My husband and I spent the weekend in Galena for our friends wedding. The rehearsal dinner was at Fried Green tomatoes. The staff did a wonderful job and they even customized a menu for the bride and groom with their photo on it. The steak and the salmon were both cooked perfect. Do not skip dessert here it was just the best!!

Dinner on Monday was on of the best meals we have eaten out in a long time. The drinks were priced correctly the entrees were served with soup, salad, and bread all included. The server I believe her name was Kelly was nice, smiled and accommodated our special requests. Great Italian restaurant.

Great place for dinner, very romantic. Servers were very good and knew the menu well. Nice menu mix they have everything from duck to chicken to lamb. Good food for the value you pay, dinner portions are very large so you may want to skip the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer as it is very filling. Nice wine list and full bar. Best in Galena, will be back soon.

Fried Green Tomatoes is Galena is beautiful restaurant in downtown. They have large windows in the main dining room and wonderful real rock walls. Their staff is very well trained and their wine list along with liquor selection is top notch. The dinner menu changes seasonally, my husband had the duck which was done in a raspberry sauce and I had the pork osso buco with sweet potatoes which was fall off the bone good! This is our favorite restaurant in Galena because their food is homemade and they have a great staff.
Fried Green is a great place for your birthday or anniversary. Coming during the week is better and if you come on the weekends a reservation is a must, but they do have valet parking.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Fried Green Tomatoes a few years back when it was located in the countryside and had such a lovely evening we wondered if they could match it at their new in-town location. We neednt have worried. We returned for another anniversary dinner recently and found the experience even better!
We couldnt pass up their signature tomatoes but had heard the crab cakes were outstanding, so we shared both appetizers and loved them. My husband ordered the falling-off-the-bones tender Pork Osso Buco (outstanding!) and I ordered the Alaskan Halibut, topped with artichokes and tomatoes in a wine sauce (wonderful!).
FGT has such a great wine list that it was difficult deciding which wine to order. We settled on a bottle of the Sanford Central Coast Pinot Noir, which paired beautifully with both the pork and the fish. Our waiter was well-versed on the wine selections and a great help.
Although we were both stuffed, we couldnt leave without ordering dessert, so we shared a velvety-smooth Crme Bruleea perfectly sweet ending to a romantic dinner that met our expectations superbly.
