A once in a lifetime experience both at the breakfast and the Holiday Musical. The breakfast, though delicious wasn't something we'd normally have, but it didn't matter, we loved the service, the environment and the attention to detail. The Musical was a treat for our ten-year old and the girls took time to sign autographs to make it personal. We have awesome pictures and a memory to last a lifetime. The store is every American Girl Fan's Dream. The worst part is making a decision about what to buy. Girl Heaven!

Ratings_icons great mommy-daugther trip!

This store is a dreamland for a little girl. The shopping is wonderful and we had a blast. The only drawback was in the restaurant. Some of the food wasn't kid friendly and a bit "fancy" for our daughter. We had a great time shopping and the play was awesome!!

My daughter and I took a bus trip to Chicago last spring, and our #1 destination was AGP. My 8-year-old looked forward to the trip for weeks, and saved up all her birthday money for it. Saving up is necessary - the dolls are close to $100 and outfits for them are around $25 each. However, girls are buying, buying, buying like mad and everyone seems to be toting huge bags of stuff they've purchased. You can't understand the American Girl "addiction" until you've seen shoppers here. There is a beauty salon for the dolls, a cafe where you can eat (with your doll, of course - they even give you a little clip-on seat for her and her own dishes, etc). There is a theater with an American Girl play showing, and a photo studio where you can be photographed with your doll. It's good clean fun though - many of the dolls hail from various periods of American History (others are contemporary), and they are well-made. If you have a daughter, treat her and yourself and make the trek here at least once. You'll both be glad you did!

This store is one of the biggest hits with tourists and residents alike. All over Michigan Avenue you will see people carrying around their American Girl bags. This unique store sells some of the most beautiful dolls, toys and children's clothing. What they also have, which is a big hit with people, is a theater and cafe on premises.

PROS: Adults and children love this store

American girl is every little girls dream store. They allow your daughter to select a "baby" with different skin colors, hair color and eye color. Next the fun parts begins, and for the parents their wallets will start to shirnk. you can accessorize the baby with clothes, and hats and shoes. These play clothes will cost just about the same as the clothes your kids are wearing.

CONS: Expensive

You see them streaming from American Girl Place on a Satuday afternoon, eyes alive (parents with packages in hand). They've just seen the musical or had lunch or bought their favorite doll. This place does not come cheap, but these dolls and the store are beloved by little girls everywhere. You know these dolls, characters from American history, dressed in historical costume, each with her own name and story.

PROS: a paradise for little girls with its own musical
CONS: expensive toys

Ratings_icons Best fun for the little girls

American Girl Place has a huge store on Michigan Avenue, the Magnificient Mile in downtown Chicago. They display and sell famous American Girl dolls together with all kinds of clothing and accessories for the dolls. They also sell matching clothes and accessories for little girls. This amazing store houses a movie theater, a doll hairdresse, and a restaurant. You can have a birthday party or a tea party for your little princess and her friends. Could be an expensive addiction though, so be careful.

Ratings_icons Brings smiles to the faces of little girls!

This is the most awesome store there is for "girlie" shopping. There is so much to do here, and your pocketbook can run dry during an outing at the American Girl Place. Each doll is to fall in love with, and you can pick and choose a doll that looks just like your little girl. It makes it so fun for the girls to pretend their American Girl is their little daughter. There are so many dolly/mommy activities and you can take home so many souveneirs to remember your adventures, including pictures of the girls with their dolls. My daughter got her "Nikki" last December, over 8 months ago, and still loves it more than I would have expected out of a 10 year old (now 11 and still enjoys her doll.)

If you can afford it, this is little girl heaven. This store is just incredible and has everything you can imagine for the American Girl line. They have the dolls, furniture, books, doll clothes, kid clothes (for the Mommy/Doll matching outfit look) and a place to eat, have a birthday party, etc. It is very expensive, but they do have sale items and for those special occassions and special Mother/Daughter bonding times, this havs got to be one of the top places in Chicago.

This is an awesome store for little girls. It has really nice dolls and all the accessories to go with them. Though the dolls are pricey, I think they are very educational for kids in that they each teach some sort of cultural lesson.
