I went there for the first time yesterday and I was not impressed at all. I ordered 2 filets of catfish...one blackened and one fried. The blackened piece was not done at all ( I could barely cut it with a butter knife). I sent it back

Husband received a gift card from a friend of his for this restaurant. this had been a favorite restaurant of ours until the last year when the service was terrible and the food was mediocre at best. Unfortunately we had the same experience. Service was slow even though the restaurant was empty. Food was mediocre..catfish and seafood cakes really really fishy. We were very happy that we didnt have to pay for this meal. when we went to pay with gift card we were informed that they would not honor it. We were told that employees/manager had scammed the customers by taking the money, loading the gift card, then pocketing them both and giving the customer a worthless card. We had a paid receipt for our card. the owner still refused because the numbers on our card didnt match the numbers on the receipt. OF COURSE NOT! They just told us how they ran the scam and of course our receipt didnt match our card. thats how they did it. So the owners way of taking care of this situation was to not honor gift cards. ???? When i figured out that the owner knew..that we were the victims of this scam and just didnt care. i became angry and we called the police. we were forced to pay half . even though they knew we were not the theives but innocent victims of this scam. So the owner/manager/employees received money for the gift card plus our money that we were forced to pay for our mediocre meal and bad service..and we had to pay knowing that they knew we were innocent and that they didnt care that they were responsible for us getting scammed..so we were scammed again right? SHAME ON YOU!

Husband received a gift card for his birthday. We went to this restaurant to use the gift card. This had been a place that we enjoyed in the past but had gone down in service and food quality the last few times there. Service was once

Upon our arrival ,we were seated and waited patienly for our server. The atmosphere is quaint , like a swamp shack in the bayou. We then hear the Asst. Mgr. tell the hostess that she wasn't supposed to sit us in that area and that we would have to move. (Should've left then) We move to another table where we wait again for our server . She takes my order, 1 fried catfish fillet and 1 "grilled", I apologize and ask to change the grilled to "blackened". When my order arrives I get 1 blackened fillet and 1 grilled. I inform her this isn't what I ordered and requested a fried fillet. She returns and informs me that the Asst. Mgr. said once my order was placed I could not change it. They were unwilling to correct their own mistake! What happened to the customer is always right? Although I love the food @ Dixie Kitchen and have frequented both the Lansing and Hyde Park locations, I'll never go again. If you want good food and bad service, this is your spot!!!

Located in a strip mall. This a great place to hand out with friends or family. The food is good. I especially like the corn bread cakes and the selection of side items. I usually order the fried cat fish with a side of greens and mac&cheese. If you are an iced tea lover, try it here. Very very good.

This is located in a Lansing strip mall. The ambiance is great, especially in the summer. You have the option of sitting in the restaurant or on the outside dock. It lends to easy conversation among friends and family members. The food is just average, nothing spectacular. But if you are willing to try something new, they are more than willing to make suggestions. You never go wrong with Shrimp or catfish po boys or jambalaya. They give large portions and the sides are fantastic. Try the ho cakes with butter, and you may fill up just on these. This is also a kid friendly place, and you never feel like they are going to embarrass you. Try the lemonade lightening or any of the other alcoholic drinks served in Mason jars. They pack a punch, and are definitely not watered down. This is a great place for getting together on a Saturday night with friends.

PROS: Great place to hang out with friends
CONS:
