My name is Paul M. Harris, my mother Antoinette Steward passed on Dec 2, 2010 I went to Leaks on Dec 4, to make arrangements. I spoke to an older heavy set gentleman who was very rude and impatient. I've never had to do this, but he was acting as if I was asking stupid questions. I asked him since the memorial was at 3pm if I could come at 2pm to set up a memorial table and que the music, he said yes. I came back that following Monday to drop off the policy and asked again can I come at 2pm and to make sure we were in the largest room MLK, she said yes. Well on Dec 11, day of the service I arrive at 1:50pm and there is another service still going on. At 1:35 I spoke to the father Mr. Leaks because I had a lobby full of people waiting and still had not set up yet. I wasn't mad at the other family but at the funeral home. Mr. Leaks tells me "well you are just having a memorial service there is NO BODY so you don't really need a lot of time"(WOW) and he never apologized, I just started crying and shook my head, it was already a rough day so I just walked out the office... So at 3:10 I'm rushing to set up didn't get a chance to do it exactly how I wanted to... However while setting up the Funeral Director and Security Guard start arguing in front of me about who should do what (WOW)... So the room wasn't clean, music wasn't qued and the mic/sound system were terrible. When I went to pic up my mom's ashes I spoke to one of the Leak Sons but instead of him just listening (which is all I wanted him to do) he tries to over talk me and defend his father's comments and the bad booking. They need better organization & sensitivity training. I know they are the most popular in that community, but the people deserve better... I'm going to make sure I blog about my experience P.M.H

I just recently lost my brother violently. My Mother is devistated and my family is trying to hold it together due to the loss of our loved one. Leak and Sons accepted the crime victims application and handled the funeral. One week after the funeral we were told my brother had not been cremated as requested because signatures were needed. My mother has had to visit the funeral home now twice and still the paperwork and file are not complete. Training is needed in responding to customers sensative needs as well as proper protocall in cremation precedure and file formation. This was a HORRIBLE situation.

Our service was to start at 5pm, which is what the staff told us, but it did not start until 6pm. I had to work the cd player due to the fact that there was no staff in the chapel. The HOMEGOING of our mother Crozelle Roy was handled by Leak & Sons in which they made this aspect of a difficult time a smooth transition for our family. I want to especially thank Spencer Leak Jr. from the initial phone call with my brother, the planning of the service started from out of state in which we had to bring our mother home from Georgia.

Mr. Leak Jr. comforted our family and made us feel at ease & confident in the establishments ability to handle the transfer of our mother from GA to IL.

The staff was courteous, listened to the needs of our family, was honest with their repsonses of the questions the family asked and was more than accomodating.

The family of Crozelle Roy was pleased with the wake service & funeral service. The establishment was clean and newly remodeled. The funeral director for our family was very in tune to the needs of the family from the climate of the funeral chapel down to the family grieving all in a professional manner.

The family would like to thank you for your sincerity and professional knowledge.

First and foremost I have to thank Leak and Sons Funeral home for the time and care they displayed during a very difficult time my family and I went through with the lost of our Beloved daughter, sister, grandchild. My child Yazmine Collins was called away from us to go home and be with the Lord. The untimely passing happened while we were in St. Louis, We had visited a couple of other places before going to Leak and Sons, Not going to name names but the way were treated at these other places was so impersonal and it was all about the money. We went to Leak without an appointment and we received nothing but the highest Quality care. The Staff at Leak and Sons was more about compassion and making sure that we as a family was taking care of and that our loved one was going to be in Good Hands. From the time we told them they were the ones to handle our child it seems that they went above and beyond their call of duty. I personally spoke with Spencer Sr. as well as Spencer Jr. and the both of them assured me that all things would be handled with care and respect and that is what we received and the final bill came in it was less than what was Quoted

Mr Leak I've attended serveral funerals where your establishment handled the remains. Whyis it that you never really have the decease looking geninue. I went to a funeral today and the deceased did not look like the real person. There was no light over her coffin, and she looked like a mandingo WARRIOR and she was not that BIG when she was alive.

I recently los my father early this year. When I was searching for funeral homes, this was one of the places that was suggested. Surrounding my fathers death there was a lot of family feuding . This establishment manged to stay professional and operates things by the book, as well as the right way. I just want to thank them for doing so. I can't remember the young woman's name that was assisting us(she is tall and slender), but i am sure if she reads this she will look, back to late December/ early January and remember our encounter. I just especially want to say thank you for your patience and professionalism. Unfortunately, in time of grief it is hard to find some one you can trust. Thank you and keep you the good work. I am sure God has a special place for you in heaven.

I buried my family member on Friday, March 6th, 2009 with Leak Funeral Home in Country Club Hills and I was very disappointed with the service provided. The limos were supposed to pick up our immediately family at 8am and did not arrive until 9:15am. The funeral service was scheduled to begin at 10 am and the immediate family arrived shortly before the beginning of the program. Since we arrived so late our family was not there early to greet the guest and extended family that had traveled and taken off work to attend the service. At the conclusion of the service the Leak funeral home announced that the family would first go up to review the remains. I was rushed through the line to see the deceased and after the immediate family viewed the body and was escorted out they closed the casket and began to push the casket out of the door. Over 300 people were not allowed the opportunity to review the deceased before the burial. As they hurriedly pushed the casket down the aisle the funeral home attendants began to push the visitors out of the way and the casket hit several of the guests. The attendants were very rude and belligerent as they requested for families to cease communion and hurry to their cars immediately after the service ended. And the funeral attendants ended the service without allowing for the benediction or the final prayer.

