I have been eating Filippo's Pizza since I was a child. It has always been a favorite for family get togethers and lazy nights. I can honestly say I never understood how good I had it until I moved away from Monticello.

Filippo's, to this day, is owned and run by an ancient old Italian man, who everyone calls Filippo. Maybe thats his name, maybe it isn't, but either way the man makes a sauce and crust like no other. His pizza is amazing. So good in fact, that unlike other small town restaurants his didn't fade away after a few years, but it expanded! His son and daughter now have their own parlors in other nearby towns. Too bad there isn't on in Peoria.

Monticello is a great town, with a lot to offer for a day or weekend trip. There are Allerton Park, the Downtown Square, and if you make it on the right weekend, any of a number of festivals. Strawberry fest being my favorite. And if you make it for the weekend, be sure to make it to Filippo's Pizza for one of your meals. You won't regret it.

Filippo's has more than just the best ever pizza. He has the best ever sauce, cheese, sausage, pasta, pepperoni, and garlic cheese bread. We eat there a lot and every Christmas Eve, our whole family gathers there. Our Cousins, Uncles, Aunts from Mich., Ohio, and Calif. insists on going to Filippos, and we are more than happy to do so. Located in Monticello, Il. a town of 6000, a town that has the best ever PIZZA, boy are we lucky. Dick Hodges
