Don't know what akire88 is talking about re: the food being salty. We have been here twice now and have had great experiences both times. Portions are generous and the prices cannot be beaten! On our first visit here, my gf said she likes the chips better than those at Mi Margarita in Peru, IL. We had chicken fajitas the second time and they were very flavorful.

This place is great for families with children, because the kids love playing with the dough and watching tortillas made on El Machino. It seems like it would be a great place to meet friends after work for happy hour also.

We live about an hour from here and, while I wouldn't make the trip just to eat here, we will definitely return again and again when we are in the are.

Pros: prices, friendly staff, excellent food

Cons: cramped quarters for our large party; restaurant is small

If you were to dump a shaker full of salt directly into your mouth, it still wouldn't be as salty as their food. Seriously.
EVERYTHING was astoundingly, mouth-puckeringly salty - and I'm usually accused of being too liberal with the salt in my own food. I had a fajita combo plate, with small portions of ribs, steak, shrimp and chicken. The ribs tasted like they wanted to be a dessert - coated in a BBQ sauce that was more sugar than sauce, and not very good BBQ sauce to start with. The chicken was cut into thin, wide strips - almost like shavings - that were dry to the point that the smallest sections were literally like chicken jerky, and could not be chewed without genuine effort. The flavor of the chicken was quite good, however. It made me very sad that the cooking was not done better. The steak was just... bleah. It was the tough kind that got bigger in your mouth when you chewed it and had absolutely no flavor except some blackened burnt bits (gross). The shrimp were cooked well - not tough or rubbery -but the sauce they were dipped in was, again, salty, salty, salty.
We tried the guacamole they make at your table and it was passable - our waitress was very nice. We put salsa in it to give it some flavor, which made it salty, but it was still pretty good. We ended up dumping it into the queso (something Chuy's in Austin does) and that was the best. The tortillas were made on-site, and so thick they didn't seem quite done and were very small - also very hard to wrap due to the thickness. I ended up just eating things with my fork and taking a bite of a tortilla to get the flavor. Not my preferred method of eating fajitas.
What's sad is that you can tell most things would have probably tasted good if they hadn't dumped a metric ton of salt into the mix. The salsa has a really, really good flavor until the salt smacks you in the face. Anyway, the whole thing was just abysmal and we will never, ever go to another Chevy's anywhere again.

Pros: Good wait staff

Cons: Everything else

Chevy's has delicious food and a fun environment. Although the Bloomington Chevy's may very well be the smallest Chevy's I've ever been to, it's still got all the favorites, from the bar area to El Machino (tortilla making machine). My favorite is the Napa Valley Quesadillas served with mango salsa! But honestly, there's nothing on the menu that wouldn't leave you satisfied. And if you go in on your birthday, you get to keep the sombrero and that famous Chevy's birthday song in your head for weeks!! Fun for couples, singles, groups and families!! Good food - good prices - good service.

Pros: flavor!, Margheritas, Booth seating

Cons: bad parking, always crowded, small building
