O K Appliance was recommended to me by someone that worked on my home. When I called to try and make an appointment, the gentlemen I spoke with was very rude! I would try and ask questions as he completely ignored me and would act as if I wasn't even speaking to him. I kept trying to ask him about the service fee as he only made the statement over and over again, "Thank you... Thank You." Then he hung up on me! He only made me feel like back in the old days when woman didn't have a say. It was absolutely rediculous how he portrayed himself on the phone. Of course I called back and cancelled my appointment. I will NEVER recommend this place! They are only getting one star because I have no choice in order for this to go through!

We bought a top-of-the-line washer/dryer from this store, costing more than $2000. We expected the store would stand behind the product (which turned out to be a big lemon) and, at minimum, offer very helpful and cooperative service. We started to get nervous as we were receiving mailings about a major class-action concerning this product (Maytag Neptune stacked unit). The store claimed they knew nothing about the class action, which is doubtful, as Maytag surely sent out flyers to their dealers. In any case, we decided not to join the class action. But soon after this, things started to go very wrong with the machine. The store's repairman diagnosed a blown motherboard, with replacement costs for a new board and service call around $400. Immediately after this was done, another problem occurred. This time the serviceman claimed it was a water valve needing replacement (at $200 plus - this subequently proved a wrong diagnosis by a certified repairman from a different store, by the way). I questioned this, since it did not have anything to do with the symptom of which we were complaining, which seemed to me to be clearly electrical and, based on the timing of it, very likely having to do with the motherboard replacement. I expressed my doubt, and asked that he explain the mechanism whereby this valve could cause the symptom at hand. (I compared it to an auto mechanic diagnosing a knocking engine as a need for new back tires - possible, but please explain, educate me on the process please!) He got very defensive about his expertise and 20 years of experience, and accused me of lying about when the symptom began. When I did not back down, and refused to authorize the valve replacement without an clear explanation, he finally stormed out of the house and left. The store refused further service as he is their only repairman. I finally had to go to a different store to get a certified repairman to properly diagnose my machine. I do not recommend O.K . Appliances.

Message from Ok Appliance

Orville Kant started OK Appliance in 1945 in Bloomington, lL as a returning veteran from World War II. Originally named Bloomington Sweeper Service as vacuums were one of the few appliances available right after the war. The business gradually grew with the addition of other major appliances. Located at our current location for the past 42 years along Veterans Parkway the business is now operated by Mr. Kant's sons Steve and Kevin for the past 15 years. Since their very beginning, selling and servicing quality products has been OK Appliance's primary focus. This includes educating their customers with answers to both product and service questions. They have a 50-year history selling and servicing Maytag products in their area. They are the oldest Maytag dealer, and the only locally owned and operated appliance store in Bloomington-Normal, lL. As with many small businesses they pride themselves in helping their customers make the right decision for their needs.