I have never received such poor treatment and insensitivity concerning the deceased. Not only will I never use Leak funeral home as long as I live but I will not attend services held in that space. I strongly discourage anyone from using their facilities especially if you would like your deceased to be handled with care.

The driver was late, so I waited in the waiting room, and after a while, I excused myself to use the restroom. While I was there, the procession left without me. There were only 3 of us going to the cemetery, and I had told them that I was going to use the restroom (one restroom in this very large facility), so this couldn't have been an oversight ?? they just decided to leave without me. When I came back to the waiting room, they told me to try and catch up with the procession, and I tried but I couldn't. When I called back and asked them if they could give me directions and wait for me, they gave me directions and went straight to the cemetery. When I arrived, they had already put my friend in the ground and left. Of the 6 people on staff that I spoke with as I tried to find out what was going on, not one even offered an apology. I'm a minister, and I conduct funerals myself and work with various funeral homes from time to time. I've never seen a funeral home with such callous disregard for the deceased and their loved ones.

I am writing this letter on behalf of my family to express our extreme dissatisfaction and anger regarding the services we received from A.R. Leak & Sons for the funeral arrangements for our beloved James Frederick Wiley. Our encounter with you and your staff was nothing short of a nightmare and atrocity. Your callous attitude and behavior towards my family was unconscionable and reprehensible. You are a disgrace to your business.

Every phase of the arrangements that were discussed, planned and paid for was met with incompetence, inadequacy and carelessness. There was nothing heartfelt or genuine in the way my family was treated by you and your staff.

None of the arrangements that we made with you were cared out on time. You either changed the agreed upon schedule for the viewing of my brothers's body, without our consent or knowledge or you were just simply inexcusably late. Surely you must understand and appreciate that funerals are a sacred and solemn moment that we all will experience. But more importantly, how you treat the deceased and their family is also an integral part of the funeral arrangements. Any delay is simply unbearable and excruciatingly painful. And, this Mr. Leak, is unacceptable and unforgivable.

I am most disturbed about the fact that the viewing of my brother's body was scheduled for 12:00 Sunday, April, 21. However, when my family arrived, on time, my brother's body was not there. The staff member at the chapel was neither apologetic or offered an explanation. But the most abominable, horrifying and detestable thing that you and your staff did was to bring him in, one hour later, in front of his wife, my mother and his son, as we sat in the lobby. How insensitive and heartless can you be.

The chapel in Country Club Hills is fifthly. There was dust at least three (3) inches thick on the table on which his casket set. The carpet looked like it had not been cleaned nor vacuumed in months. Is that how you do business? Do you think families are so grieved that we will not notice how dirty your establishment is? Or have you been in business so long that you don't care and no longer know how to provide empathetic and compassionate care to the people who entrust you with their loved ones in the most vulnerable moments in their life.I

pray that you never treat another family in this manner ever again. But one thing is for sure, my family will not use your services in the future. And we will tell our friends about the manner in which we were treated. The pain that we suffered due to your negligence, incompetence and inefficiency and inferior service we received is more than anyone could or should possibly bear again.

I am writing this letter on behalf of my family to express our extreme dissatisfaction and anger regarding the services we received from A.R. Leak & Sons for the funeral arrangements for our beloved James Frederick Wiley. Our encounter with you and your staff was nothing short of a nightmare and atrocity. Your callous attitude and behavior towards my family was unconscionable and reprehensible. You are a disgrace to your business.

Every phase of the arrangements that were discussed, planned and paid for was met with incompetence, inadequacy and carelessness. There was nothing heartfelt or genuine in the way my family was treated by you and your staff.

None of the arrangements that we made with you were cared out on time. I have had the honor to have Leak and sons provide our family with their assistance when my mother died and I can tell you that the Leak family was like angels to us! I believe that God will place people in your life when you can not carry on, for me Leak and Son's were those people who were with our family at a time when we felt as though we could not bear our mother's homecoming. Their customer service is excellent,just fantastic, their skills as a funeral home is top of the line and they worked with us based on our budget. I personally would recommend Leak and Son's to whom ever is in need of funeral home services, to me they are just the best!

I was able to arrange for Leak and Sons to pick up my father's body from California, bring it back to Chicago, and prepare the funeral at a cost that was reasonable for my family. Leak and Sons were professional, courteous and compassionate. The service and visitation were excellent. I highly recommend Leak and Sons Funeral Homes.

This funeral home has poor customer service with bad attitudes. They don't know how to treat their customers and are just money hungry. I will never bring my loved one to this funeral home because these are very rude people. They are supposed to be very in tact with their community but I don't see it.
