the gift shop was great. The Planetarium was ridiculous. Spent alot of money to get in, geared for 1st graders. Boring. Exhibits were broken. but hey, if you can't find the North Star, that is the place to go.

This review is specifically for the Sonic Vision program that plays at the Adler.

Here's what I loved about the experience: Parking was super easy, the show was totally unique, it didn't take too long.

Here's what they can improve: I'd like to know more about the technology behind the laser show, a larger variety of shows to meet the musical tastes of various audiences.

When it comes to Chicago museums, the Planetarium is often forgotten or overlooked. However, it's a great place to spend a day during any season. In the summer, it's also enjoyable to visit the outer grounds, being that it is located on a marvelous part of the lakefront. Inside the exhibits and theatre show will marvel old and young alike. Like most other museums, admission is pricy, but it is definitely worth the visit.

With great exhibits like Stars of the Pharaohs and the Liberty Bell 7, the Planetarium offers a fun look at space and astronomy that everyone can find accessible. As always, the Sky Theater is a fun treat that even your littlest tot will enjoy.

I remember going to the Adler Planetarium on school field trips as a kid. The have a really fantastic Milky Way there where you use 3-D glasses and you feel like you are actually out there in space. Their StarRider theater is really cool too where you get to experience a 3D interactive virtual reality.

The Adler Planetarium is kind of underrated compared to the other Chicago museums. It seems smaller, but has a lot of stuff inside, including the planetarium dome screen. Regular shows are worth checking out, and the Sonicvision exhibit is worth seeing if it's still going on.

Right on the lake can't be beat, and it's not that congested since not as many people go here as the other museums. It's not the most high-tech place around, especially for a planetarium, but it's a cool place to check out cool displays and shows, and the exhibits that do offer are quite good. If you've never been, go some time.

PROS: great planetarium theater shows
CONS: not that big

If you love the stars as much as I do them I recommend you visit the Adler Planitarium the next time you are in Chicago. Adler is a great place to see how space travel has changed over the years. From space capsules to space shuttles, you can see exhibits of all of them. They have a great theater where you sit back and see the stars projected around you. It is beautiful!

I went to the planetarium because admission came with my CityPass, but I wish I hadn't wasted my time. It has very few exhibits and they are all very unintersting. There are several interactive ones, but they are all aimed at kids. The free show that comes with the citypass is very boring and is just a look at constillations and the such. Avoid it unless you have kids.

I'm not really into Astronomy, but this museum makes it interesting. So, if you're in Chicago, give them a visit. It's a little expensive to me, especially if you have a big family or a have a low income. However, sometimes, they offer free days (call to check before you go.) The sky show, to me, is the best part. You're lying back in comfortable seats, watching a virtual, awesome show in the ceiling! It is so real. It feels like you're moving! They always have new exhibits too.

Located on basically an island of Chicago museums, the Planetarium seems to be overlooked and therfore allows the easiest tourist destination. The shows are mesmerizing as you sit under a large sky of stars and find yourself quite intelligent afterward. The location has a fantastic view of the city too and a nice spot to watch the boats in the marina go by.

PROS: Location for view of the city
CONS: Location for area and travel within the city

The Planetarium is a fascinating place to visit. The exhibits, telescopes, and tours all-together make the Planetarium a worthwhile place to see. You can learn a lot about planets, stars, and anything else out there in space. The gift shops even sell astronaut food, which, although is just dehydrated food, can be exciting for any kid to have.

I really like this museum and think it has a lot to offer. Both kids and adults can learn a lot from their interactive museums. And though their shows might not be that technologically advanced, they are still a lot of fun to watch. Not only are they entertaining, but you will no doubt end up learning a but of new things! Definitely a place to check out. And its location and beautiful view definitely bump it up to five stars!

Even if you're not a big science nerd, this is still a fun place to go. There are tons of hands-on displays, and not just for kids.... All the displays really get you involved and find a way to make sometimes dull topics interesting. There are several theaters with different shows, but my favorite has always been the Sky Theater. Constellations are projected in the dome above you and it's just cool.

The Planetarium is located on the "museum campus" right on the lake, and it's a gorgeous location. Great view of the city and really nice to walk around on a summer day too. There's a beach on the southern side about 2 minutes away.

Adler Planetarium is a museum exhibiting planets, stars and the earth. What is the most interesting of Adler is their sky show. You first sit in a movie style theatre in which there is a show that changes throughout the year. Next you go to a Sky Show which you sit in a room in which the ceiling is a dome shape. The ceiling is the show and you watch the stars and the planets. The Sky Show Theatre is 360 degrees. Other exhibitis shows our solar system and milky way galaxy. Excellent place for children to learn how our galaxy was formed and how the planets evolved.

I've been to the planetarium quite a few times before, the most recent being when Loyola rented out the place and invited all honors students to visit. It was quite an event and a very nice place. It has great exhibits, planetarium shows, and an excellent location. I really find the building to be beautiful as well!

I highly recommend this museum for all those astronomy lovers out there. This museum has a nice movie that they show on they dome shaped ceiling screen. You just sit and relax as your seat reclines and you look in to the "stars" also they have many exhibits for your kids to explore the wonderful world of space.

I wasn't planning to drop in because I'd already spent so much time at the more popular and publicised museums, but I'm really glad I did. More than 2000 historic instruments on display, it's apparently the largest collection of astronomy collections in the world. When I was a kid, I enjoyed looking at the stars and thought the instruments used to find new land by explorers were intricite, beautiful. I was delighted to find these items here and unexpectedly. I would suggest a stop in the store after seeing at least two exhibitions (The Universe in Your Hands is recommended) to pick up so astronout food.

PROS: inexpensive, lots to see, fun for everyone
CONS:

Adler Planetarium is not quite as popular as its museum neighbors, nor is it as large or comprehensive. Regardless, I prefer it over the Aquarium. The showings at the planetarium are worth the entrance fee (also not as steep as Shedd's), and they range in topics and interests. Also, the view from Adler and the surrounding area is one of Chicago's best.

The Planetarium is one of the best museum type places, i just love it. They have interesting displays and a star show inside the theater. The gift shop is cool cuz you can buy astronaut food packs. Parking is always a challenge, if you're lucky you can find a free spot on the street.
