I regularly have food delivered at home, and I can honestly say O'fame' has it right. The food is prepared and packaged with care, and received, most often, in the said time frame. I actually like the timed order, where I can call in the middle of my day and order and ask for the order to be delivered in the evening. I absolutely rave about the artichoke pate', their garlic, oil, & tomato pizza, & their signature homemade soups (pasta fagiole is my favorite). Yeah for good food being delivered to my doorstep, especially in this windy cold month of February.

Pros: Delivery & carry - out

This was by far the worst Italian restaurant I have ever been to, and I have frequented quite a few. The service was poor and the food was terrible! The marianara sauce was sour and the other dishes were either bland or tasted as though they were of microwave dinner quality. When we asked to speak to the manager, he was rude and didn't care that our food was terrible. He more or less dismissed us and only removed the charges from our bill (for the nasty food) when we asked. He also tried to scam us by not giving us the 50% off pizza offer that is valid on Wednesdays because he took off the other dishes, which is unfair, as the rest of the restaurant received the discount. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone in the area - I would rather eat at McDonalds!

Pros: Pizza

Cons: Everything else

This is a family restaurant and you can usually find John (owner) or Leslie (his sister) somewhere around the restaurant. It's hard for me to pick a favorite dish but my typical meal consists of: bruschette (tomato, but they also have a bubbly, gooey, melted goat cheese bruschette), an O'Fame salad (they add salami and feta cheese to lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots with a house dressing), and one of their fabulous pizzas. O'Fame goes beyond just the pasta (though that is great too - especially the artichoke pasta or their clam linguini in a red or white sauce) - they also have great meat selections, including a baked lemon chicken. You MUST visit this place if you are anywhere near Lincoln Park.

Pros: Family-owned, amazing food, Ian the bartender

Cons: Parking, but they have valet

I have been eating O'fame pizzas as long as they have been open. They began as a take-out only, added the dining room and then the bar room. Everything they make is very authentic, very flavorful.
But...
The thin crust pizza is simply THE great pizza of the midwest.Tthis is a family recipe, not from some corporate think tank. Order one with fresh tomato, black olives, fresh garlic and pepperoni. You will want a second! What's to order second at O'fame? Substitute their perfectly house-seasoned sausage for the pepperoni and you will know that heaven is just around the corner.
Tired of pizza? Don't miss the rest of the menu. Steak, pasta, salads, chicken, ribs even...just like eating in mom's kitchen here. Everything is prepared with love and just the right amount of garlic. And don't be surprised when the owner personally brings your order to the table if the dining room is busy. He wants you to eat when it's just right. And the oldest son might just be your host or busboy, he's learning the business now.
Nice wines too.

What a great find with people who really care whether your dining experience is satisfying. My recommendations is to bring a few friends and dine family-style splitting one of their thin crust pizzas, fried calamari, & salads to start. My friends then proceed to share a pasta dish or two with an order of their delicious lemon chicken. The tiramisu is the best I've tasted. O'fame is the place I keep returning to for best value and homemade comfort food.
The surprises on the menu & not to be overlooked are the baby back ribs in succulent bar-b-que sauce, and the steak pizziaolla, sliced filet mignon sauteed in a tomato, pepper, mushrroom, & onion sauce.

I loved the thick crust pizza at O'Fame. It's a wonderful place that isn't too well known and that makes it great. The service is very informative and attentive and the other diners are really friendly. It's sort of a local place. When I'm back in Chicago I'll certainly visit O'Fame!
