compete at the national level and also acquire roster spots on collegiate teams nationwide. Being a part of this team is quite strenuous and Does take a lot of work and dedication (as many sports do) But this program continues to inspire and instill the belief that the children in this area can do great things and develop positive qualities and attributes they may not receive anywhere else!!

CLEANLINESS: The nearest gyms to BGGC are new and thus are clean as can be, but do to management inexperience, They lack what BGGC has been able to do with its wear and tear drawbacks. Annual renovations every second week in august insure that this gym runs at top physical condition promoting a healthy atmosphere and safe environment for children.

NEGATIVITY: Many times, Slanderous and false information are spread concerning this gym and aside from unhappy customers like any business will receive, This facility does not deserve the constant harassment it receives from a certain group of team parents that want nothing more than to see this program fall. A review by Ell K. here on yelp (likely a grudge-full team parent) does not give enough insight to what positivity this gym has to offer and should NOT be considered by any means.

I am a gymnast that went through this program and not only was welcomed with open arms, But was treated like family from all that I had known there. This place was my home and gave me so many things to be thankful for. I learned the importance and values of what it takes to be successful, Determination, Discipline, and hard work; all while being physically active in a sport that is as rewarding as it is fun. Gymnastics is arguable the hardest sport in the world, and While not everyone can be olympians, Your child WILL develop and learn more than just gymnastics at this gym. Gyms in this area are new and because of this, Lack the system, the drive and the experience to help children achieve greatness. Buffalo grove grandfathered these programs in this area and the experience alone gives testimony to the endless possibilities your child can achieve.

My children are 4, 7 and 11 and all take classes here. They love it and it is the only activity they never seem to want a break from. It does get expensive, but I have three kids so I guess that makes it more so. The money is worth

Terrible gymnastics facility. My son competed for their boys team and was severely injured requiring a body cast for 5 months. His coach nor the owners would contact us after the incident but continued to charge my credit card for tuition. I had to wait months for meet fees to be returned. The owners are snarky and the boys coaching staff appear to not like children.

the teachers are downright mean and often cruel to the kids, after I asked the management to help out and try to talk to my daughters teacher, they told the teacher who then ridiculed my 7 YEAR OLD in front of her group for being a baby
HORRIBLE place

it is an ok place for preschoolers 3 to k, but for older kids interested in gymnastics not very consistent training program, no feedback from the trainers, poorly organized. A lot of frustrated parents and kids!
