I can't even begin to describe how dissapointed I am in the Fairview Heights location. I have always had great luck finding things at the store for my daughter, but I have tried multiple separate times to bring my daughter's old clothes in

I LOVE OUAC ! I highly recomend going to get anything that you need for your children. There staff is very helpful and the store is always kept up on. The managment is very undercontrol. If there was not an OUAC in my area my children would not walk around in the niice name brand clothes that they do now. The prices are so great, if you go anywhere else the prices are very outragous! Many people complain about not getting enough for the things they sell, but when i look at it they have to look through every piece and that takes time. I understand that they need money as well, if they did not cut back on buying then they would not make money at all! This is such an amazing place. Totally in love!

i really like once upon a child, but i get mad when i take things in to sell because they always say there very worn or not in style or stained and most of the things i take in are brand new and name brand clothes (gymboree, childrensplace, disney ect) i would not recommend taking in things to sell, and some things are worth buying i find alot of big toys there and pay great prices

I brought four boxes of my daughter's 12 month to 18 month fall/winter clothing to sell. Most of the clothes were Carter's or Children's Place; some of the things may have been worn once or not at all. I had washed everything. I had thrown away anything that looked stained or faded. After I dropped the clothes off at OUAC, I went shopping in the stores around OUAC and went out to eat. The lady in charge said it would be an hour and a half for them to go through my clothes. No problem. I returned about ten minutes before the lady had said they would be done going through my clothes. I went up to the counter and told the lady I was early, but wanted to let her know I was back in the store. The woman in charge pretty rudely informed me it would be a few more minutes. I walked around the store for a bit, then I returned to the area near the counter. The counter help ladies were friendly enough; asking if I needed anything, but I had told them I was just waiting for my drop offs to be gone through. I was waiting patiently. Out of all four boxes, they only chose less than 10 items for $20. They said they were stained, faded, and not things they sell! WHATEVER! When I walked around in the section of the store that held the sizes I brought in, I saw there were hardly any fall/winter clothes--it was all short sleeves, tank tops, and skirts. Most of what I saw on their racks, I would have been embarassed to bring to sell--very worn, poor quality clothing. They should have been glad to have what I brought in. I don't even think the ladies went through all four of my boxes. I will never waste my time again. I had told all of the mother's in my daughter's daycare about Fairview Hghts OUAC.. I have now told them it's only good for ghetto wear. By the way...Once Upon A Child on Manchester Road has much better merchandise.

I love this store! Everyone here is very friendly. They always let me know the out come of my items in a friendly and timely manner everytime I come in! Some people tend to become a little upset and they keep their cool no matter the out come. Whenever I have a question about something that they didnt take they are more than happy to go through and explain things to me a little better.

Most of their stuff looks like it should be put out at a garage sale and they want outrageous prices for them. I was looking for shorts for my daughter and couldn't hardly find one pair. The ones I did find looked like they were from 10 years ago. They had an over abundance of jean skirts. I was wondering if this is all they buy. I found a few cute shirts but at the prices they wanted I could have went out and bought brand new for a few bucks more. Most of the t-shirts looked old and faded. I tried to sell some of my daughter's clothes from last summer and they told me they were outdated. I think they better look at what they are trying to sell before they make a statement like that. I heard them telling a lady that they would only give her 70 or 80 cents per item for her name brand clothes. I understand they have to turn a profit but that is ridiculous. Maybe not all of the OUAC's are like this but the Fairview Heights one sucks.

if it weren't for once upon a child, my son would have the crappiest hand me downs. i've gotten every color of cordouroy pants and even nautica polo shirts for a few bucks. I'm sorry but they may not pay you much for your things you bring in, but in their defense you don't have to pay much for things you buy either. That's the whole idea for this place. I spent 92 dollars for a whole new wardrobe for my son at the beginning of winter including 10 new pairs of pants and about 20 new shirts/sweaters. that would have been ~ 400 or more anywhere else. The fact that you get paid for your things is nice. i'm actually going today and if they give me 15 dollars ...great! Gas money!

This place is a total waste of time if you're motivation is to actually make any MONEY by selling your kids' clothes & toys. We brought TONS of name-brand clothing (Gymboree, Healthtex, Disney Store, and designer labels), books, movies, and Little Tikes toys. They wanted to give us $10!! I just about fell out of my seat. I had gone to a great deal of trouble washing, ironing, checking for spots, etc., and to get this response was a slap in the face. One of the items was a girl's Little Tikes lighted talking vanity set, which was selling for about $40 on E-bay. They wanted to give us $3 for it! The other reviewer said it well: Take your stuff and GIVE IT AWAY before you hand it over to these folks!

PROS: Great concept, not bad prices for purchasing things
CONS: AWFUL for selling your items to; a complete ripoff

The staff is very sweet at this location, and I almost feel sorry for them being put in this position. But, that said, they sell brand new boutique style hairbows SO cheap that we keep going back. We've probably got more than 50 bows by now, and 90% of them came from Once Upon A Child. But, if you bring things in to sell to them, they pay you a fraction of what you'd get even at a garage sale. It's just not worth it.
