We invite all our neighbors (no matter what your zipcode) to come experience our modern interpretation of the classic neighborhood pub. More lively than a typical local bar, more comfortable than most upscale bars, Black Rock offers an alternative to the often formulaic Chicago bar scene. Our vintage interior, creative menu, strong beer selection, attractive party room, and killer jukebox combine to create the kind of character that most bars struggle to affect. With an army of loyal regulars and a large, diverse weekend crowd (hipsters to yuppies and everything in between) Black Rock is a home-away-from-home for patrons of all types from Lakeview, Roscoe Village and beyond. So come on by for dinner and drinks, or maybe to play a board game by the fireplaces in our cozy back room. If you do, it probably won't be long before you're calling Black Rock your very own neighborhood bar.
I've been to this place a few times with friends who live in the area. It's a neighborhood bar but it's a nice, well-kept one, and the bartenders are friendly. It certainly inspires loyalty in its patrons.

Great down to earth bar. A wide variety of beer makes it a place for everyone. What really makes this an awsome bar is the staff. Very friendly, save your seat when you need a smoke break (coaster on top of your drink), and they actually know their drinks. You have to try this bar no matter what day of the week. Saturday's are great times. Scott the bartender is the shiz-nitz!
Pros: Service
Cons: There are none

First time visiting since moving to neighborhood. Went on an early Friday night. Impressions: nice decor, low-lit atmosphere, 20's-30's crowd. Not necessarily a trendy place, but it is not a hangout with less-desireable people. Better suited for a more hip crowd. The turkey sandwich and sweet potato fries were ordered. The kitchen did well. The best part of the fries was how they were so well salted. A little bit on the saltier side, but as far as salting goes, these rate the best I've had so far. Prices are average, and they have a decent, albeit smaller selection of beers. Will definately make more stops here in the future.
Pros: Great fries, not dingy in any way
Cons: none so far...
